I would have actually loved if they stuck with some aspects of the first draft when filming Scream.
For anyone wondering what aspects I'm talking about, I implore you to check out 'Beyond The Mask' on YouTube. They have a lot of videos covering and analyzing this exact topic.
If you've already seen them, however, you would know I'm talking about how both Billy and Stu were groomed and 🍇ed by Sydney's mother, Maureen Prescott when they were both around the ages of 15-16. I think that the topic of female predators isn't explored enough in modern media and could've been a great representative of this topic in Scream.
Of course, this movie is a bit more lighter toned in the final cut, the motivations being less... Dark.. to shed more light on Billy and Stus pure bloodlust and craziness. I think that if changed around enough, it definitely could adopt those motives.
It also could work as a message, in a way. Even if you've been heavily traumatized in the past, you don't own the right to traumatize others. (It would make the killing of Maureen more justified, and in that they wouldn't be completely guilty) It could have been a way to say to the audience
"hey, even if you've been fucked up before, don't do that shit to other people. Don't continue the cycle of abuse."
Still, im happy with the story they decided to go with and have little to no complaints about it. Im simply stating a 'What If'.
