1    - Hayır, yemin ederim o kıyamet gününe. (I swear by the Day of Resurrection)

2    - Yine hayır, yemin ederim o sürekli kendini kınayan nefse.(And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].)

3    - İnsan, kendisinin kemiklerini bir araya toplayamayacağımızı mı sanıyor? (Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?)

4    - Evet, bizim onun parmak uçlarını bile aynen eski haline getirmeye gücümüz yeter.(Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.)

5    - Fakat insan günahı devam ettirmek ister. (But man desires to continue in sin.)

6    - O kıyamet günü ne zaman? diye sorar. (He asks, “When is the Day of Resurrection?”)

7    - Ne zaman ki o göz şimşek çakar,(So when vision is dazzled)

8    - Ay tutulur, (And the moon darkens)

9    - Güneş ve ay toplanır,(And the sun and the moon are joined,)

10    - İşte o gün insan, “kaçacak yer neresi?” der.(Man will say on that Day, “Where is the [place of] escape?”)

11    - Hayır, hayır, yok bir siper. (No! There is no refuge.)

12    - O gün varılıp durulacak yer, ancak Rabbinin huzurudur.(To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.)

13    - O gün insana, yapıp öne sürdüğü ve geri bıraktığı ne varsa bildirilir.(Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.)

14    - Doğrusu insan kendi nefsini görür,(Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,)

15    - Bir takım özürler ortaya atsa da.(Even if he presents his excuses.)

16    - Onu hemen okumak için dilini depretme. (Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an.)

17    - Kuşkusuz onu toplamak ve okumak bize aittir.(Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.)

18    - O halde biz onu okuduğumuz zaman sen onun okunuşunu takip et. (So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.)

19    - Sonra onu açıklamak da bize aittir. (Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].)

20    - Hayır, siz peşin olanı (dünyayı) seviyorsunuz da (No! But you love the immediate,)

21    - Ahireti bırakıyorsunuz.(And leave the Hereafter.)

22    - Yüzler var ki o gün ışıl ışıl parlar. ([Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,)

23    - Rabbine bakar. (Looking at their Lord.)

24    - Yüzler de var ki o gün asıktır. (And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,)

25    - Anlar ki kendisine belkıran (bel kemiklerini kıran belalı bir iş) yapılır. (Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.)

26    - Hayır hayır, ne zaman ki can köprücük kemiklerine dayanır, (No! When the soul has reached the collar bones)

27    - “Tedavi edebilecek kimdir?” denilir. (And it is said, “Who will cure [him]?”)

28    - Can çekişen bunun o ayrılık anı olduğunu anlar. (And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation)

29    - Bacak bacağa dolaşır..(And the leg is wound about the leg,)

30    - İşte o gün sevk, ancak Rabbinedir. (To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.)

31    - Fakat o, ne sadaka verdi, ne namaz kıldı. (And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed.)

32    - Fakat yalanladı ve döndü. (But [instead], he denied and turned away.)

33    - Sonra da çalım sata sata ailesine gitti. (And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].)

34    - Gerektir o bela sana, gerek. (Woe to you, and woe!)

35    - Evet, gerektir o bela sana gerek. (Then woe to you, and woe!)

36    - İnsan başıboş bırakılacağını mı sanır? (Does man think that he will be left neglected?)

37    - O, dökülen erlik suyundan bir damla (sperm) değil miydi? (Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?)

38    - Sonra bir aleka (embriyon) oldu da Rabbi onu biçime koydu, sonra şekil verdi. (Then he was a clinging clot, and [ Allah ] created [his form] and proportioned [him])

39    - Ondan da iki cinsi; erkek ve dişiyi var etti. (And made of him two mates, the male and the female.)

40    - Peki, bunu yapanın ölüleri diriltmeye gücü yetmez mi? (Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?)
