due to his lower jaw literally being torn off, he has a little trouble speaking, but he has telepathy due to Reasons

1. "what did people ever see in c! karlnapity?"

what I saw in c karlnapity and what I STILL see, is three people all going through things but still finding the time to love each other and care for each other through it. I see three people who found each other at the right time. I see HEALTHY PORTRAYAL OF A POLYAMROUS RELATIONSHIP IN MEDIA. LET ALONE A GAY POLY RELATIONSHIP.

2. "they got engaged and did nothing with it..."

c karl and c sapnap fell in love from day 1 , they almost immediately got engaged because of how infatuated they were with each other. built a honeymoon spot, did everything together. they followed each other through thick and thin. then comes in c quackity. he found karl and fell for him quick. he remarked multiple times how he was upset that karl and sapnap were getting married, even directly said once to tommy and tubbo, "I wanna go to war with karl for marrying sapnap". he was jealous. then comes the day they all decide to get engaged. c sapnap becomes upset because c karl is flirting with c quackity, and c karlnap are already engaged at this time. well, they have a little argument, and c quackity and c sapnap decide to get "revenge" on c karl by being with each other. they both realise "hey we still really love karl though :(" and that's when the discussion of a poly relationship happens. they agree, and they talk about inviting people to the wedding. they spend the rest of the night hanging out with each other, now newly engaged.

and what this particular person seems to think is that it stops there BUT IT DOESNT! IT REALLY DOESN'T! don't forget they go on to create mexican lmanberg/el rapids together as partners (during this time every stream they would have cute little moments) , sapnap protecting quackity during doomsday (quackity calling out "sapnap hold me!"), karl protecting quackity from the egg by giving him warnings, c karlnap + c george planning to invite c quackity to kinoko, c quackity making FUCKING CASINOS for them, c quackity making another eiffel tower like karlnaps honeymoon spot, quackity making a place for weddings and when touring people that section of las Nevada's saying "for if you want to get married to any significant others" PLURAL. BECAUSE HE'S THINKING OF TWO PEOPLE. PERSONAL ANTICDOTES, and much much more that I could go on about.

3. "and expected us to feel sad when they broke it off."

read above, they did not do nothing with it, there was plenty of reason to feel sad with all they had been through together.

AND ALSO. THEY HAVE NEVER OFFICIALLY BROKEN IT OFF!!!! NOT ONCE HAVE THEY EVER SAID THAT!!!!!! ARE WE IGNORING THAT C QUACKITY DIDN'T TELL THEM WHERE HE WAS GOING? ARE WE IGNORING THAT C GEORGE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT KNOWS AND HE HASN'T EVEN TOLD C KARLNAP? ARE WE FORGETTING THAT C KARL WAS GONNA TELL HIM ABOUT KINOKO BUT MEMORY ISSUES AND NOT KNOWING WHERE HE'S AT GOT IN THE WAY? ARE WE FORGETTING C SAPNAP IS CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR C QUACKITY? THEY ARE LITERALLY JUST HAVING COMMUNICATION ISSUES.

I have no intention of arguing with people determined to boil quackity down to a one note villain, but this is a point that I've thought about a lot.

here's the truth that a lot of dream apologists don't like acknowledging: it's Both true that no one deserves to be tortured And that dream's actions lead him to the position that he's in now.

lets start from the beginning and work our way out shall we?

1: quackity is well aware of tommy's exile Actually. he doesn't know the extent of what happened, but dream forcing tommy's exile is Exactly what put him on the hit list. quackity Completely recognized that dream was bending l'manberg to his will, that he was being unfair. and it was Because of the power that he was exerting over l'manberg that quackity identified him as a threat (quackity wasn't there for the revolution, he didn't even know about the disc exchange until he was told).

nobody Made dream exile tommy, george hadn't even known that's what dream was trying to do and he'd accepted the probation as punishment enough at the time (there's a very good break down of george's involvement with the trial here [Link]). dream put a target on his own head by doing this, and he didn't care because he didn't see the new l'manberg cabinet as a threat.

2: dream's arrest was entirely his own fault, point blank. he didn't have to destroy l'manberg, he made the choice to because he didn't think anyone could stop him (and they couldn't at the time). he didn't have to commission a massive prison, he chose to, designing the living conditions and rules himself. he didn't have build an attachments museum and fill it with people's possessions (and skeppy) in order to try to control them, he Chose to do it. he didn't have to send tommy a message inviting him to confront him about the discs with tubbo at a specific place and time, he chose to do it. he didn't have to try to kill tubbo and imprison tommy (presumably Literally forever with the use of the revival book), he Chose To Do That.

dream would not have been arrested if he didn't go out of his way to do terrible things to people. he would not have been arrested if he didn't build the prison that held him.

3: quackity wasn't aware of everything that'd happened in exile, but he Is perfectly aware that something bad happened and he Is angry on tommy's behalf. he Canonically visited tommy, wherein he saw tommy's depression and suicide ideation first hand. He doesn't know what dream is Doing to tommy in exile, but he's well aware of tommy's Mental State in exile, and that dream was a factor in it somehow. [Link 1, Link 2]

then during doomsday dream chose to gloat to tommy on top of the obsidian grid, saying Unashamedly that he destroyed l'manberg because it was fun, that he never intended to stop hurting tommy because He was fun [Link]. quackity was there to hear that, he was there to mourn what dream had done, he comforted ghostbur tommy and tubbo in the aftermath, he told tommy not to trust anyone to protect him (poor advice considering how things would go down, but a clear indication that he Cared about tommy) [Link]

and then of course, the big one that gets its own bullet points

4a: quackity started torturing dream In Response To Tommy's Death, Undeniably So. even if you want to boil quackity down to a one note villain (which dream apologists are very prone to do) This Is Still True.

quackity Originally tried to convince sam to kill dream in the aftermath of tommy's death. no matter how you interpret quackity's motivations, it was sam's guilt Over having let tommy die that almost ended with dream dead (and it was sam's duty to keep dream alive For Tommy because he had the revival book that made him stop).

quackity Wanted Dream Dead before he wanted to take the revival book from him, and this was Explicitly in the aftermath of tommy's death. dream was kept alive during the disc war finale Solely because he had access to the revival book, that is the only reason why he is not already dead. quackity started torturing dream to get the book So That There'd Be No Reason To Keep Dream Alive Anymore. So That They Could Kill Him. and sam Let Him Do That Because Dream Murdered Tommy.

if dream hadn't killed tommy, if dream hadn't Explicitly told sam about how he'd abused tommy in exile, then sam would not have allowed quackity to break the rules. he would not have allowed quackity to Either murder or torture him. which means that dream's actions Lead To his torture Regardless of quackity's motivations.

4b: I'm actually tired of people pretending that quackity isn't deeply emotionally invested in the people that he cares about. quackity and tommy are Friends and have been since he joined the server. quackity was Deeply emotionally affected by tommy's death. we saw him react to the news, the hurt clear in his voice and the way that he shut down afterwards. [Link] we saw him try to Kill Dream in the aftermath of tommy's death. we saw him first overjoyed at tommy's revival and second Furious on tommy's behalf when tommy opened up to him about what he'd experienced.

quackity was There when dream was arrested, he was There when dream said he had the revival book. and yet he didn't do anything about it, made no indication of even wanting it, Until Tommy Had Been Killed. quackity is not a robot, he's not emotionless. he cares So Very Deeply about the people who are important to him, and it's ridiculous to me that some people deny this. that they deny that he went as far as he did with dream because he Cares about the people that dream hurt.

you bring up a really good point—it's interesting to see people talk about the origin of quackity's desire for power, and i think it boils down to this: quackity's always wanted a place to belong, and he realized that the only way that he could belonh was to have power during the manberg era. after being repeatedly stepped on and pushed aside, the destruction of the one build he cared about in manberg, the white house, AS WELL AS the culmination of his mistreatment, was what caused him to defect to pogtopia.

it's true when people say that a major reason why quackity betrayed schlatt was because he realized he wasn't going to have any power, but a lot of people seem to misinterpret that as "quackity was always evil and power-hungry," instead of "quackity might've stayed with schlatt if he hadn't destroyed the white house, but it took the destruction of it for quackity to realize he wasn't ever going to get the respect & authority position he was looking for, and THAT'S why he left"

when quackity first discussed his plans for las nevadas with sam, he described it as a means to gain power over the server by giving everyone gambling addictions. does it sound evil? yeah. is it morally bad? also yeah, and that's something that they acknowledge.

but contextually, the past 2 months had been hell for quackity. he & his fiances had failed to make el rapids officially recognized as a country, and karl lost a life in the middle of it. quackity had led the butcher army, a ragtag team of ex-manberg cabinet members, all with severe unaddressed trauma, into carrying out an execution of someone they perceived as a threat, and quackity lost a life in the process. doomsday happened and the only place outside of el rapids that quackity (and many others) had called a home was destroyed.

it had been 2 months of chaos that quackity had absolutely no control over, despite the fact that he was doing everything he could to get some sense of control. he couldn't control his own country. he couldn't control what happened during the green festival. he couldn't control what happened to new l'manberg during doomsday.

so he made las nevadas into a country that he & his fiances could run together, without any authority telling them what to do, and thus, have power while keeping his attachments (which, i would say, includes his relationships with his loved ones. i think it'd be a pretty safe bet to say that he is very attached to karl & sapnap).

"he has such a twisted sense of helping others means because he thinks that his trauma made him tougher so he ends up traumatising others" is such a good way to put it because quackity is following the textbook guideline of repressing trauma AND he's also trying to convince himself that his shitty actions are justified, despite knowing on some level that his actions are morally reprehensible. (note that trauma =/= an excuse for shitty behavior, though)

and that reflects in his actions: he's all about "las nevadas has no place for emotions" but he's still infinitely kind & patient with tommy and slime. he expresses genuine joy when fundy wears a matching outfit, is very appreciative of foolish when he gets gifted armor, seems genuinely intrigued & supportive when purpled tells him about his building plans. and overall, quackity is always quick to consider their opinions on everything and also encourages them to take the reign in settling conflicts or building things. i won't fool myself and say that they're a true family dynamic because of quackity's initial manipulation, but they're something, and that means a lot quackity.
