Milevens are not serious because like you donโt even need to analyse the show that deeply to get the point of Mike gay Byler endgame across.
If you just state the actual series of events itโs proof enough.
Iโm pretty sure Mike and Will go on more dates canonically than Mike and El do. And like oh they donโt consider them dates itโs just platonic. Yeah said every gay person on a โplatonicโ outing.
Season 4 opening with rants about โforced conformity thatโs whatโs killing the kidsโ and Eddie literally mentioning sodomy as a target of the Satanic panicโฆ
And the Season ENDS with Mike โconfessing his loveโ to El, which is literally not enough to save people
And the vines around her own neck tighten and strangle her more
THAT is forced conformity killing the kids. THAT is forced conformity KILLING EL.
Stating the obvious facts that (1) Max said Mike will come crawling back to El and apologise moping and begging for forgiveness, (2) him not doing that for El, and then (3) him doing that for Will. That is genuinely barely even analysis, that is just restating exactly what happened on the show.
The fact that Mike is so happy to see the painting and then his smile drops when he finds out โEl commissioned itโ. Like that is just an observable fact.
Mike saying โI built the bomb, I should be able to pick the songโ is literally saying HE. BUILT. THE. BOMB. And his reaction to El sacrificing herself. If that is a serious couple, she wouldโve told him I donโt care. Argue with the wall.
^ This is actually SO unserious
That is not good Finn acting. That is Finn acting bad on purpose ๐ซช
If you just explain plot points and literal things that happenโฆ likeโฆ
El hits someone with a roller skate. Mike says โwhat did you doโ and then she has a flashback to Brenner saying โwhat have you doneโ. That is actually the MOST direct line of analysis between scenes. That is the MOST logical conclusion to make. In relation to El, Mike is like Papa.
The Mirror Universe ๐ช
I soo badly want to know the reason behind why so many consistent character items were reversed in S5 - such as:
Watches on opposite wrists:
Reversed shoe colours (Mike & Will):
Flipped doorknob positions:
I was reading about the mirror universe which led me to quantum physics and CPT symmetry, which states:
CPT symmetry is a fundamental rule in physics. It states that the laws of nature stay the same if you simultaneously flip three things: Charge (C) to antimatter, Parity (P) through a mirror, and Time (T) backward.
And itโs been theorised that actually, before the Big Bang created our universe, there was a mirror universe of anti-matter:
Whatโs even cooler, is that we have a โKey Machineโ in real life known as The "CERN machine" or the Large Hadron Collider (LHC):
the world's largest and most powerful particle accelerator, which is testing elements of this fundamental CPT theory by colliding particles against anti-matter particles:
Looks familiar right??
Hadron Collider vs. The Key Machine
But then we see this concept of a mirror universe in fiction too!
The most famous being Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, which seems to be a direct inspiration for S5:
First things first, the story starts with Alice going through a mirror above the fireplace into a mirrored world:
The entire world is a game of chess, and each move she makes has an obstacle:
This part reminds me of Will remembering memories that he shouldnโt:
Each move is broken up by a Chapter, and she can win in 11 moves. She ends up winning in 8 moves, this journey broken up by 8 Chapters.
8 Chapters you say?
The thing about a CPT mirrored universe, is that the future happens first & goes backwards, which is what the S5 episode list reminds me of ๐ผ
You physically move in reverse, time literally goes backwards (Vecnaโs clock anyone) ๐ฐ๏ธ
Makes me think of what Steve said:
However! This CPT symmetry concept has been depicted in the film TENET. And to navigate the reverse world they literally had to wear oxygen masks because you breathe backwards too:
Butโฆapparently the theory wasnโt portrayed accurately. This is also because it has never been observed in reality. So technically we can see it visualised in creative ways!
The scary thing is; it is said that if all three elements of Charge (C) Parity (P) and Time (T) were violated all at once - the consequences would be catastrophic as the law of physics would be untethered, meaning thereโs no prediction what could happen to the universe.
(Unpredictable results such as: the dial changing colour, maps that keep shifting locations, incorrect memories, reversed items, a radio station weโve never seen before?)
And from a narrative POVโฆwerenโt all 3 options the characters made violated? Made against their nature?
With the CERN machine similarities to the Key machine, it makes me wonder if it โflippedโ reality somehow and untethered their minds in the process.
Anyway, Iโm no quantum physicist so take everything Iโve researched with a grain of salt, I just want an answer for all the reversed props ๐
"why didnt they resolve the painting?"
u rlly think mike would be capable of not kissing will if he knew it was a confession? dont be ridiculous
Don't come at me for saying this but I do believe that the reason, the actual main reason why people usually see Will as the more feminine and submissive part of byler and usually put him as bottom is because he's gay. That's it. Will is canonically gay so he has to be "the girl". It's all homophobia. Like it comes from homophobia and gay stereotypes. Will is gay in canon so he has to be "the woman" and feminine in a way that feels derogatory and insulting to him and relies on disrespectful gay stereotypes and misogyny (because according to misogyny the woman has to be submissive to the man). Mike is not canonically confirmed to be gay and so in the fandom that makes him "less gay" than the confirmed gay character and therefor less feminine too. Cause he's only "technically gay". So he is "the man" of the relationship and has to be the dom top because heteronormative misogyny.
People also never let Mike enjoy gay or overall queer experiences. He doesn't get to wear crop tops or makeup or want to feel pretty or sit on Will's lap or be a little girly and fuck around with his gender. Mike doesn't get to be feminine, he doesn't get to be gay because he's straight in textual canon and so he has to be the man who never shows any genuine emotions and never has any desires other than to fuck this other guy who is actually gay. Mike isn't allowed to be involved in gay culture, he doesn't do gay culture. Mike doesn't get wanting to be taken care of or wanting to submit or wanting to bottom because that's Gay and Mike Isn't Gay. Will is gay though so he Has to do all those things!!!! That's what people sound like when they get pressed about bylers who like or prefer bottom Mike btw. They think making him bottom is emsaculating for Mike and therefor that's bad because he isn't gay enough to be emasculated or whatever.
I've seen many explanations as to why this specific dynamic for byler has become so much the norm and is being so agressively pushed on everyone, when, if you actually watch the show, you'll see that Mike is much more of a caretaker (stereotypically feminine trait) and behaves more "submissive" around Will, literally physically putting himself below Will multiple times, and both of them show signs of experimenting with gender and being more gender non conforming. But I do think that, out of all the reasons this could have, it all boils down to the fact that in textual canon Will is gay and Mike isn't. And gay men are always more feminine than straight men, according to homophobes. And I'm not saying bylers are homophobes, but I do think that that is the underlying issue we need to work on here, the reason for why this intense need for Will to be sub bottom and Mike to be dom top exists in this fandom.
The show tells you that Will had to deal with period typical homophobia, being called sensitive and queer and literal slurs, being called girly things and weak just because they think he's gay. That's how he's being introduced to viewers. And fans just go along with it (even though not too long before that they saw a whole scene of Will being very brave and strong, knowing how to use a literal gun!! but whatever that doesn't count I guess). Theyโlikely unconsciouslyโuse this exact thing to justify why Will has to be submissive, why he has to be bottom. And then what they're actually doing is using the homophobia that Will has faced for so long against him, to police his sex life and act like their view of it should be only correct one, when queer sex is so much more than lazy heteronormative dynamics.

i love how different both of their internalized homophobia is.
Will's is more "I'm gay and I shouldn't be."
Mike's is more "I can't be gay."
How? Just how can someone have doubts towards Conformity Gate happening?!
I find it so funny.
Sure, it sounds insane on paper but that is not something we need to bother with.
The question is how this will be done. For now, the possible is beyond our control. Leave it to them. It will pay off. They control the narrative now. But they gave us clues.
Are you paying attention to details?
The last line, especially, is so telling.
"Individuality is treated as a severe crime".
Institutionalized opression. A society built by walls of fear. The system is the evil. They want to padronize each one of us behaviour, look, ideas. Taking the things that make us ourselves. That's forced conformity. We do not need that.
They know what they're doing. There wasn't no Netflix pressure to release Stranger Things 5. There wasn't doubts in the writers room regarding the ending. They never filmed a scene without first knowing exactly what would happen next. They had never written season 5 alone. They wrote the two seasons together. Four and Five. That's a factual thing, they said it. Do the search! Open the curiosity door. Whatever.
They are telling you lies. Not because they are evil or stupid to the max.
The truth is they are pretending to be in the conformity state of mind. They are denying, denying, denying,... Building a fun collision between reality and fiction through media. Meta. Every time they speak, they are secretely being comsumed by fear. On purpose. Acting. In a play.
Behind them, the wall. The big brother. It.
It's a strange season. Flawed. Flayed. Broken. But I've seen what's next. I was deceived and I want the truth soon.
The concept of Conformity was introduced by Eddie in season 4. Season 5 we see how it goes.
Season 5 showed us a lot of inconsistencies... Minor details but also characters acting a little weird. Hopper.
Why is Hopper acting like a soulless man? He never says something important to Eleven until later on. When she is about to reveal her plan. Almost like he was a totally diferent person. Very unlikeable since the beginning of the season, in my opinion.
He tells Eleven he needs her to"fight one last time,โ before adding: โLife has been so unfair to you. Your childhood was taken from you. You've been attacked, manipulated by terrible people. But you never let it break you.โ
And then, he let her kill herself.
Are you noticing how problematic that is?!
Next, see what Mike says here:
Thats SO STUPID, CHILDISH.
Yes, really inspirational dude!
Do that means childish dreams have no space in modern life? Adults need to kill their inner child spirit in order to survive? Lose the magic of imagination? What kind of message is that?!
I'm not saying that Hopper's whole speech with Mike is awful, but that part, i dont know. It feels kinda unrealistic to all the stuff the show has showed us previously. Back to the roots. Season 1. We are introduced to a show about kids (and teenagers) fighting monsters. Kids who use their imagination to look for answers to the whole mystery around Hawkins, Indiana.
Here, "Childish" is used to point to something negative. Why? Because imagination leads to individuality. Conformity needs the death of imagination/ innocense to succeed. They want uniformity, agreement. Empty words like these.
Mike had just become an adult, and he is full of resentment. Toward El's death. The story he can never tell. He likes Will back.
The system is hypocritical. They say good things that make us feel proud, but nothing concrete is actually being done by them to support their claims. Lies. They live!
Eleven is the magic of childhood, and she is dead. She NEEDED to die in order for the kids to grow. Grow in conformity.
That's a very inspirational speech. Many people were touched by it, emotionally. But thats how the system acts. Thatโs bullshit.
Show me the truth. I don't want lies that confort me. I want the real answers.
Lies.
That's what killing the kids.
So what?
Do you want to believe in ...
Fearwinsgate???!!!
No Way.
I can't believe I saw a series so blank. Yes, I said the series. For me it's not just the ending. If the end of a show is bad, the whole series could be poisoned by that.
I don't believe the duffer brothers and their crew are stupid, or unworthy of my admiration after all those years of great moments.
All roads leads to love defeating fear. Breaking the wall. Being freed. Loved. And belonged.
A cynical ending message? No.
It's too ridiculous to be lack of attention.
They said "pay attention to the details" and then we are the ones that are being ridiculous?
Irony sells this theory.
It's not over for me.
So, in my opinion
Spiderman: Brand new day
we could have a global community based world where all the resources are shared and imaginary lines don't matter and instead people really want to keep going to war and dedicating their life to the billionaires and tech oligarchs

The marketing of breaking the code
So. When they used AI in the documentary. That infamous scene is part of the big lie they're perpetuating. They are breaking the code for us. Very smart indeed.
What if I told you season 5 was written by AI. A part of it. The wrong part. The bad side. The theatrical release... you get it.
That's why everything feels so mediocre to bad. Because that's the bad side. They want us to notice. One more hint. On an ocean of endless clues.
They are messing with our minds just like Vecna do to their characters. But the wait has been torture and WE are tired. We know what's coming next.
Can we have any confirmation at this point? Just one little stupid thumbs up? The general audience, as stupid as they are, will never notice. Its a message to the part of the fandom that didn't conform. Us.
But the confirmation is already here folks. By knowing how the marketing goes. The lie they are making us accept
Breaking the code.
The marketing might have been inspired by movies that creators love. Like, The Matrix.
Lets look at what the team behind the fourth movie, Matrix Resurrections (2021) did to sell their product.
The marketing fully embraced the fact that it was a sequel made years later, commenting on the Hollywood industry itself.
What they did:
"WhatIsTheMatrix.com", a website that allowed the user to choose the red or blue pill.
Reminds you of something?
Oh my god.
Nothing is a coincidence anymore, you see?
We are unraveling the matrix.
Depending on the choice and the time the user clicked, the generated teaser changed in real time, narrating the correct time in the real world.
The marketing exposed the digital illusion, showing that the viewer was being controlled by algorithms and codes while trying to watch a teaser about... control and codes.
The did it twice as well. Originally launched as a flash site in 1999, the site was revived for The Matrix Resurrections to feature interactive video clips, teasers, and the "blue pill or red pill" choice.
They are doing something so unique here. A message to the younger generations about indentity and mass culture that attempts to silence it.
I finally see. It's a comentary on media and the movie industry.
Epilgue Byers was producing a independent movie about a "The Consumer", a metaphor of capitalism. The consumer, which is us and the industry: "the more she eats the hungrier she gets".
Netflix, the Stranger Things fans.
The system seen through cold lenses. The more shows we watch that are good, the more we want.
And with all this eagerness for more, the final product is a worse version of what it should be. Less original, less interesting.
The pioneering campaign in "breaking the code" of what is real and what is fiction in horror cinema was "The Blair Witch Project" movie, 1999.
The official website that promoted the indie movie treated the missing actors as real people. False "Missing Persons" pamphlets were distributed at universities and film festivals. X a lie.
They broke the code of traditional studio marketing (which always sells stars and directors) and adopted the cold, raw language of a real police documentary, making the audience question the very nature of the film format, evem outside the theather.
A blur between the lines of fiction and reality.
We are the stars.
Hom much time media consume from us?
Like now, while im writting.
Okay so following this post by @echostep-ao3 I thought that if they really changed season 1 after the fact and just reverted back to that for the VHS version, there must be remnants of the original season 1 version somewhere... Proof that how the demogorgon rips through the ceiling used to be the gooey-stretchy like version, not the plaster breaking apart one. Lo and behold, there are a bunch of clips on YouTube showing the VHS version of the ceiling break-through.
Here's an example:
Compared to the current version on Netflix and the VHS version:
Some examples of clips showing the unedited version:
this one from December 2025
this one from August 2024 (here you can also find the second difference of that scene pointed out by @lavenderlatte222 in this post btw)
another one from just before the VHS version released in July
So it seems that there are pirated versions out there that were uploaded before they edited the scene, and all of these people are using those 'outdated' uploads for clipping. The Duffers have admitted to George Lucas'ing some things in earlier seasons but never revealed what exactly they edited (x). They usually claim to do it for continuity or just fixing mistakes; but if that's the case then why change it back in the VHS version?
And in case you noticed any other discrepancies between the current Netflix version and the VHS version, then those uploads might prove useful... Hmmm...
Demogorgon Difference
S1E8 (timestamp 15:48)
Original version vs. VHS special edition:
Original version: The demogorgon puts its arm on whatever's on the ground there and opens its mouth.
VHS version: The demogorgon just stands up and stands there.
The audio seems to be the same in both versions.
Another difference.
Original version vs. VHS special edition:
Original version: It looks like there's UD membrane, and the ceiling is cracking.
VHS version: It looks like the ceiling itself is more membrane-like.
There's also a white line on the screen right before this all happens.

Remember when it took three years and half a billion dollars to create eight lousy, boring, nonsensical episodes of Stranger Things? Episodes that managed to be jam packed with filler content, yet couldn't manage to resolve the majority of the plot points that had been built upon over multiple seasons?
And remember when absolutely all of the marketing for the final season was false advertising, and everything the cast and writers said about the season was a straight up lie?
Where exactly did all that money go?
Season 4 was bigger than season 5, by a significant margin, and, I dare say, it had far superior special effects. It had more impressive marketing campaigns, too, like with the Upside Down leeching into real world cities.
So, yeah, where did all that money go?
The Lost Boys, from 1987. A movie that season 5 was inspired by.
The protagonist is a dude named Michael.
The name references Peter Pan's "Lost Boys", who never grow up, mirroring the immortal, youthful nature of vampires.
He is becoming an adult. A vampire.
Some of the movie's themes of a fatal, blood-borne contagion spreading among young, could work like an thematic allegory for the escalating AIDS crisis of the 1980s.
There is a lot of references to HIV in the background of scenes from season 5. But none of that was really shown in depth. Look for youselves!
"Hawkins, that song was so good, if you played it loud enough, it would wake anyone up from a long, long, deep sleep. Like, really deep."
Who?
"Mike, wake up"
A wake up call.
[It's My Life by Talk Talk plays]
WAKE UP MICHAEL
One of the movie's song, believe it or not, itโs called: "I Still Believe"
