This day has finally come to me.Â
I was planning to set the date on my birthday but it came 1 month earlier (the incredible casts of the national holiday week was also one of the reasons). I didnât have any specific feelings when I was standing in the queue, I was quite calm. I believe some of you would understand, that with this frequency, the number is no longer important, it has already became a habit and is not easy to get rid of it. I donât know since when, my passion for this hotel itself is above any single character/performer, in multiple aspects.
Itâs been a crazy year. Back to 9 months ago, someone asked me âWill you watch this show for a hundred time?â, I replied âThat sounds crazy. But who knows. Maybe after 3 years.â At that time I thought watching a show for 30+ times a year was unbelievable, but look how far Iâve been now.Â
I was quite happy and felt so blessed when I saw the casts of my 100th visit. Thereâs my favorite Banquo for now, I havenât seen those beautiful Banquo solos for a while. Thereâs the best Boy and Sexy of Shanghai, and with Paulâs Macbeth, the Witches 1 and the Rave were stunning. And all the regular characters/performers I love, reminded me how much I was fascinated to them.
And of course something to remember of my 100th was, what Iâve been wishing for has happened. I was truly blessed. Thank you so much.
Though I said I was quiet calm before the show, but I did had a feeling of something ended up after I took my mask off and threw it into the basket. (I stopped collecting blank masks after #30.) I knew it definitely wasnât the end of my visits to the McKinnon, but it truly is a milestone and Iâm stepping into another period of, the way (or the motivation) I visit.Â
Reviewing my journeys in this year, the Mckinnon has left countless memories in my mind. Though thereâs some regrets, I still feel grateful for everything happened to me. I never thought I would pay that much for a show, but almost every night I spent in this place proved itâs worth my supporting.Â
Things started with an invitation from my colleague. He had a preview ticket and ask me to come watching. As itâs much cheaper and I had interests on every theatre works, I came. But my brain was blank. I didnât read any introduction, didnât know what itâs about, even have no idea of the story of Macbeth. And the worst was, I was wearing heels and a high neck sweater, thatâs why I failed to follow any character for a whole loop. Although I wasnât in a best condition, I still enjoyed the show, and was so excited. Iâve never had a theatre experience like that before, every single scene blowed my mind, and I couldnât stop thinking about it in the next few days. So I tried everything I can for 2 more tickets in December, and I kept looking for more informations on the internet. The more I researched, the more I want to go back. And you know what happened next, in the following months.
The McKinnon hotel somehow became a part of my life, though I donât want to admit. Iâve been going through many things this year, including resigned from my previous company, gave up my title of a Fashion Designer, got diploma of Patissier, changing my career life to another field and started to have a new journey of my life. I met many people in the McKinnon and some of them became life-long friends of me. Weâve spent countless nights together in and out of the McKinnon. We explore and share opinions for the shows along with its development. Weâve witnessed how this show developed, how the performers improved, how the plots became more and more logical, and how we find ourselves. Every moment was worth remembering. Iâm not sure how long will we keep watching, but our love to this place wonât change.
Thanks for everything and best wishes to the McKinnon.
