Simon and Grace's Wedding was a sweet affair.
They put on special clothes Simon weaved, pierced ears months ago to put in celebratory Erridian wear when the day arrived. Gathered a good harvest and opened one of their bottles of wine that they'd been fermenting and testing.
The ceremony was private. As private as it can get when you're the only two humans on the planet, with your alien friends bringing their kids to watch.
There was not much to sign. No legal way to go. So they say vows, promise to love one another, kiss, and in a sweet big of Erridian culture, did what Erridians did. Circled interlocking tattooed on their arms to match the other's skin tone. Because obviously, a skin graft of each other's flesh would be a bad idea. As much as Adrian and Rocky pressed that it never hurt when they punched out a bit of their carapaces to swap and embed.
Funnily, rocky didn't see it as much. All they did was smush faces and announce that they were suddenly together. Which was not much different from when they announced being boyfriends. Unlike Erridian traditions, that had courting, ceremonial acts, attraction dances-
So when Grace first claimed they were divorced after a mild fight, which was sarcastic more than anything, he thought nothing of it.
Until some months later Rocky put his foot down.
"Grace Simon bad at marriage. Keep getting divorced."
Which made Simon look up from his weaving loom, Grace looking up from his book where he was sitting against the other man's back on the bench wrapped in his quilt. "Divorced? Since when?" Simon asked.
"All time! Grace always call divorce! Both bad at marriage! Stop getting married! Rocky find better Erridian Mate for Grace. Simon too plain."
"Well it's good to finally know what you think of me," Simon said sarcastically as Grace sat up.
"Pal, we haven't gotten divorced. We're still together."
"No, Grace call divorce all time. Fourteen time. Grace do better," Rocky said firmly as Adrian settled into the ground with a heavy thud outside the house, listening from outside the open window. "Simon not that good a mate anyway. Adrian agree?"
Both humans looked to the teal green Erridian, who was quiet for a few moments.
"... Grace okay. Grace not as impressive as Rocky think." Adrian says, making Ryland laugh.
But Rocky is not laughing.
Anyway, Bloodmary fake relationship problems giving their bestie aliens real relationship problems.
