I’ve never seen anyone hate on a metalhead’s taste in music quite like a fellow metalhead with a slightly different preferred sub genre of metal. What band would you say is most likely to cause Billy and Eddie to get into a fistfight over whether they count as “real” metal?
This is so fucking true lmfao
It has to be a glam metal band like Poison or something because they were arguably one of the more “commercial” of the hair metal bands. And here’s the thing - here’s the thing - Billy does not give a fuck about what’s actually “technically” Real Metal or not. What Billy can’t stand is when someone is ruining the vibe when he’s just trying to listen to a goddamn song while he’s working out… but Eddie who is his pain in the ass roommate is An Obnoxious Pedant cares a lot about music from a technical perspective and won’t shut the fuck up needs Billy to know why the artist he is listening to shouldn’t be in the metal section of the record store* because it’s “technically hard rock” so Billy gets WAY too defensive in return and they end up rage baiting each other back and forth for days.
*I do think it’s funny that I can walk into different record stores and see the same artist categorized as metal in one store and not metal in another depending on who is in charge.
obviously there's a tonne of overlap in their musical tastes BUT! what music (song or band or whatever) do you think billy looooves that Eddie can't stand, and vice versa?

I think they’re going to connect the most over Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal, but Billy also enjoys Hard Rock and Glam Metal because of where he grew up (and because he firmly believes good metal is metal that can get you laid) and Eddie is not a big fan because he’s not like Other Girls. (They are the Me vs. Other Girls meme and they are kissing on the mouth). Anyway, Eddie gets into first wave Black Metal that Billy thinks is for nerds and sounds like ass.
I can imagine their road trip conversation goes something like…
Eddie: C’mon man. Turn off this California Bullshit and play some real metal!
Billy: Whatever, nerd. Real metal gets you laid.
Eddie: Like I don’t get laid… we fucked yesterday asshole!
Billy: Yeah, and what were we listening to?
Eddie: Oh, fuck you…
Billy: As I said…
Eddie: That doesn’t count!
