snow!

got an email from my kiddo's teacher today that the care packages for our local shelter clients were finished - and i found out that several kids were excited to bring in extra items, AND one of the parents works for the shelter. and so now the parent is going to come in and present about the shelter and accept the packages. anyway some things and also people do suck, but kids are so kind. each package contains a beanie, two pairs of gloves, two pairs of socks, hand warmers, a fleece blanket, chap stick, tooth paste, tooth brush, a pack of playing cards, chocolate, and a handmade card from the kids. i know community can't solve everything, BUT.

i’ve been meaning to share this because it has really helped to frame some of our household thoughts on not just the election outcome but more importantly what to do next and ways to move forward. also something i’ve really enjoyed is watching my boss, who is from a very incredibly small town in rural wisconsin, really start to expand her beliefs about people and society and community and is now looking for things to do/ways to make a difference that don’t just involve doomscrolling and being mad. five years ago i don’t think she would have had any interest in reading this, but yesterday i texted her the link. anyway keeping here for my reference but it’s a good read imo
