Huh?

Hard to believe that I haven’t actually written anything in here, or posted anything here in such a long time. With nothing really politically motivating right now, and the fact that I am pessimistically awaiting this new Commander in Chief, I’ve pretty much kept what few thoughts I have on the situation to myself.

Instead my thoughts have turned to what has historically gone on during this time of year. Being the holidays and Christmas, most people turn to the happiness that that family visits, and food and the such bring to mind. We all see friends and those we care about. The ones that make us feel special.

This time of year is difficult for some as well.

On December 20, it will have been four years since I received a phone call from my friend Hope. In tears, I can still hear her saying, “Cade’s gone.” I remember standing up from my desk at work, staring at nothing as those words shattered through my world. I didn’t if I even understood what it was I had just heard. I don’t remember feeling anything but numb as I responded to her. I don’t remember what I responded. I remember telling my boss that I needed to go, and that I would call when I knew more. I told her what I knew and she walked me to my car.

I don’t know that writing this down, and reaching for memories does any good for me. It all feels so sad. The pain is supposed to go after time passes, but it’s so gripping. It’s never really subsided. The 20th comes and goes, and the pain subsides, but then comes Cade’s birthday and you feel it again.

I know you’re out there Cade. I know you’re with us. I know you’re looking after us.

Recently, I have found that some of my friends have found that the support Hillary in the primary coming up in a month. When asked why, overwhelmingly, they say because she is likely going to win. I'm told, "I really like Bernie Sanders, and agree with him on almost everything, more than I do Clinton, but I just don't think he can beat her."

I think that is part of the problem. There is this mentality in the "voting" process that seems to include the necessity of saying that you voted for the winner. For the "Primary?" Yes. Even for the primary.

Yes, Clinton has a ton of money. A war chest that includes now more than $100M. 

Guess what! Sanders has hit the 3 million donors mark. That is an unprecedented number of supporters. That's individual donors. That is huge. 

The support is there.

The support is growing. 

We can't think that we have to vote for Hillary just because poll data says she has the bigger numbers.

If you agree with her past, and her policy, and you believe she would do a better job, or any of the candidates, for that matter, then vote for them. But recognize, PLEASE, this is your opportunity to vote for who will be the nominee. Do not just put a vote for someone so you can say that you voted for the winner. 

First of all, let me just state for the record, I am not in favor of accusing any law enforcement of deception or intention of harm on anyone. But unfortunately, because we are human, all of us, mistakes are made, and grudges held. 

With that said, let me also iterate, I am only completed with Episode 6 of the program. 

The problem I have with this particular sheriff’s office is the complete lack of ability to properly investigate the case against Steven Avery, or perhaps the absolute ability to so narrow mindedly focus in on one particular suspect, while ignoring any other possibilities.  

There are revelations in the program that stand out as huge gaps of corresponding evidence. You find the alleged’s blood in specific locations of a vehicle hidden on his property, but the investigators found nary a finger print on the vehicle. He had one cut on a finger. If this finger was where the blood came from that was in the car, how could there be blood and no finger print. Did Avery wipe down the car, only leaving the blood?

There was no DNA found in the home of the victim. The crime described by Avery’s nephew in the interrogations describes a brutal scene of abuse with raping, cutting, knives, guns; yet there’s no evidence of this in the home. Investigators spent several days, and more than 5 sweeps of the home not finding any DNA of the victim. The DNA that was found was that of Avery, and other family members, as you would find in anyone else home. What they also did not find was his nephews DNA of any sort in the bedroom where the two allegedly participated in this crime. So I ask again, how does Avery wipe clean any of the victim’s DNA, but able to leave DNA in the home from years of use?

Lastly, the victim was clearly transported in the vehicle as blood from her was found in the cargo hold of the vehicle. If Avery allegedly committed this crime in his bedroom, at home, then burned her body to cinders in the pit behind his home in a bonfire, what was her body put into the vehicle for? What’s the purpose in moving her body using the vehicle? And in using the vehicle for transportation of the body, why not wipe it completely clean of the blood, both hers and his?

That’s the problems I find in the state’s case against Avery. There is evidence of a heinous crime. But there isn’t the necessary corresponding evidence to support Avery’s involvement. And with the past history of this particular department in reference to Avery, in order to support his conviction, if I’m on the jury, I need that corresponding evidence to remove any doubt that the sheriff’s office didn’t false accuse Avery again.

My theory isn’t that the sheriff’s office was responsible for the murder of Teresa Halbach, but that no effort was made to find other suspects.

So, unless Syracuse makes the Final Four, for the most part, Upstate and Western New York serves more as a reference of abomination and boredom. The news that comes out of this region generally appears at a glance; traditionally; almost ironically.

But sometimes, there is a gem. World, this is that gem. Take it for what it’s worth; and enjoy the article below:

I recognize that many of those that know me know that I am a Bernie Sanders supporter. It has nothing to do with not liking Hillary Clinton; nothing to do with not liking Bill Clinton.

I take a look at the issues that affect me; I’m selfish.

I believe in the 2nd Amendment; and the constitution as a whole; but I recognize that as time moves forward, we progress forward as well. The Constitution is a living document, and when changes are necessary, they be ratified. I believe that Wall Street is corrupt, broken and greedy; it really only works for a handful of people that take and take. I believe that the banks that award their executives in bonus that add up to totals in the billions of dollars are NOT to big to fail. I believe in a strong defense that protects our borders, but also protects those that need protecting. I believe in socialist programs; police, fire and other emergency services; roads and interstates; healthcare and hospitals. I believe that our government should represent the interests of the cumulative individuals. I believe that the United States of America is a land of immigrants. It is a melting pot of cultures, races, religions, and in order to become a beacon to the world, it has to continue to be a land of immigrants. Excluding because of fear or hate limits our own experiences that could otherwise be fantastic; we, as a nation, can not limit ourselves by fear. I believe in civil rights for all. I believe that no one in this country should be limited because of their race, culture, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs. I deserve all of the same rights as anyone else deserves.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." — The Declaration of Independence.

These words are set. And I recognize the intent these words had was specific to white, land-owning men. But these words have mean today. “Self-evident.” Obvious. We believe, obviously. “All men are created equal.” Obvious. Everyone. This is not referring to just white-land-owning-men any longer. This is everyone. Men. Women. Regardless of age, gender; anything. We are all humans. World-wide, we are human. “Endowed... certain unalienable Rights... Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Again, obvious. We all deserve the same opportunities. 

I am no less special as a human being than you are. And as long as you and I are respectful, law abiding human beings, and act that way, these rights are ours of life. That does not mean that neither of us can’t have our opinions on how to attain our own “happiness,” as long as that process doesn’t infringe on the rights of others.

Sounds Utopian, doesn’t it? I’m not saying that my candidate will get us there, but I definitely believe that Bernie Sanders has the best interests of the cumulative individuals in mind and is the leader that will represent the majority of the country. 

Do you’re own research. Talk to me. Talk to anyone.

So I titled this, “Elect-ability?”

Why did I do that? I guess because I heard someone say it on CNN, or somewhere. Someone asked Hillary Clinton if Bernie Sanders could win the Presidency. She said that anyone could. She avoided the question. I’m sure anyone would avoid that question.

So yes, the questions I get for pulling for Clemson University have flown at me from several directions. I pull for the University of South Carolina as my home team. I did not go to South Carolina, I have never made donations to the school and what ties I do have are extremely loose.

But Clemson University is a state school, in the state that I live in. I have plenty of friends that have attended Clemson University. I have absolutely no problem pulling for Clemson, when they aren’t playing South Carolina, or Georgia Tech.

I have been to a couple games at the University of Alabama, and of all the teams that I have visited for football, I have never had a more poor experience than deal with the fans at Alabama. There was no hospitality. There was no kindness. There was nothing welcoming about it. It’s a nice facility; a huge stadium, but the fans that I came in contact with were almost an exaggeration of what you’d expect. 

I am all SEC, but the state of South Carolina trumps (can we come up with a better word to describe one over another) my conference.

So I will pull for Clemson tonight!

Seriously, if you don't understand something you've read, or want to verify a quote or look up a candidates policy on something, 'google-it.' Don't assume a candidate believes as you do just because they are running under your party-of-choice.

Secondly, for friends that live in South Carolina, https://info.scvotes.sc.gov/eng/ovr/start.aspx; South Carolina's Online Voter Registration. If you're not yet registered to vote, and you'll be of legal age prior to the election, register! Seriously! And if you're in a different state, refer to the 'Google' link.

Thirdly, it is not a requirement that you vote on Election Day. You can vote early via absentee ballot. If there is any reason to think you might not make it to the lines, Go to Google and search for absentee voting and your state. For south Carolina, https://info.scvotes.sc.gov/…/voterinquiry/VoterInformation…; you may not get your sticker in the mail, but you'll have the peace of mind knowing that you voted and that it was counted.

Election Day is not a national holiday. It should be. Other countries around the world encourage turnout where here voter-suppression is alive and well. It's on a Tuesday (work-day) to prevent a percentage from voting. It should be a national holiday. Here’s the thing; yes. We have successfully sent a vehicle into space and returned it to the ground successfully several times Yes. It has been done.

It’s never been a staged-rocket that delivered it’s payload, and then returned to ground, successfully landing, upright, on a landing pad. SpaceX has done it.

December 20, 2012; easily, one of the worst days of my life. The Christmas season was crushed with the lost of Cade, and my heart has never truly picked up the pieces of what was lost. 

I remember the phone called. I remember the words from Hope, on the other end. I remember “Cade is passed.” I remember standing at my desk, at work, with the phone to my ear, in shock of what I was hearing. It felt like a boulder had hit me in the chest. From that moment, until his body was laid to rest, life was a blur. Everything was seen through the mist of tear soaked eyes and thoughts of what could have possibly happened. 

So, for the rest of my life, I will remember this day as the day that Cade’s soul departed from our existence. And while he is lost to me, and the rest of us that remember him so dearly, and so fondly, he lives on in our hearts.

Firstly, just watch this video of the sun coming up over Columbia, SC. (Hypothetically) I took it from the roof of my building this morning. It’s better than one that I took the day before from inside some (disgusting) windows.

Now... on to the meat of the subject.

Hypothetically speaking, if you worked somewhere, where your opinion did not count for anything; where you had no say about processes, or procedures, despite your expertise on subject, would you continue to work in that situation?

Hypothetically, given the above situation, would you speak out about it?

I haven’t finished the show. I’m three episodes in, but I like what I have watched so far. 

I have always been a fan of the ‘what if’ genre. So far, from what I can tell, and I am not going to give any spoilers, this is a ‘what if.’ 

All I can tell you is this, it’s the 1960′s. The United States of America no longer exist. In it’s place is The Pacific States of Japan, and the Greater Nazi Reich. The Allies did not win World War II and this is what is left.
