Itās something Iāve learned over the years. Sadly, sweets wonāt cure nerve pain, but Iād much rather be sad and cranky withĀ ice cream than without it. [She grins.] Just out of curiosity, which ward do you work in? You donāt have to say, but my brotherās a Healer, too, so I love meeting other folks from the hospital. I have so much respect for what you all do.
Exactly. Why add hangry to an already-miserable mood?
I work in artefact incidents, on the first floor. You would not believeĀ how many cauldron explosions weāve had in the last week. Honestly, if you donāt know how to make Bundimun Secretion, why would you attempt a Draught of the Living Dead? Thank you, though. Itās crazy work sometimes, but itās rewarding.Ā
Eh. Itās okay. I wouldnāt be allowed to publish it anyway. -grins- You at least seem to have a sense of humor.
I like that.
I check the comics out first every weekend in the Boston Globe. Garfield and I are old friends.Ā
The other day was International Womenās Day and instead of writing about any women that inspired me, I was told to write about the fact muggles are celebrating Pancake Day. Youād think that since Iāve worked at the Current for longer than a year Iād no longer be the bottom of the food chain but, here we are.
Bottom of the food chain...pancakes. [laughs] Iām sorry, Iām probably the exact opposite of the āinspired womanā you were dying to write about.Ā
As a real adult with a steady job, a fiancĆ©, and a houseānot to mention the daughter of a politicianāI feel like I should be above bribery, and yet here I am, shamelessly attempting to bribe my body out of a flare-up with cake and ice cream. Integrity is overrated.
As a registered Healer with the Magical Association of American Medical Practice, I can say, āHey, thatās not a terrible idea.ā A little bit of cake and ice cream is always conducive to a patientās overall well-being.Ā

Name āø GLORIA RAMOS
Age āø 24
Occupation āø HEALER
Alignment āø UNDECIDED
BIOGRAPHY:
Gloria Ramos always had something special about her. She was born to Fatima and Diego Ramos, a couple who had immigrated from Puerto Rico after eloping in their early 20s. Diego, educated in Puerto Rico, found employment at Massachusetts General Hospital as a nurse. Her mother taught kindergarten at the school in the familyās neighborhood, which young Gloria and her mother walked to every morning, hands clasped tightly together. Through these little trips every morning, she and her mother became very close as they still are. Gloria also enjoyed afternoons with her father, whoād take her to a nearby park.
Her mother always told Gloria that sometimes she would do things in a fit of emotion and not remember how they happened. But when young Gloria started being able to open her windows to the Boston morning breeze without lifting a finger, or removing the eggshell she had accidentally dropped into her motherās coquito with a twitch of an eyebrow, both she and her parents realized there was something different about her. And when, at age 11, a representative arrived from the Salem Institute telling her that she was in fact, a witch, Gloria was beyond excited.
On September 1st, her parents took her to North Station to take the Black Line to the Salem Institute. Her trolley was piled high with suitcases containing her new robes, books, and school equipment, all of which she had bought with the help of a Muggle-Wizard representative from the Salem Youth Center. Although at first nervous in her new and unfamiliar environment, bubbly Gloria quickly made friends, especially within her own House, House Dustin.
For the first few years in House Dustin, Gloria spent more of her time engaged in socializing and chasing after the cute older wizards that played on the Quidditch and Quadpot teams. However, during her fourth year, her father had a heart attack. He survived, but not without the extensive help of some very attentive and determined doctors. Gloria was moved by the incident, and suddenly had a purpose to work towards in school. She decided that post-Salem Institute, she wanted to become a Healer. Although it took some work to raise her grades, Gloria threw herself into her studies from then on. By her seventh year, she was able to achieve the cut needed to make it into Boston Wizarding Hospitalās medical program.
After six years of attending dual higher-learning courses and medical school at Boston Wizarding Hospital, Gloria is finally into her first year of residency as a Healer in the Hospital. A patient might look curiously at Gloria when they first see her. Her hair is always perfectly curled, her nails in an unchipped French manicure, and her lips are the color of whatever daring shade sheās trying today. But she knows her stuff, and with someoneās life in her hands, theyāre always her first priority. Gloria has big dreams for herself, and hopes to one day be the first female Hispanic Chief Healer at Boston Wizarding Hospital.
Sometimes though, Gloria wonders if sheāll have the chance. Gloria gets a copy of the Current like the rest of wizarding Boston, but sheās also recently found herself buying a copy almost daily of the Prophetess. Sheās watched most of Minister Rufus Darlingās political decisions during her life in the wizarding world with offhandedness, but recently sheās become aware of the criticisms heās been receivingā¦particularly in regards to his view and decisions regarding Muggleborns. Proud of her Muggleborn heritage, she finds herself feeling somewhat unsteadily towards his recent decisions and proposals. Ever optimistic, Gloria wants to believe in the best of things, but she canāt help feel a shift in the world sheās come to call home.
