peterrhee:
“I like talkative women.” He cut in, more in a ‘I was thinking out loud’ kind of way, than in an ass-kissing kind of way. “I think you’d like talking to my dad, then. Good ol’South Korean old man, has lots of stories to tell.” Hopefully she wouldn’t take this the wrong way. Peter knew how the mention of parents to a random person that he was actually flirting with, without the actual intention to flirt, would sound bad, but at least he was being honest. If she liked reading about different cultures and countries, his father might actually be interesting to talk to. “And, well, if you like all of these things, these books might be interesting to you. You know, Anthropology being what it is. I don’t know. It might interest you. But I’ll let you know what I think of them as soon as I return them. Hopefully it’ll be your shift, because the last times I’ve been here, it was another girl checking out the books.” Peter didn’t know when to stop talking, too… and maybe that was one of his flaws, or maybe that was the reason why he liked talkative people, too. Because he wouldn’t feel so alone, just talking and talking and talking. “It’s definitely not a flaw. I mean, you’re kind of like me, so how could it be a flaw? As for the name, it’s not a big deal. People get my name wrong all the time. I’m used to it. Besides, I’m in a good mood, so I won’t hold it against you, promise.”
“Yeah, I’m working with the MTV studios here. I mean, it’s not what I love doing, but it brings home the bacon. It allows me to work on my own projects, so I can’t really complain. If I have to write about teenagers messing around with supernatural things, I totally will.” He laughed softly, even though they were still in a library and people would probably reprimand them soon. See, this is why he needed to take this girl out for a drink or maybe dinner and a movie. No strings attached, no weight of it being a date or anything of sorts. Just two people chatting about their interests. It didn’t sound as serious as most people would claim it to be, right? He lit up at the mention of her being free on Friday and even though he did a horrible job at hiding it, Peter still tried. He tried not to look like a teenager who had just received a ‘hi’ from the prettiest girl in school. “Friday. Okay. Friday is perfect.” He took his card back, a childish smile toying on his lips, and nodded, when she told him not to use any pick up lines. “Oh, no worries. I wasn’t thinking about using them either. I suck at pick up lines. I mean, look at me… I’m as dorkish as I can get, right?” Peter laughed softly as he put the books into his backpack and looked back up at the brunette.
“Don’t get be wrong, but I can’t wait for Friday to come. I’ll call you, okay? Um… And please pick the place where we’re going? New in town, remember?” He pointed his thumbs to himself, before adjusting his backpack on his shoulder. “I’ll talk to you soon, Bethany.”
If you’re talking about the blue dress you bought while you were visiting us, then I think you’ll give that man a heartattack. Bethany laughed while listening to Mira on her phone through speaker, since she needed to get herself ready for drinks with the man she had met at the library. “Mom, it’s casual. We’re going out for drinks, it’s always casual and you know that,” her reply came a few seconds after she heard her mother through the phone. It had to be casual, since she hadn’t been able to open up to anyone else, trapped in the traps she created to herself, haunted by her mind and using sex as the only escape of her own fears. Bethany knew that she was going through all of that the wrong way, but so far, she didn’t find a way out of that nor she would share with those who cared about her, that she needed help. And while she could have fun, what was the harm in acting like that? “I need to get ready, I’ll finish my make-up take a picture and send it to you, okay?” Receiveing an okay in return, she heard the call ending, and the horrible silence reaching her room, which forced Beth to put some song to play while she finished applying the eyeshadow and her lipstick, finally reaching for her heels before she was out of her apartment.
Checking herself one more time inside of the cab before she entered the establishment, Beth finally made her way out, paying the driver before she’d move from the quiet night that the city offered to the vivid scenario that occured inside of the bar. It took her awhile to finally find him in the crowd, glad that he had arrived first, which excluded from her list the chance of getting anxious while waiting for him. “Hey, am I late? I don’t know if I’m late because my phone decided to die while I was on my way here, which shows that I’m not really lucky, but hopefully it will change through the course of the night. It’s a good thing my memory is not so bad, or else I don’t know if I’d be able to get here.” Offering a smile to Peter, she found herself a place to sit during her brief speech, sharing information that she wasn’t certain if he asked for, but they were still out there. “Did you order something to drink already? I should share that I’m starving, so we could get some fries. And I don’t know what kind of drink would be good with fries, I’m aiming for something sweet.” Debating inside of her mind for a moment, maybe if she was still hungry later, she could even head for something else to eat. But so far, she was already happy that her stomach was craving for food, at least she wouldn’t get drunk too easily and embarrass herself in front of Peter. She didn’t know what would be the outcome of that night, though she usually attempted to have sex with those she met and ignore them the next day, her main focus was to have fun, enjoy her night, get a few drinks and hope that he was as much of a good company as he appeared to be at the library. “Sex on the beach, perfect. We can order and now you can share fun facts about yourself. We can even go through the five important things to know about someone else. Favorite color, drink, food, movie and music.”
