“Why the hell do they have to always run?”

That was the question Yu Takeyama AKA Mount Lady asked herself as she stomped carefully through the city in pursuit of a villain. It was hardly worth losing sweat over, just some no name robbing a jewelry store to make a quick buck. But his getaway driver had a quirk that could let anything he grabbed phase through objects, including other cars on the road. Quirks these days really were bullshit.

Speed wasn’t exactly Mount Lady’s forte, but she was the closest hero in the area and she responded quickly. Turning giant did allow her some enhanced speed, enough to keep up with the car itself, but the idea for how she was gonna stop the damn thing was beyond her. She was already stepping as carefully as she could to avoid damaging parts of the city. She couldn’t put her foot down in front of it. The car would just phase right through and keep going. She could keep pursuit, but she needed backup if she wanted to stop these guys before they got too far.

“This is Mount Lady!” She shouted into her ear communicator as she kept running. “I’m in pursuit of two jewelry store thieves headed south on the Endoru Highway! Requesting immediate backup! Driver has a phasing quirk! Repeat! Driver has a phasing quirk! Any heroes with-ACK!”

Mount Lady’s thoughts and speech were brought to a grinding halt as she felt her face impact with multiple small objects. Turning around, she saw a flock of birds had scattered around her head and flew off in another direction when she swatted a hand at them.

“Mount Lady! What happened? Are you alright?”

That was one of her sidekicks on the other side of the call. Bringing her finger back up to her ear, the giant heroine responded and began to turn back to the highway.

“I’m fine! Villain is still driving on….on…..ngh! H-eh….w-what the…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Mount Lady was rudely interrupted by the feeling of a massive tickle spreading inside her nose. Not only that, it felt like something was moving in there.

Oh shit. One of the birds got up her nose and was probably stuck.

Now she could feel the many many feathers on its body frantically rubbing against the walls of her nasal passage trying to get free. Normally whenever a sneeze would creep up on Mount Lady while she was giant, she would just pinch her nose and that would usually quell the itch. But if she did that, she would probably squish the bird and she did not want that inside of her nostril.

“H-heh….heh…..sh-shit….bird up my nose!” She managed to get out. “I’m gonna sneeze!”

“What?! Hold it in!” The sidekick shouted.

“C-caaahhh….can’t! Bird…w-woh…won’t….stop flapping!” An index finger went under Mount Lady’s nose as she stumbled away from the chase and started to make her way towards the ocean. There was a beach nearby. If she could let loose there, the damage would just be a temporary closure of the beach for cleanup. That was doable. But her giant sneezes could level a city block if they blew out of her in the wrong place.

“Heh…headed for…heh…heeehhh….Buh…Bespin Beach! Heh! Heh…Oh god it’s coming!”

“Already getting in contact with nearby heroes and police to evacuate the beach! Get there before your nose wins!”

Trying to move while stuck in a pre-sneeze daze was always a challenge. Slowly Mount Lady could feel her nose stealing away all control of her body. Even lifting a leg could become an uphill battle while she was in combat with her sinuses. Every breath she took only made the desire to sneeze stronger. Down below, she could hear the citizens of Japan either running away, or whipping out their phones for a photo or video.

“Heh….g-get out of the way! Can’t you….see that I…hehh…..heeeehhh……..oh…n-no….no….h-hold it! Heh….H-hold it! HOLD IT!”

That index finger rubbed furiously as the bird’s wings flapped like mad, trying to get free from whatever forest of nose hair it had gotten trapped in within the deep contours of her nasal cavity. Mount Lady now was struggling to keep her eyes open as the sneeze built closer to its zenith. Just a few more giant steps, and she’d be in the clear.

“Heeeehhhh……heeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhh….HEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHH!!!!!!” Those breaths of hers were now echoing throughout the district like an alarm. The last thing Mount Lady could make out before her eyes slammed shut were police cars and heroes at the beach evacuating the citizens, giving her clearance to let loose.

Just a few more steps and she’s was golden.

…..unfortunately, she couldn’t even get one.

“HEH! HEEEEEEEEH! HHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHH!!!..................................................................................HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHSSHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!”

The battle was lost, and Mount Lady’s poor nose not only freed the bird from her nostril, but also let loose a torrent of wind that impacted right into the top of a skyscraper that was still being constructed. The entire top half went flying forward and spread across the beach and into the ocean, embedding into the sand and water like knives.

As the sneeze subsided, so did Mount Lady’s size. Her quirk now off and her nose satisfied, she rushed forward, horrified by what she may have just done. Did she hurt anyone? Or worse?

Thankfully, no.

The beach was cleared on time and the building was on the edge of the city enough to where all the debris she sneezed away fell on no other parts of the city. She held out just long enough to avoid a catastrophe.

Unfortunately not long enough to avoid an insurance compensation from the owners of the building being constructed.
