Ok, so I've only been in the Skam fandom for a few months, but this is truly the best fandom ever. This show is one of the best shows ever if not the best of all. It's changed me inside like no other movie or show I've ever seen. No wonder why most fans are as they are. nothing against the French actors of SKAM France, but my god could the team just not copy this whole thing basically 1:1? i wrote a 12 page essay & analysis on SKAM (the end speech) and also the production of it. the most important factor that differentiated them from other shows? THE BACKGROUND and RESEARCH of the norwegian teens. so the teens could identify and feel understood and empowered.

SKAM France apparently already filmed two seasons? and hasn’t done any research as much as I have heard? and just literally copied the scenes and everything?

honestly putting ‘official’ subs under the original SKAM would have probably been just as effective

Preach 👏 I think the only remake I will appreciate as much as Skam is the American one that Julie is directing, cause she knows how to do it, and I'm pretty sure she's gonna do her research and take her time to create the next Skam generation with new beautiful stories to tell. I still give them the benefit of the doubt tho.

This is what happens when you dare tell stories that matter. Stories that resonate with people who don’t always get to see themselves in the media they consume. Stories that otherwise remain untold or that are poorly executed and exploited for purposes other than simply telling the story itself. Two actors with little prior experience play a gay boy struggling with stigma and a Muslim girl who internalizes micro-aggressions. And they do it with vulnerability and respect to the subject matter. It’s never a ploy to get viewers or to shock or to sensationalize. They simply tell the story.

And they’re now LITERALLY getting royal treatment.
