The worst part of the Stranger Things finale is that Mike and Will don't end up together platonically. The whole party splits up and do their own thing and their paths don't really cross again. Lucas, Max, and Dustin are shown to still have fufilling lives where they chase their dreams and still maintain strong friendships and relationships. Mike and Will are BEST FRIENDS and have gone through so much together and end up with completely separate endings where they are both essentially alone (which was BOTH of their worst fears).

And I don't even wanna hear some bullshit like "well it's realistic!! Most people don't stay friends with the people they were friends with in high school!" because I'm literally 20 years old and I'm still friends with my best friends from high school and we call eachother and plan things regularly. I'm still friends with my friends from ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BRO and we still see eachother even though we all go to different colleges in different states. It's actually insane to me that they just go to college and thats it.

This bothered me SO MUCH too. Like the reason byler was so loved and hoped for was because they had such a deep, caring friendship. And then all of the sudden Will comes out, moves on, and now they’re barely even friends? Based on their relationship over the course of the show, that was actually very unrealistic for that to happen, especially after how close they were shown to be and how enthusiastic Mike was when Will got his powers

I have a controversial opinion where I think the only reason The Duffers dragged out Will's crush on Mike in season 5 and gave him "hope" when it made absolutely Zero sense for his character and writing, was to "teach" bylers a lesson but i just can't prove it

if CG isn't real i will forever be baffled by how something could go as downhill as ST like truly it's a downward spiral for the ages. impressively bad ending.

just imagine how embarrassing it would be to spend all that money and time making something and then have it suck so bad fans crash netflix waiting for something better because almost no one believes you could fuck up that much without it being on purpose. i would never show my face again i'd simply HAVE to go into hiding id be burning off my fingerprints in a gas station bathroom in boise, idaho by dusk. theres no recovering from that emotionally i dont think.

i just keep thinking about it. it's like i was sad about byler for a bit but honestly el's ending aand the general lack of substance in any of the writing is what really shocked me because i thought regardless of whether byler became canon there would at least be plot that would make it kind of worth it i just did not anticipate such a nothing experience.

everyone compares it to marvel movies but at least marvel movies make people giggle or whatever? they aren't my thing personally but from my best understanding they do still manage to have SOME sutbstance and they did kill off some fan favs. stranger things was a failure in every metric it could have been a failure in. it was so bad it retroactively took the things people liked about it before and had them be mocked widespread. this is a catastrophe level failure if it isn't intentional. i don't think there's enough money in the world that could smooth over the emotional wreckage i would be in if i created something and it received THAT level of scrutiny and disappointment.

Reminded that when Kali's illusion failed in Shock Jock, she said she was too far away to maintain it.

So, how could she create an illusion of El at the portal like Mike claims? That's' on top of her somehow knowing when and where to cast the illusion in the first place.

Not that her somehow sneaking to the gate with the military everywhere and the kryptonite active is any better. Like Mike said, she shouldn't have been able to use her powers to pull him into the void.

You know, I might be able to just walk away from this show if either the ending we saw or the ending Mike proposed made any sense.

lets be so fr, that "take off your belt" line was only removed bc the second they tested it out and heard it through Finn's mouth with Mike's inflection to Will, everyone collectively realized that the scene would more vulgar than the stancy sex scene of season 1
