Are you guys aloud to wear shorts? I'm a Christian and I was interested in you religion and I know someone who's family is Mormon and she said they're pretty strict on what to wear and stuff.. And I asked missionaries but they avoided my question so?
Yes, we can wear shorts, but the Church does have guidelines on modesty and whatnot. We believe that our bodies are temples, and want to dress in a way that promotes wholesome interaction and mindsets. Skirts, dresses, and shorts should reach your knee area. So, yes, we can wear shorts, but mini shorts are off-limits. If you want to really read more into it than my short response, go check out the Church’s website and their official statements on modesty at https://www.lds.org/topics/modesty?lang=eng
After a long hiatus..
Beyond Rubies is back in action, and ready to start sharing again! I have been gone due to mental difficulties I’ve been dealing with, and would love to share what I’ve learned since. So grateful to my followers and friends, your support and messages have meant the world to me. <3
If you’ve ever asked, “Where can I turn for peace?”, try the temple. If there’s a reason you can’t go inside, go anyway, God will come outside and meet you.
Winnie the Pooh quotes make me cry.
“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”
“I used to believe in forever, but forever’s too good to be true”
“I don’t feel very much like Pooh today,“ said Pooh. “There there,” said Piglet. “I’ll bring you tea and honey until you do.”
“I wonder what Piglet is doing,” thought Pooh. “I wish I were there to be doing it, too.”
“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”
“We’ll be friends forever, won’t we, Pooh?” asked Piglet. “Even longer,” Pooh answered.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together… there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”
“Forever isn’t long at all, Christopher, as long as I’m with you.”
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Hey y'all. So, I've been gone for almost a month now... 😁 But I promise I have an explanation for why! So, during the first part of February, my in-laws took all of us kids on a week long vacation to the East Coast, which was super rad. Downside- for the month previous, I had been having some pain. I was told it was a cyst, and that it would go away if I just let it be. Well, about halfway on the trip, I got sicker than I've EVER been. We're talking the full nine yards- bad pain, crazy nausea, loss of appetite and energy, the whole works. Little did we know that I had a bladder infection...that turned into a kidney infection. So, when we finally landed in SLC, (worst flight ever due to super bad nausea mentioned earlier. The plane got delayed by an hour too- you can imagine how thrilled I was.), my mom met us at McKay-Dee ER. They gave me medicine, a shot that hurt, and said I'd be okay after the ten days on the antibiotics. WHICH I BELIEVED, and did quite well on, until two days ago when I noticed the symptoms returning. I made it to the Doc, although hurting bad again, and dealing with major loss of appetite and dehydration, and got my meds again. This time, though, the next day was awful. I lay on my couch with a fever that spiked 104.5, eventually going down to the 100.8 area. Today, for the first time in awhile, my life isn't crazy, and while I'm still definitely not feeling great, I'm not wanting to rip my kidneys out. So, I thought I'd post. Now, I didn't just post to moan and groan. I posted my experience to rely the spiritual growth I had during this ordeal. I had the opportunity to ask my husband for a priesthood blessing- the first he had ever given me. What a beautiful and joyous moment that was as I felt the power of the priesthood and God's love wash over me. Over that next week, and yesterday, I felt His love and comfort, and was able to get through it. The lesson I learned- even when we seem at our very worst, God treats us like the very best. His love never wavers, never falters, and is always there to lift us up when we're too tired to carry on. I'm so grateful for Him and His love for me as His daughter. This experience has showed how much I need to progress in maintaining and keeping a good relationship with Him. The best lessons come from the worst times.
A good marriage requires time. It requires effort. You have to work at it. You have to cultivate it. You have to forgive and forget. You have to be absolutely loyal one to another.

I live for his peanut-butter goodbye kisses and hugs when I'm not expecting them. ❤️
