Authors note: This isn't necessarily a part of my triplet AU but it could be, so it will be listed under there owo Keys part was heavily inspired by IDV and my shameless daydream of going pro with my @billacookie some day ^^

Steve isn't much of a gamer the first half of his life, but after he meets Dustin and graduates, he has way too much time on his hands and no other friends to speak of. As a result he finds himself spending more and more time at the arcade start of summer. At first he tries to play it cool, as if he's just there to keep an eye on the kids, but after some convincing he gives it a try as well. So when the time comes around and he's completely run out of ideas to take you on dates, he'll suggest that, acting like he doesn't really know what he's talking about, like it's just some whimsical idea that came to him just then. But once you get there, it becomes painfully obvious that Steve knows his way around the place even with his eyes closed. He points out his favourite games with a silly smile, seeming a bit more comfortable than he'd actually like to be, and you take note that they're all competitive ones as well. After a while you grab his wrist and it causes him to stop instantly, his brown eyes becoming self aware and a slight blush appearing on his cheeks. 'It's just... the kids, you know? I took them here all the damn time.' He tries to play it off, but you shake your head with a chuckle. 'Sure... Bet I can beat you at every single one of these though, Harrington.' Your voice brings out his competitive side again and he forgets to be embarrassed in an instant. 'Uhuh, we'll see about that, sweetheart.' His voice sounds cocky as he puts his arms around you from behind and picks you up with ease, turning you to face the first game of the day you will tackle together.

Gaming is kind of a staple in yours and Kurt's time spent together. Kurt isn't into complicated story heavy games though. He rather enjoys first person shooters and sandbox games. Things with easy directives and quick to get to the point. Minecraft, Fortnite, Call of duty, League of legends, Dead by daylight, Unraveled, Animal crossing and the likes. Very early on he tends to abscond with you to his bedroom to get you into any one of these games. Kurt sucks at traditional dating and making alot of conversation anyway, so he always tries to throw in an activity when he does find himself alone with you and feels these butterflies becoming a bit sickening. Once he has something to vent that energy into, he won't stop talking though. He keeps checking on your reactions too, his head excitedly turning back and forth, his hair in his eyes and his clammy hands grip onto yours from time to time. He touches you surprisingly easy when he takes the controller, or tries to show you how to do a certain shortcut or combination. It isn't until he feels your fingers against his cheek that he flinches and pauses, closing his eyes cutely and huffing a bit grumpy when you run your fingers across his forehead to adjust his fringe a little for him. 'There, now it won't get in the way.' You explain, but he whines. 'Y/n, did you see what I just did...?' The way more important matter in his opinion. 'Yeah... I'm always watching you, Kurtis.' He feels his face flush as he looks down at his controller. You were really unfair sometimes... This love game was one he couldn't best you in for sure.

Keys and gaming, you have never known it any other way for the entirety of your lives together. Ever since you lived next to each other as kids, it's been the main activity the two of you get up to on a daily basis. So gaming always holds meaning for you two, no matter what it is you decide to do. But this situation... is definitely new, and Keys doesn't realise he's stopped breathing until he inhales sharply. The stage and lights seeming too bright for his liking, it's daunting... And right now he just misses his room and his comfy chair. He frowns, his hands nervoulsy fidgeting around until he eventually hears the announcer start their bit. That makes him realise that this is actually happpening, the fans reacting in cheers meaning that he really does have to go out there... He turns on his heels, half determined to leave, but he is instantly met with you... All clad in your spiffy clothes and right there to stop him dead in his track. His eyes nervously avoid your stare and he ends up reading the sponsorships on your shirt to distract himself. 'Keys... Calm down, we got this, this is no different from what we've always done.' He almost interrupts you, almost, but when you do finish, his hand shoots up to nervously touch his glasses. 'It isn't though, it's the finals, Y/n...' The road here had been long, and this was much more your doing than his, but here he was... As always a slave to your wishes but loving every moment of it. Professional competititve gaming... The finals. He feels your fingers brush against his as you grab his hand though, and again he lets go of a repressed sigh. 'Just me, you, and our friends gaming, Keys... That's all it is.' And he tries to believe you. Still his heart almost stops when you drag him onto that stage and he feels the entire world watching over his shoulder.
