I’ve read some of your Mario fanfics a few years ago. Really good stuff! Anyhoo.

SUBJECT_13_SORCERESS (Cackletta)

Cackletta, on her own, serves as one of the games more smarter participants, taking a bit of a more antagonistic role in the trials. Not necessarily the MAIN antagonist, as Dimentio is the one who fits that role, but she’s definitely right behind him. If Dimentio dies at any point, she would be the one to take his spot. She is one of many characters who’s outright willing to kill to escape, but she obviously has her own tricks to help out with trials in the event that she isn’t the blackened. She obviously doesn’t wanna die. You could also make the case for her “waiting out” the Killing Game for survival, so that escaping with more than one person is possible. Regardless on whether or not she takes someone’s life, she’d definitely be willing to make an attempt to escape, at the very least.

I intend for her and Fawful to be a package deal, partly on Fawful insisting to stay by her side. He hasn’t seen her since her death in Superstar Saga, so the reunion is certainly a little interesting. On Cackletta’s end, Fawful is still the same person she remembers. Kind of. She can tell that something has happened with him after her defeat with the Mario Bros., but it’s not like Fawful is willing to admit to anything, preferring to keep things the way it used to be, so she doesn’t pry. From her perspective, that final boss fight with the Bros. happened very recently, but she can tell it’s been a lot longer than that. I’ve seen some takes with Cackletta as a mother figure to Fawful, so I wonder how their relationship would go with that kind of context. Honestly, it’s a little more heartbreaking if I decide to go that route, haha.

I like the idea of both of them laughing their asses off at the other characters struggling to find the blackened early into the game, I put their seats right next to each other in the Trial Room for a reason LMAO

SUBJECT_15_CONQUERER (Princess Shroob)

Remember when I said Cackletta is one of the many people 100% willing to kill to escape? Princess Shroob is the walking embodiment of that idea. She has no (positive) ties to anyone she’s stuck with, has an entire army waiting for her, and said army intends to spread and colonize, which says a lot about her as a leader. To her, everyone else in the killing game are all potential threats and targets to getting back to her colony. She doesn’t intend to allow someone to murder her. She is either going to make a kill, or make sure someone else isn’t successful with their own. There’s also taking into account the massive language barrier, which doesn’t help with her purposely isolating herself from the group. Not that she’s going out of her way to avoid things like important meetings, of course. If you’re trying to pinpoint a target for murder, it’s best to try and study them, right? As much as you can, anyway. Again, huge language barrier.

Princess Shroob also has ties to the outside world of the killing game, as one of the masterminds behind it..is a Shroob! I can’t imagine she would take it lightly if one of her own soldiers kidnapped her and forced her to play a death game with a bunch of strangers. They’ve definitely got a lasting injury from her, for sure.

I don’t mind talking about Masterminds when it comes to this AU, as their motives and feelings towards this game are meant to be pretty clear from the start. The participants just don’t know who they are for a looong time.

It kinda sucks that at least one of them is never gonna get to this part again, haha. I like to think they get to do a demo trial like Eden’s Garden and the victim is "Mario". Lmao

I think it’s a little funny to consider the cast’s reaction to Bowser Jr. because I’m like so sure more than half of them have no clue who he is, but they know his dad very well.

would anybody be interested in a Mario + Danganronpa killing game but the cast is (with one exception lmao) exclusively Mario villains? (Not necessarily big name ones (bowser isn’t on here for example), but also aren’t super niche? I mean. Depends on how well you know the RPGs, haha

I know people are concerned about NormalNPC and their degrading dialogue but what if they suddenly just started speaking normally

Iggy is…surprisingly good for a Gaster equivalent?? I have no clue HOW, but they have a fair bit in common.

Both have green as their main color (if you’re a Greenster truther).

If you use the SMB3 age order,

(Larry, Morton, Wendy, Iggy, Roy, Lemmy, Ludwig)

this would make Iggy the middle child, quite literally green and in between.

Iggy is often associated with inventions and science, you know who else is? Gaster. With the Core in UNDERTALE and him being the former-Royal Scientist. (Which. Y’know. Iggy works for KING Bowser???)

I think it’s a cool idea. Especially if you consider the impact it would have on the rest of the Koopalings, even if they don’t remember his existence. My takes on them anyway, haha
