Listening to Dr. Mick’s playthrough as I’m cleaning my condo and I’m constantly struck by how Imaginary Friend could have been a very good tutorial chapter for the chronological order, but it can’t be because it wasn’t set up that way. As a result, there is still some jumping around timeline-wise within the chronological order and you don’t get the story told the way that it should. And I totally get that they could probably only shift the chapters around in a certain way and not alter them entirely for the new remixed order, but I do think that it does take some of the understanding of what is happening within Jodie’s life out of this playthrough version because of it.

By comparison the mocap for DBH is outright stale and emotionless; and while, yes, okay, the playable characters androids, you can absolutely say the same thing about the human characters in that game too. There’s not a lot of personality in that game, but Beyond absolutely knocks that out of the park when it comes to developing characters outside of verbal and facial responses and why I think that it’s a better overall constructed game.

If she trusted them, she’d likely tell Nathan and co. how her senses with Aiden worked, but she doesn’t (and throughout the video, Dr. Mick indicates via her body language that she is clearly uncomfortable with the whole situation) and that’s why they need to do the test in the first place.
