you realize the meaning of proship is literally just being anti harassment and anti censorship, right?
I get not wanting to be judged or harassed. and I get a lot of people don’t understand what proship means anymore and I get that a lot of them think liking horror or taboo things in fiction means being a murderer or a predator in real life or something. so, don’t be open about it if it scares you. you don’t have to force yourself to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
or be open about it and lose some followers who can’t separate fiction from reality and think it’s okay to harass others over fiction. be open about it and block/ignore anyone who shames or is rude to you about it. that’s what I do. at the end of the day I’m not here to please everybody, I’m not here to keep people happy, and the whole “maintaining one’s reputation and how many followers one gets” is extremely toxic in my opinion anyway. what reputation? this is tumblr dot com. followers? you mean literal strangers? social media is supposed to be for fun. you’re not your followers’ slave whose actions have to be approved by them just because they follow you. you’re here for your own enjoyment (I hope you are), and we’re not running for president here. so. fuck this fake reputation social media like tiktok made us believe was so important when it’s actually not real. people follow people. people unfollow people. people being toxic and getting rightfully blocked. that’s all there is. it’s so petty and shallow. if you asked me, I’d rather be unapologetically myself — even if it pissed off people who couldn’t mind their own business.
