I don't know what Julie had against Paul and Nina being a couple in the show. Katherine was done dirty too. At the end of season 2 and the beginning of season 3 she was a part of the mystic falls gang everyone trusted her especially in 3x09. But suddenly in season for she was that selfish bitch and Damon's arch nemesis? Have they watched the show they are writing? Why wouldn't Katherine again work with MFG to get the cure and shove in into Klaus throat and kill him they all still wanted to kill him. So why wasn't she naturally still a part of them? Why do her later so dirty and take her personality too and not end up with Stefan? Who was still the kindest and most respectful when he took his goodbye from her in the dream. And Julie making her fav Damon say "ew I'm gonna barf" when Katherine told she was with Stefan. The heck seriously.
I know. I just think they didnβt know what to do with her character at that point and just wanted to write her off, but the way they did it was so abrupt. In Season 3, they couldβve literally had her team up with Stefan or Mikael and take her revenge, or in Season 4 they couldβve made her form a pact with them and work together. But no, they were just doing anything with her.
Like I didnβt want her to end up with Stefan because, after everything she had done to him, the compulsion and forcing thing it never felt right to me. It was wrong. But they still couldβve handled her character better. Since she was human, even if they wanted to kill her off, they couldβve at least given her a good redemption arc that added closure to her character instead of that ridiculous body-jumping storyline.
Then they had Matt blame her for Vicki, and Iβm just like, where did that even come from? Katherine wasnβt even introduced at that point. It just felt like they were desperate to write her off with bad writing and complete character assassination. No matter what, she was never that obsessive or pathetic that she would resort to the cheap tricks they made her pull.
And Damon torturing her on her deathbed and killing her daughter right in front of her was so unnecessary. It was just needless suffering, and I felt so angry at Damon for all of that, while Stefan was so compassionate. Damon tortured her out of spite and misogyny because he was still angry over her rejection. She was supposed to have a closure that actually made sense and added meaning to the end of her story. Her character had so much potential, but they never wanted to use it for anything except unnecessary storylines because she was still a much better character and deserved a good storyline and ending more than anyone else.
