Could a Wizard Tav be as powerful as Gale due to their own circumstances storywise? Like they had talent and trained exceptionally since childhood and maybe participated in the creation of a brand new variant of magic and were responsible for a breakthrough? I feel such story of Gale meeting an equal in power before the Tadpole could humble him yet also make him appreciate how power can be used for purposes other than showing off.
I love Gale, this is in now way shitting on him, but basically wanted to see if it was possible to create a story of a Wizard Tav who can be powerful to the point where they compete with Gale but as friends and could do it even before the Tadpole and earns his respect.

Bloodweave headcanons because I love them (can you tell Gale is my fav)
•Constantly CONSTANTLY trying to outdo eachother with fancy petnames. "My sweet", "dearest love", "one and only", "most darling boy", "precious heart"
•Also constantly bitching at eachother about anything and everything, it's affectionate bit the bickering NEVER stops ever
•Astarion will always win any arguments they ever have by kissing Gale, who will suddenly forget everything about why they were fighting
•Yapper x listenerrr, Astarion will listen to Gale talking- but only for so long before he sits himself in his lap to kiss him
•Gale loving Astarion softly and gently, and it taking him completely by surprise that someone could want him without wanting more

•Karlach calls Gale typical petnames like "love", "darling" and "sweetheart"
•Gale calls Karlach really sappy and specific ones like "my dear", "brightest star", "most darling love" and "my heart"
•Yapper x yapper... Kar will just stare at Gale with heart eyes while he goes on and on for ages (and vice versa)
•Karlach realised she had feelings when she caught herself watching Gale feed Scratch some scraps while he was cooking and realised she had the dopiest smile on her face
•Gale realised he had feelings when Kar's engine got fixed and she gave him THE biggest hug. He got absolutely crushed and was like "oh okay I love muscular women actually"
•Gale "that's my wife" Dekarios has gotten into SEVERAL arguments in bars "defending" Karlach from creeps (she could deal with them herself it's just cute to watch him)
•Karlach being very very VERY big on touch and therefore always just randomly flopping onto him while he's doing stuff
•Both of them just being so so enamoured
