just started rewatching st1 and realized something that feels important. if anyone has made a more detailed post about this pls link it so i can read!
but in the opening dnd scene there is an army of troglodytes. the party is relieved at first because they think that’s all there is. once they think they’re relatively safe, the demogorgan arrives.
i’m pretty sure i’ve seen people discuss this scene in general in relation to conformitygate, but here is something interesting that i haven’t seen before:
troglodytes, the creatures the party feels comfortable defeating without difficulty, live in caves. like henry’s cave. they also stink, like all the references to foul smells we’ve seen throughout the st universe.
vecna is the troglodyte that the party defeated easily, and the demogorgan is the even bigger bad yet to come (maybe brenner/the lab).

new birthdaygate/alternate timelines clue:
i haven’t been on here in ages, so pls forgive me if someone else has already mentioned this.
i’ve been looking through the tudum files and they got max’s age wrong.
on her permanent record card (shown above) it says her grad year is 1990 and her birthday is 4/10/1972. this doesn’t add up with the timeline we see in the show or max’s novel (*i do give a little less weight to the novel even though it is canon since it wasn’t written by the duffers but still). according to the novel she turned 13 in july 1984, making her birthday july x, 1971, which adds up with them going into 8th grade that year. however, if will was 11 when he was taken like joyce said in s5, and we shifted the entire timeline by a year, then max’s changed age in the files fits ‼️

but these are all screenshots from the glitches throughout the clip, then the beginning and end shots of finn watching himself. notice the person in the bottom left disappears in the second pic, and finn in the top right disappears in the third. the looping for the close up shots of finn is easier to tell with the actual video ofc, but the pics are pretty identical and give you an idea. one is from the beginning and the other is from the end.
