Hey Nerdship! Wednesday is a crazy day for dinner at my house, so more often than not, it’s the night where we employ the services of the crockpot. Now, it’s just the two of us, but the way our schedules run, we’d be eating Taco Bell otherwise. Enter: French Dips. This is a simple recipe with a big wow-factor, and it scales nicely.

So our quest for the Perfect French Dip takes us out of the Tri-Cities for a change and takes us to Spokane WA.  We are at a restaurant called Herbal Essence Cafe:  http://www.herbalessencecafe.com/

This French Dip is $8.95 and comes with your choice of Caesar salad, fruit, pasta salad, or chips.

Lets start with the Pros:  The meat is really good and is really heaped on, the Au Ju has a full interesting flavor, and cheese is added for free. 

The Cons: The bread was so soft that the bottom was actually in pieces before it got to the table.  No fries offered so we went with the Caeser salad which was incredibly soggy.  The hours are 11-2 and then 5-close.  So when we showed up after showing up in town yesterday they were closed.

Over all it was a decent dip, but I know there has to be much better dips in town.  And had I known that the diner next door to it had been on Diners, Drive Ins & Dives, we probably had went there.

I'm giving Herbal Essence Cafe's Dip a 3.25 out of 5.
