Bewitching Alchemy

He will never be the man you dreamed him to be.

He will never appreciate the extraordinary woman you are.

Wish him well and know the time has come

for that beautiful story

seen so long ago in the stars.

Unforeseen words spewed forth

with a poisonous infusion of built up resentments.

 Words he was unwilling to absorb

as he spewed his own twisted venomous rant.

 This hopeful heart of mine

had woven his relentless deceit

into a beautiful tapestry

I merely used to cover my eyes.

 But I wake now with the courage

to face the ugly truth

than waste another moment

under the spell of a beautiful lie.

I have finally released him

amidst tears and candy-colored epiphanies.

He only yearned for my presence

when loneliness would engulf

the cold chambers of his ever changing heart.

I shall exhale each morning

knowing my loyalty and warmth no longer will he be privy to

as I bid him farewell on this journey alone,

and watch from a distance

It was under a blood red moon

where I first met his gaze. 

Gentle yet relentless

with his approach,

his candy striped words

leaving a sticky mess

upon the floors

of my awakening heart. 

I would take his smile

over any coruscating moon

to guide me through the fields

I watch the winter birds take flight

as his smile lingers

amidst the melancholy folds

of a perfect twilight.

I take the words he uttered

and place it

in my little box of longing,

hoping our paths will meld

I have finally let you go.

Not to keep you in my box of memories,

but free to dance above a perfect sky

and be part of a tapestry

that only the magic of the

His cowardice is of a degree I have never been privy to.

With the love of his life right under his nose, he chose to begin anew.

One day he will rise housing a dismembered spirit and destined to wander a desolate life.

There are instances when my skin

still feels your delicious caress

and the sound of your voice

lulls me into a beautiful space.  

Under a pallid moon,

I  remember how your eyes drank me in 

as the stars danced around your perfect face.

I will store these unforgettable moments

gingerly amidst the stills of our yesterday,

where every frame is saturated

He is a song from the east whose beautiful melody played louder and louder till I could no longer ignore it.

With eyes of Mediterranean blue, he uttered long forgotten sentiments comprised of truth, desire, and an unshakable bond.

How can one so vastly different become so quickly in tuned with this once dying spirit?

He doesn't dance, but he glides into those dusty chambers where hope once resided.

A journey burdened with angst, but I'm the motivation that beams like starlight above his bed at night.

Come hither where the wild winds dance between us and the scent of hydrangeas saturate my hair.

Twirl me around and sing me a sonnet about the one who got away and how I could so easily replace her.

I’m immersed in his bittersweet aftertaste as the light in his eyes questions the darkness in my heart.

There are so many things I yearn to say

but not the courage to say them.

I often wonder if memories of me fill your space

like your last words echo in mine.

We now sit here in our separate silence

distracting ourselves from the beautiful truth.

That no matter how far apart we are 

or how few words are uttered,

I wash away this stained nonsense 

as my yearning for a 

youthful enchantment

comes to fruition.

The truth is lit up by a milion stars

as his smile discovers 

I move to the rhythm of a forgotten time as the incongruity of the atmosphere melts into the sweet abyss of my longing.

There  are moments of clarity

amidst my dark imagination,

where the beauty of our meeting

is replaced by the ugly truth

of an inevitable demise.

My feelings become crystallized 

in a cocoon of our memories, 

as I allow the saturated winds of hope
