Salamancas: This business needs to run smoothly! We work so hard to be where we are! All the blood, sweat and tears of the Salamancas will not be in vain—
Ignacio Varga:
Seeing Jesse on the other side of manipulation here was sooo interesting.
Everyone saying the Superman movie's too "woke" is genuinely ridiculous, and says a lot about where their values and morals actually lie. The fact that they saw a SUPERHERO saving the world from someone who was trying to corrupt it and see it as woke tells me everything I need to know.
Not to mention the whole "immigrant" argument... I've had so many people tell me they think it's ridiculous that they "made Superman an immigrant." HE'S LITERALLY ALWAYS BEEN. He is from another planet, in a fictional story where that's possible, which quite literally makes him an immigrant. Not that it matters anyways, like having an immigrant character in a movie is apparently the worst and most "woke" thing you could do..?
I think everyone's forgotten that superhero stories are moral stories, stories of people in a position of power (literally) who choose to do good and save people. Superman literally saved a SQUIRREL... that's what a good person he is. If you can watch a movie like this and still find some hyper-negative, hateful sentiment about it... says a lot about you.
If you see a literal supervillain and it reminds you of your leader... maybe that's a wake up call...
On a happier note though, the movie was SOOO FLIPPIN good!!! I recommend it to EVERYONE!!!
There is a point in this scene, when Gus stops smiling, where he realizes that he hasn't thought about Max at all.
All his life has been dedicated to get his revenge on Hector and the cartel and to mourn Max. Gus is implied to go often to the memorial and we see how he looks at it. He keeps a picture of him and Max in his house, he almost poison himself to death to avenge Max.
But in that moment, with David, he just forgot. This connects with Stacey's speech about Matty: "when I was making french toast why didn't I remember it's his favorite? I think about Matty every single time I make breakfast but not today. And they weren't just minutes, they were hours. If I can go hours, then why not a whole day? A whole week? And what if I loose the sound of his voice? What if I forget him completely?"
So in my interpretation it's not really that Gus thinks about his job and connections and locks in, but it's more that he feels disgusting for moving on just like that. He thinks he can never love again (I mean with all his hate and anger he definitely can't) and so he deprives himself of love all together.

Why do people hate Skyler?!
I've never understood it. Skyler has the most realistic reaction and even tries to cooperate with Walter to keep the peace, but everyone acts like she's some annoying Karen who caused all of the negative events in Breaking Bad, when they were actually consequences of Walter's own actions. From the beginning of the series, his actions were all on him, and Skyler didn't even intervene with any of this. She was trying her hardest to keep Walt's double life a secret and keep the family functioning, yet her entirely realistic breakdowns are apparently what make her the worst character in the entire show.
Sure, she had some cringy scenes like the happy brithday scene, but she is FAR from the most annoying character in the entire show like everybody claims she is.
I believe anyone who says Skyler is the worst or most annoying character in the series, or tries to claim that she ruined Walt's career and caused all of the negative events in the show watched the entire show with an immature lense, and refuse to think any deeper about the show. If you thought for even a moment about the show objectively, you'd realize Walt was in the wrong from day one. I do think, however, that this is an indicator of how amazingly written this show is when a large portion of the audience can't remove themselves from the perspective of the main character and view it more objectively. I believe Breaking Bad does an amazing job at twisting the viewers' moral compass to sympathize with the true villains and dislike those who get in their way. However, it's still beyond me how some people are unable to detach themselves from this perspective and think critically about the series. No, Breaking Bad was not supposed to be a show where Walt and Jesse continue cooking meth with zero consequences, it's supposed to be a commentary on toxic masculinity, greed, narcissism, and how removed Walt feels from any consequence once diagnosed with cancer. I've had people genuinely tell me that they think Breaking Bad's a horrible show because it didn't "go the way they wanted it to" and "Skyler kept getting in the way." This immediately tells me how immature and stupid you are if you misinterpret Gilligan's intentions THIS horribly. Not to mention, (in my experience at least) it's only ever misogynists who hate Skyler and the show this much, probably because they got excited thinking the show was going to be some awesome action series where Walt keeps manipulating everyone and cooking meth with zero repercussions, then get disappointed when things go more realistically.
Anyways, rant over! (For now)
Happy birthday Michael Mando!!!!!!
