Updike smiled as curled up around his kitten Lily and gently kissed her head. He was relaxed at the moment, the warmth from the fire warming both his fur and Lily’s fur. Lily purred as she rubbed up against him, making Updike purr as well.

Updike nodded, then looked back at the fish. The fish seemed to be done on it’s current side, so he turned the stick so the other side could cook.
The little creature purred and nuzzled him, curling up into a lil circle on his lap.
Updike put down the collar next to him. He then started to gently pet Stone as he watched the fish.
It chirped and nuzzled up into his hand, purring louder. Friend! Eating fishes and hunting and snuggling with big friend!!
Updike started to purr too, happy and relaxed.

Updike took the uneaten fish, then picked up another stick and stuck it in the fish’s mouth. He then used a few more sticks to hold the fish over the fire.

It whined and sunk down into his fur. Mad?? Sounded mad.. was making the mad noise! It is hiding itself in the fluff.

He gave stone a gentle lick on its forehead.
Its pupils dilated and it cheeped. Not angry? “Mrrrr?” It bapped his hand, nuzzling him. Not mad anymore? Maybe was just a little mad. Or not mad at him?

He stared at the river for a bit, concentrating as he slowly raised his hand. A minute or so later, he swiped his hand down quickly, grabbing a fish.
Stone purred and nuzzled back. Big soft friend! He settled down and became loaf like a cat. Roundt,,,
It watched him fish eagerly, doin’ a lil chirp when he caught the fish. Hunting! Go big friend!!
Updike held the fish for a moment, then put the fish in his mouth, holding it by the tail as he walked back over to stone.
He dropped the fish in front of it.
“Cub eat…”
It did happy lil peeps at him, nuzzling him and starting to eat the competitively large fish. So much food! Big friend was good at hunt!
Updike smiled at it, then went back to the river to go get another fish.
Big friend get many fishes!! Stone became loaf again and watched him fish, nibbling at his own food.
A few minutes later, Updike managed to nab another fish. He held it by its tail as he brought it over to stone and dropped it in front of them.
Its eyes widened at that. Is big friend giving it to him? He can’t eat that much! He is too small!
He blinked at the fish, and then at Updike, making a confused little noise.
Updike nudged the fish closer to stone.
“Cub eat…”
But was too small!! Full of food already! It nudged the fish back, pointing at the mostly-eaten one. See? Too small! Could only eat most of big fish! Not big enough for many fishes!
Updike grumbled for a moment, then understood what stone was trying to get across.
He checked around for a moment, then stood up on two legs. He then started gathering dried plants, fallen sticks, and rocks.
“Rrrrr?” It watched, intrigued by the odd actions. Why gather? Was for using? Stone help! He hopped off the rock and grabbed some dry sticks, trailing after Updike and holding them. It was helping!!
Updike looked back at stone and smiled. It was so cute!
Once he had gathered enough, he kneeled down on one of the large, dry rocks by the river. He then made a circle out of the rocks, filled the middle of the circle with the dried plants, then made a cone on the dried plants out of the sticks.
Stone added the sticks it collected to the cone, doin a lil peep. He helped!! But what was friend making? It watched the structure very closely.
