Unfinished.

cut down too soon, questions unanswered, desires unfulfilled... what a tragedy you are.

Recycle clung to Al as the feline hastily stood up, bat in hand. The back of Al’s head bleeds sluggishly from the broken wall. Some robot, a mix between an eagle and a snake, screeched as it rolled its way in, pots and flowers crunching beneath its wheels. It eyed the two mobians before turning to Tempest, targeting her with a scream before charging. “Shit!” Al cursed, turning to Recycle. “Cy, stay put!” “Al-!” Recycle cried as Al pulled away from her younger grip, charging towards the bot. Unsurprisingly, Al’s feeble little bat did little to give a dent to the robot’s supiror steel but it was a good distraction, allowing Tempest an opening to attack- At the cost of Al taking a pretty nasty hit. The snake-bird’s claws slashed down, across Al’s face and down her chest, electing a scream of pain from Al as she fell backwards. “Al!” the younger girl screamed.

Too slow. Tempest tried to dodge, knife sliding to slice along the robot’s side- but she froze as Al attempted to hit the creature. It was like it was in slow motion. Al swinging, her own blade going down as she was forced to watch.... Hear the scream.

The entire day had been stressful.

Beyond.

But in that moment, Tempest snapped. Al had gotten hurt-- and the kid might be next. The back of the robot nearly slammed into her, but Tempest managed to dodge, hands sliding as the knife sizzled, white-hot metal burning into the cooler material. She hit the floor, a few flower pots cracking as they fell around her.

Flames flared to life, the plantlife nearby quickly withering from the heat. Tempest stood up as her skin started to change, color fading and flickering. Al had gotten hurt. Al had gotten injured for her sake-- and the kid... That smiling face echoed in her mind, for a moment overlayed with blood.

Red glittered at the edges of her vision.

“You.... Hurt....” The thing’s tail slammed into her. Tempest’s voice had taken on a dangerous tint. The brown in her eyes was slowly fading, as if it was being suppressed.

The knife fell from their hand. If they were hurt, they didn’t seem to care. Purple seeped into their skin.

They charged, an ungodly roar ripping from their throat.

One target.

One goal.

Recycle squealed and jumped up and down, clutching the signed paper to her chest.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Recycle cheered. “I’m going to frame this and keep it forever.”

Al smiled at Recycle’s excitement before turning to Tempest.

“Sorry, she can get excitable at times,” Al apologized for her charge’s behavior. “I’m working with her to get a healthy outlet for all that energy that doesn’t overwhelm people.”

The incoming explosions made Al flinch, the wisps of a vision starting to snake before her eyes and, boy, it wasn’t pretty.

Recycle looked up and towards the noise, as if she just noticed it. The small hedgehog frowned and stepped back, closer to Al.

The feline’s eyes dilated into slits, a hand coming up to firmly grip her bat’s handle.

“I have to agree with you on that but you might be right,” Al said hesitantly. “There’s a back door you can go through-”

Too late. The wall exploded, Al hurling herself over the counter and on top of Recycle. The young hedgehog screamed in terror, one hand clutching the signed paper, the other clinging to her sister figure.

Tempest found herself smiling, the little twitch in her mouth enough for her to momentarily think the day would go well from here on out. It was nice to make another grin and laugh and jump, instead of cautiously step back in mute terror. She was probably on TV a bit if this kid knew who she was by sight.... An idea that had worms wriggling in her brain.

“It’s alright.” She raised a hand. “I’ve dealt with far worse.” Sonic in his younger days... Was quite the sight. Tempest cast a glance to the kid. Aside from celebrities and apparently watching television... She wondered if the kid had any hobbies.

“Yes! Please, please, please!” Recycle bounced on the heels of her feet, her hands folded together in a plea. It was like honoring her request would solve all her life problems and cause her to ascend to the heavens. “You don’t have to if you don’t want,” Al said, relaxing. If Tempest said she was fine… Al hadn’t gotten any visions so it must be fine. Now, if she had immediately gotten a vision of Tempest passed out in the middle of an ally, she’d have dragged Tempest kicking and screaming to the break room. But she didn’t so she wouldn’t. “But if you want to, please do it!” Recycle begged, her long ponytails folding together like a second pair of hands. Hair shouldn’t do that but it was cute so maybe her moving hair could be forgiven. A small explosion rocked outside and Al sat up, frowning. “…That didn’t sound close but…” Al reached under her desk and plopped a steel metal bat on the counter. “Just in case.” Al was having a good day, those motherfuckers better not! “You fight robots a lot, don’t you?” Recycle asked Tempest. “That must be awesome!”

“--Alright, alright!” Despite her voice raising slightly, her tone never changed- that distinct lacking monotone covering every word, hiding whatever emotion might be underneath. She placed the paper down, reaching into a pocket and pulling out a pen. With a click, the tip came out, and she quietly scrawled her name on the page. It felt like a marring, really.- The best her signature was ever on were book translations, it was strange to have it on something so... Normal.

Was this what Sonic and his friends went through, all the time?

Maybe they felt odd about it, as she did.

“It’s not that I didn’t want to, I found myself... Moreso confused. My friends are often asked for autographs, not me.” Although she hardly ever went out in what could be considered ‘public’ these days.- Either cooped up at her home, battling Eggman, or off exploring some temple... There was rarely time to visit any public location at what could be considered ‘sane’ hours. She put away the pen when she heard the explosion, glancing towards the front door.

“... I don’t know that I would call it ‘awesome’, but thank you.” She nodded towards the other. Her eyes flicked towards the metal bat, own hand slowly reaching into her pocket, where her knife hid. “.... You and I both.”

Another explosion.

Closer.

Recycle stared up at Tempest, well, maybe stared? Tempest probably wouldn’t be able to tell due to the whole giant eyebrow thing.

“don’t worry about it, my treat,” Al said. “Lemme-”

“I’ll get it!” Recycle squealed, rushing to the back of the flower shop. Al watched her go, astounded.

“You must have shown up on TV once,” Al remarks, leaning forward on the counter. “She acts like that around her TV people.”

The feline looked over Tempest, frowning.

“Hey, you good?” Al asked. “We have a first aid kit somewhere around here for emergencies, I can grab it for you.”

“I’m back!” Recycle screamed, running up with a bottle of water and… a piece of paper. “Uh, do you think I could get your autograph?”

The small hedgehog (?) looked up eagerly and hopefully.

Tempest bit back a sigh at the words. She accepted the offer with no attempts to stop it. There was barely any money in her own world’s bank account right now, save a few rings from random sources every here-and-there.. Her head tilted a fraction as the other rushed off to the back of the flower shop, seemingly excited about something.

“I don’t know.” True. Tempest rarely watched a television- outside of cartoons that were her way of trying to figure out how ‘normal’ people interacted... Although thinking about it, she was hardly in a ‘normal’ group of friends... So that was a wasted effort. “TV people. Celebrities?”

... The cartoons were fun.

“I’ll use mine when I get back home, but thank you.” She raised her hands. Maybe she’d be able to win this argument. “Been getting targeted all morning by badniks, but I think they’re finally off my back.” An expression she was pretty sure she got right.

The human blinked. An.... Autograph?

Today was a good day. Al woke up and didn’t see a single possible catastrophe the whole morning routine and drive to work.

The sun was shining without a cloud in the sky, Ven had made french toast for breakfast, there was zero traffic, and it was Take Your Kid To Work day.

Now, Al didn’t have any kids but she did have a Recycle which she considered pretty close to the idea.

Al started on inventory while Recycle ran around the flower shop, changing her fur color to match whatever flower she was looking at.

The door’s bell rang and Al looked up, showing a rare smile as Tempest walked in.

“Heya, stranger,” she greeted, setting down her clipboard, Recycle turning to see who was there. “Good to see you. How are you?”

“Dunno.” She had been running all morning, dealing with badniks nonstop... She was lucky to merely look a bit worn down, as if she’d been actually running, alongside a few oil stains on her clothes... But finally, she’d defeated the last of those robots... And decided to stop by a familiar shop with familiar faces. “...bit run-down, I suppose.”

She stepped further into the shop, wishing for all the world there were somewhere to just lay down... But at least, at least, the threat had passed.

I have the prologue for Tempest's first event in my drafts. I have a generalized plan + outcome, but I don't have the energy, so it... Sits. And waits. For the day...

I've been fighting a few blog-reorganization urges for a while now, as well as the desire to make some new blogs... I was considering putting all my F/O SEGA muses (+Node) into a blog of their own since they get so much attention, as well as making a blog for The Librarians from a show of the same name (+S/I)... And of course, a blog for Nature and Develo- who would easily be two of my most powerful muses to-date (feel free to ask for details!).
