🎵 - we are by hiroshi kitadani (one piece opening #1)
the wind blows through sana’s hair where she stands on the upper deck of the windy day. she shields her eyes with one hand, squinting at the clouds to the east and thinking about the weather so far today.
“hm...if i’m right, then there should be a gust of wind coming up from the south soon...” she mutters to herself, impatiently tying her hair back after it flies in her face for the third time in a row.
as she finishes, the predicted wind sails up from her right, behind the ship. it catches the sails, and windy soars over the waves.
on the lower deck, joomi is jostled awake from his nap as the ship jerks into motion. “what’d you do, sana!” he calls up to her, his tone annoyed, though sana can see the upward tilt of his mouth even from here, so she sticks her tongue out and holds up a peace sign.
“nothing, besides being the best navigator ever!”
joomi just laughs, and sana looks up, her face lighting up when she spots something in the distance.
an island.
“island up ahead! if the wind holds, we’ll reach it by dinner time!” she calls to joomi and the rest of the crew, to a chorus of cheers from around the ship. sana basks in it, in the amazing day, the accomplishment of accurately predicting the weather for the whole trip, and, yes, the attention everyone gives her as they praise her skill.
she’s here to have fun, but it’s always nice to be praised, too.

june has always been sana’s favorite month. for a long time it was just because of her birthday being right in the middle of it, and of course she still loves that. but this year, after going to her first pride with sarang and finally beginning to accept that maybe she is different and that’s okay, she can’t help but have a different kind of fondness for the month.
the shopping event in hongdae doesn’t hurt, either. she’s found several amazing new outfits over the last few days thanks to those sales. she’s back again this weekend, standing under a bus stop that’s currently serving as her and ria’s meetup point.
it’s been a while since she’s seen ria, and sana can’t help but be excited. ria is cute — she often ends up flustered for what seem to sana like random things, but it always makes sana smile. it’s fun to try to get that tinge of pink to rise to the girl’s cheeks, to poke for a reaction.
a bus pulls up, and sana stands out of the way, watching several passengers get off before recognizing her friend. “ria!” she calls, waving enthusiastically without a care for the other people around her. “it’s so good to see you!” she continues as her friend approaches. sana throws her arms around ria’s shoulders in an eager hug, the same way she greets all of her friends after a while apart.
ria isn’t exactly sure when she found out she liked girls, but she’s very aware of it. she’s kissed girls, yet there’s never been any romantic feelings when it comes to girls. girls are obviously prettier and nicer than boys, so it wonders ria how she’s never dated a girl before, nor even crushed on one before. she’s still a bit in denial about it, like she always is when she gets a new crush, but sana might be ria’s first ever crush on a girl. ria wouldn’t admit it out loud, but it’s a bit obvious, how she blushes when their hands just slightly touch, how she cares so much about what sana thinks, and how giving a good gift to sana seems like the most important thing in the world.
she steps out of the bus, looks around for her crush friend, and a smile shows up when she sees the other. a slight rosy colour shows up on her cheeks as sana hugs her, and she tries her best to hug back though she’s carrying a big bag. “i uh” gulp “i brought along some birthday gifts for you” she shows a smile (an awkward one though). she swings her bag over so she can reach into it, pulling up the first thing. “it’s, it’s a bracelet, i made it myself”, “and uh, some chocolate, i also made myself” she gives the other girl it. “and at last” and she pulls up a plushie shaped like a cat “you like cats if i remember right” she shows a smile, her heart beating fast as she waits for the other’s reaction. “i can carry it all while we shop if you’d like me to”.
true to expectation, sana's hug makes ria blush a pretty pink -- almost perfectly matching sana's shirt, actually. that's really cute.
she beams when ria mentions her birthday, and her jaw drops with each present ria removes from her bag. "oh my goodness," sana says, feeling...something rising within her ribcage, some unidentified feeling she's not sure she's ever felt before. "all this for me? you really didn't have to," she says, reaching to gently touch the bracelet, then the cat plush. so much thought put into all three gifts, and the fact that there's three in the first place.
sana doesn't think she's ever seen such clear evidence of somebody outside her family caring about her this much. it's honestly a little overwhelming, and she feels that unidentified emotion surging through her chest, rising into her throat, threatening to come out her eyes. she swallows it back, but she can still feel her eyes go misty as she looks up at her friend. "thank you so much," she says, wishing there was a way to reinforce just how much she means it. "you put so much thought into these gifts, i...i really appreciate it. and i love them! i do love cats, and i love sweets, and this bracelet is so adorable!"
she takes it from her gingerly, running her fingers over it before finally holding her wrist out to ria. "help me put it on?"
bada's eyes light up the tiniest bit watching the other girl twirl around. she resists the urge to clap for her, thinking that it'd be too weird in public. perhaps if she wasn't a stranger, or perhaps if they weren't surrounded by nearly a hundred people. still, the model smiles and the other goes over the details, nodding when she tells her where she got each piece from.
the girl has a sense of style that reads unique; an outfit that was put together with care. truthfully, bada has wanted to branch out and try different things herself but finds herself lacking the time and energy to try something fun out. her outfits consist of classic styles and colors, despite modeling for and being gifted some clothing that can fall under the category of out of the box.
"honestly, i don't know why all skirts don't have pockets," she lets out a soft sigh. "it's so much more practical, don't you think?" bada asks the other, already knowing the answer. any girl would tell you a skirt with pockets is ten times better than one without.
suddenly, bada is self conscious about her own outfit. black linen pants paired with the most boring white t shirt. really, what was she thinking? "thanks for sharing! i might just have to steal your look one day," she chuckles nervously, looking down at her chunky black sandals. she raises her head back up after a moment, looking at the other girl with a smile, waiting for her to say something so her thoughts can stop racing.
sana examines the other girl while she speaks. she's really pretty -- like magazine-cover pretty, or idol pretty. sana knows she isn't ugly; she puts too much effort into her appearance for that, but she also knows she's not drop-dead gorgeous without putting in a bit of effort in the makeup department. this girl is, and sana feels a flame of pride burst into life in her chest over the fact that this girl thinks her outfit is cute.
"go for it! it'd be really cute on you," sana encourages her. "but i'm actually a little jealous of your outfit, you know," she adds, looking up and down the girl's clothes again. "i've never been able to make monochrome work, but i've been trying for years," she heaves a sigh at the confession, pouting slightly. "but it looks really cute on you!" she adds, perking up so she doesn't give the pretty girl the wrong idea.
the line moves then, and sana glances over her shoulder at it before turning to shuffle forward, though she stays next to the other girl so they can keep talking. "maybe we can help each other out, here! we could each pick out some clothes, then switch styles in the dressing room. wouldn't that be fun?"
"pardon me! would you mind answering a few questions for nemo's dream?"
the voice stops sana in her tracks, her head turning left to look at the speaker, her eyes darting unsubtly around to confirm he's really talking to her. she tilts her head, taking just a moment to decide what to do.
she doesn't recognize the name beyond a vague familiarity, like someone she follows online is a fan of it, maybe. she may have been seeing the name plastered around here, too -- they must be sponsored by the event or something? who knows.
whatever. it's not like she's heard anything bad or weird about the show, and it could be fun. besides, the guy's got himself a nice shady spot here; it's nice to get a respite from the sun.
"sure!" she chirps as she steps over, a jaunt in her step and her hair swinging with the motion. "i'm izumi sana. if you could include my socials in the video, that'd be great!"
"of course!" the boy's energy, at least, is a mirror to sana's own. she's met a few people who gave her similar vibes, and now she either hates them or considers them a best friend, no in-between. so many things are that way with sana, it seems.
she supposes it's natural that his personality seems so similar to hers; after all, that kind of thing is something that's necessary to someone who, more than anything else, wants to be liked.
oops. she hasn't been listening to him talk at all. how long has he been waiting for her to answer? shit.
she tries to laugh it off, blinking a few times and raising a hand to rub the back of her head sheepishly. "i'm sorry, it's been a long day," she says, though it's mostly a lie. "i totally zoned out. could you repeat the question?"
"totally fine," the boy chuckles, waving a hand dismissively. sana fights the urge to scowl -- she would have done the exact same thing if their places were swapped, but she'd be thinking something entirely different. what is he thinking? it's tough to tell. "the sun is really harsh today, so it's good you're in the shade for a bit! the question was, what do you consider 'dating'?"
whoa, really weird topic choice there. sana has to fight to keep the shock off her face; he probably explained all this while she was zoned out, wasn't she? she paints a pensive expression on, but all of a sudden she just wants to get out of here, to find one of her friends that are surely taking advantage of the sales around here and bother them for a while, rather than discuss what feels suddenly strangely personal with a total stranger.
"hm...i guess it depends on the people involved," she says, going for a thoughtful tone and landing reasonably close to it -- close enough for a stranger, at least. "you need to think about and discuss what both of you want, then decide what to do from there together. it's all about communication!" she adds, a bit more pep coming back into her voice, though she can't even tell how genuine it is.
the boy doesn't waste any time, barely even noting her answer before he's moving on. jeez, how many times has he had this exact same conversation all day? no wonder he reminds her so much of herself.
"very interesting answer!" the boy announces, steamrolling once again over sana's introspection. she blinks past it, trying to force herself to focus. the quicker she answers his questions, the better it'll be for the both of them. "next question: do you think it's possible to have physical affection before you date someone?"
this one, at least, is easy. "of course it is! i'm physically affectionate with my friends all the time!" the cheer in her voice this time, at least, is at least partially genuine. "but i think it's important to consider what other people think, too. like, to me, physical affection like hugs or holding hands doesn't have to mean we're dating. it's just another way of telling each other we care about each other. but for other people, it might be different. it all comes back to communication, you know? you have to tell others how you feel, or they'll never know."
the boy nods eagerly, seemingly satisfied with her much more eloquent answer. shocked at herself, sana just blinks, unsure where exactly those words came from. the boy scrawls her information onto his clipboard, then bows politely to her.
relieved to finally be done with the sudden, weirdly draining conversation, sana bows back and hurries off, towards the bus stop where she promised to meet ria.

jueun can't help but chuckle at the position sana is in at the couch, but she quickly puts down the snacks to help her roommate pick out a movie. "i'm always up for a good disney movie!" she exclaimed before looking through the list of movies popping up on the screen.
"emperor's new groove is fine with me! or what about inside out? the second one is coming out soon, so maybe it'll be a good idea to refresh our minds by rewatching the first one." the movie at hand didn't matter too much to jueun tonight. she was just pretty happy to be able to put her mind on something else for the first time in a while.
next gen was both physically and mentally exhausting, and now that she's signed a trainee contract, jueun was aware that her life would only become even more hectic. thus, this was like one of her last final nights where she could truly relax and let everything down.
sana watches jueun set the snacks down even as she's already reaching for the popcorn. she grabs a loose fistful, pulling it back with her and picking up the remote with her other hand. she scrolls towards the pixar section, absently raising her hand to her mouth to grab a piece of popcorn with her teeth.
she would never eat like this in public, but she's never been shy to be herself in her own home -- surely jueun understands that by now.
"inside out always makes me cry, though," she says, slightly muffled around the popcorn as she looks through the pixar section. movies about kids relocating are always a kind of cathartic for her, but she doesn't think she wants that kind of emotion tonight.
"oooh, what about luca? i watched it when it came out and remember really liking it, but i've only seen it that one time," she announces, sitting up straight in excitement as she hovers on the selection.
one of yuji's favorite places to be is a cat cafe. always unable to have one, she gravitates towards them naturally; why go to a normal cafe when she could go to one and enjoy the company of some sweet little kitties?
watching a small white cat peer at them from their perch on the window shelf, yuji gives a little sigh. "how cute," she murmurs towards sana, a small smile crossing on her face. watches the cat wiggle their paw at them, curling further up. yuji wants to coo. how can anyone not want to spend all their time with a cat?
returning her attention to sana, yuji reaches for her drink, bringing it towards her so she can swirl her straw around in it. "i love it here," she hums, taking a sip of her lemonade. glancing around them, her eyes drifting from cat to cat around the room. "i've been wanting to adopt one, but i'm afraid that's going to be a slippery slope."
sana's always been more of a cat person. dogs are great, and adorable, but they just have so much energy; she wouldn't be able to live with one. she'd never be able to give it enough exercise. cats, though, largely entertain themselves, and are happy to get the zoomies a couple times a day to work off their little bit of excess energy. or at least, that's been her experience with cowboy.
she sips on her drink, some kind of iced fruity tea. it's sweet as it sits on her tongue, refreshing on a hot afternoon. she follows yuji's gaze at the wistful sigh and comment, smiling as she watches the pretty white cat curl up in the spot of sun on the windowsill.
"adorable," she agrees, looking over at her friend. a gray tabby, barely out of the kitten stage, hops onto the sofa between them, and sana gasps aloud, holding out a hand for the kitty to sniff. they give it a cursory tap with a wet nose before immediately pressing their head against it in a demand for pets, and sana happily obliges, scratching as the cat turns their head to get her hand where they want it.
"you've just gotta get the right one," she says, voice slightly hushed to try not to scare away the little angel who's already purring under her fingers. "i thought i'd want more after cowboy, and i'd love another one, but i'm afraid he'd never forgive me," she chuckles a bit, taking another sip of her drink and watching the tabby's eyes follow the motion, the ice rattling quietly in the plastic cup.
june has always been sana’s favorite month. for a long time it was just because of her birthday being right in the middle of it, and of course she still loves that. but this year, after going to her first pride with sarang and finally beginning to accept that maybe she is different and that’s okay, she can’t help but have a different kind of fondness for the month.

though bada wouldn't say she's a shopaholic, she's one of those people that can never turn down a good deal. impulse purchases are the bane of her existence. the model always finds a way to justify it, though, even if the reason might not be totally sound.
she finds herself standing in a sizable line for one of the department stores in seoul. bada's not sure exactly what's going on, not sure why every store on the block is having a half off sale at the same time, but she knows that she at least needs to check it out. her eyes wander from the street to the people in line, stopping on the girl in front of her.
more importantly, on the girl's outfit.
"excuse me," she taps the other on the shoulder gently, trying to get her attention. "sorry to bother you, but i just adore your outfit," bada's eyes trail over the girl's clothes as she smiles.
sana loves shopping. she loves seeing all the different styles of clothes and trying to decide how she’d wear them. she loves to giggle at the things that are just plain bad, the atrocious patterns or weird cuts that sometimes show up in department stores.
she’s spent a long time cultivating her own sense of style, and it’s important to her to always feel good in what she’s wearing — even if it’s just athleisure. she probably has too many clothes, in all honesty, and her closet is starting to strain from being overstuffed, but she can’t bring herself to purge anything. everything’s just so cute, and she’s made a lot of good memories in those clothes! she knows she should donate some things, but it’s just so hard to let go.
and yet, despite her tiny closet already being full to bursting, here she is in hongdae, taking advantage of their summer sales. she toys with a strand of hair as she waits in line, considering what to do. she’s distracted by a tap on her shoulder, and she turns around to the girl behind her.
at the girl’s comment, sana looks down at her outfit. she is pretty proud of it — a loose white graphic tee tucked into a pink tennis skirt, with her favorite thigh highs — patterned to look like cat ears at the top — rising from her black converse. she’s got a small backpack as well, one of the several licensed ones lining her shelves at home.
“thank you!” she says eagerly, automatically twirling a bit to make the skirt flare around her. “i actually found this skirt at a thrift store and built the outfit around it,” she explains. “it was only like 6000 won, and look!” she stuffs her hands in the pockets and wiggles them excitedly. “it has pockets!”
although sarang should be catching up on rest, he's standing in front of the full-length mirror in his bedroom; checking out the outfit that he has on. he twirls around one way, then the other, catching himself at all angles as he tries to decide if it's right or not. it's not often that he gets to really doll himself up for an outing, and as he and sana will be making their way to the queer culture festival, he figures tonight is the perfect opportunity to look extra good. sure, he's not exactly on the prowl anymore, but that doesn't mean that longing glances from hot men don't make him feel absolutely scrumptious. besides, being a tease in that manner is something that reinvigorates him, especially when he's feeling blue. it's sad, but it's true.
glancing over at his pal, he offers her a quizzical look. "crop top or no crop top?" he asks, gazing down at his abdomen. "it's cute, right? i'm just not sure if they work with the jeans." it's a rather classic combo—higher waisted trousers paired with a sleeveless crop top; exposing just the right amount of midriff, accentuating his s-line curvature, and the fact that both pieces are black only highlight his shape even more.
"should i add a denim jacket?"
giving it some thought, he beelines to foot of his bed and sits beside sana; nudging her slightly with his elbow. "are you excited? you look super gorgeous, by-the-way. i'm so jealous that you can wear a full face. i know why i have to wear a cap and a mask to things like this, but it's still lame." his whining is playful, and he hopes that he's not dampening the mood. "it's a little sad that we couldn't, like, start the day there, but trust me—the after parties are a blast. this is your first pride, right?"
people are gay. sana knows this, obviously. and even though when she was younger she and her family struggled to accept that fact, she’s much more accepting of those feelings now. a surprising amount of her friends have come out to her over the years, and actually knowing people in the community helped her to actually see it as a community. she’s happy for her friends, glad that they know who they are and take literal pride in it. she loves them not despite or because of their identities, but regardless of them.
truly, having queer friends is what allowed sana to stop seeing it as a bad thing, as something inherently unknown and dangerous. how could her friends be dangerous? her friends are incredible. sana knows she can be all sorts of things. annoying, for one. two-faced is another she’s been called — that one sticks with her. but sana is all of these things, yet her friends care about her anyway? how could they possibly be anything other than wonderful?
so it’s okay for her friends to be gay. it’s okay for anyone to be gay. sana knows this, understands it. she couldn’t imagine treating someone differently simply because she knows they’re queer.
so why is it so hard to apply the same logic to herself?
as much as she plays dumb about computers around eve, sana isn’t actually unaware of her own feelings. she knows what the sweaty palms and clenching chest mean. she knows why she keeps engineering reasons to invite eve over. she realizes what this must mean, but every time she tries to think about it she feels like throwing up.
sarang is talking about something, maybe his outfit? sana really hasn’t been paying attention, too wrapped up in her own thoughts. she blinks out of them when he sits next to her, looking over at him and suddenly realizing her eyes are wet. she doesn’t know if she wants sarang to notice or not.
“um…yeah,” she says simply, not a hundred percent sure what his question was.

sana chews her lip, looking at her pc. it blinks back at her in its swirl of rainbow lights, taunting her with how functional it is. she looks back at her bed, where her phone sits face-up, unlocked to a specific text conversation. the last text is from yesterday morning, sent by sana, because of course it is.

→ the show was amazing, great job! it was great to see you 😊
she groans aloud, flopping into her desk chair and covering her eyes as the motion sets the chair spinning gently. there's a small mew from the door, and sana peeks between her fingers to see cowboy, her tuxedo cat, strutting into the room like he owns the place. which, to be fair, he may as well.
an idea strikes. she'll have to be careful, keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't try to eat anything -- the last thing she wants is for her baby to get hurt, after all. but it is promising...
"cowboy!" she calls, reaching down to grab his favorite wand toy from the ground nearby. she waves it in front of the underside of the desk tauntingly, watching as his eyes lock on to the motion. bingo. "come on, just go under the desk. i know you wanna tug all my cords out, don't you? yes, don't you?" she coos at him, grinning as he settles into a ready position. she holds her breath as his butt wiggles back and forth once, twice, and he pounces.
cowboy isn't a small cat. he was, once, but sana will admit he's getting a little pudgy. she moves the string out of the way, letting him go sailing by to land under the desk, where he pounces on the cords to the pc instead, tugging several of them free and causing the lights to flicker off.
while he looks around, curious and delighted to be in a place sana rarely allows him, she quickly picks up her phone and snaps a picture. before she does anything else, she reaches in to grab cowboy and tucks him into the crook of her arm, cooing softly. "ope, okay, don't want you getting the wrong idea. you're still not allowed in there, i don't want you electrocuting yourself. you did your job, though, good kitty!"
turning back around, she lets him down on the bed and sends the picture to eve, along with a text.

"did you find a movie you wanted to watch? i'm pretty much fine with anything!" jueun said from the kitchen as she was waiting for their popcorn to finish popping in the microwave. while she enjoyed a nice night out, she felt like she deserved a night in with her roommate, and so they had decided on a relaxing movie night.
she had been living with sana since she moved to seoul for college, and she could confidently say she was one of the few people jueun felt comfortable around. comfortable enough to shed away that facade she put on in public. of course, she hadn't spilled all her secrets to the other, but she didn't feel like she had to put on an act like she usually did in front of others.
with the beep of the microwave, she carefully took out the popcorn and poured it into a bowl, carrying it over to their living room with their soft drinks as well. "although, i think a romantic comedy or maybe even full on comedy movie would be nice. i kind of just want to laugh tonight," she explains.
sana frowns at the tv screen, her lips forming into a small pout as she scrolls through netflix. "more like have i picked a streaming service," she calls back to her roommate. "there's so many options, how am i supposed to narrow it down?" she groans aloud and drops the remote to the couch next to her, instead leaning her head back against the back of the couch so she can look upside-down behind her at her roommate coming in with snacks.
"comedy is a good place to start," sana says, staring at the ceiling as she considers. "how do you feel about animation? i'm good either way, but there's some disney movies that always make me laugh. emperor's new groove, mainly." she raises her head and picks up the remote again as jueun moves into the room.
sana loves the beach. memorial day doesn't exist in korea, but the last week of may is still what sana considers the beginning of summer. she spends it reaching out to friends, inviting them to the beach with her, but everyone's either working or already has other plans. thankfully, though, noel came through, so on the last saturday in may, the two of them are on a train together.
she wears a flowy sundress over her swimsuit, plus oversized sunglasses and a wide-brimmed sun hat. in the seat next to her is a purple tote bag, full of sunscreen, snacks, and towels. she also has a change of clothes tucked into the bottom of the bag -- they'll have to take the train back, after all, or call a rideshare, and she doesn't want to be wearing a wet swimsuit the whole way back.
she glances out the window, bouncing slightly in her seat when she catches a glimpse of the ocean. "we're almost there! what do you want to do first?" she asks noel, turning to face him with a bright smile.
sana has been a chronic job-hopper since she graduated high school. she knows it's not a great habit, but she can't help it, really. she just gets bored. going to the same place and doing the same things every day when they're not things she wants to do is just hard for her; after a few months, without fail, she ends up quitting, regardless of the job.
she's had a few food service jobs before -- waitress, delivery girl, a couple takeout places, but she's never been a barista. she likes coffee, and this cafe isn't too far from her apartment, so when she saw they were hiring she went ahead and quit at the grocery store she's been at for the last few months. that was about all that went into the decision. she's never really been strapped for money, with her parents still helping pay most of her bills, so she really just works to have spending money on her various incredibly expensive hobbies.
she walks into the cafe in a simple outfit, just a t-shirt and jeans with the sturdy tennis shoes she uses exclusively for her part-time jobs. her hair is up in a high ponytail, and her makeup is simple and natural -- though it did still take her twenty minutes to do it. she knows the value of a good first impression, after all.
she bows to the person at the counter as she approaches. "hi, my name is izumi sana. i'm supposed to start work today?"

sana checks her bag before leaving the apartment, making sure she has everything she needs. she and sua are planning on just hanging out and playing stardew today, but there's always a chance they'll decide to do a random stream together or just switch to a different game, so sana has both her laptop and her switch, as well as their respective and her little bag of what she calls the miscellaneous stuff -- a spare hdmi cord, phone charger, her spare joy cons, things like that. she's pretty laid back about most things, but she takes gaming seriously. she doesn't want to have a craving for mario kart and not have enough controllers or something.
she makes her way to sua's place, all her various electronics packed carefully in her backpack and her headphones in. she just has all her liked songs on shuffle, like she usually does when she can't decide what she wants to listen to, and she entertains herself with the wild difference that comes from having cherish, b.e.t, and other kpop groups on the same playlist as anime openings, taylor swift, and fall out boy. she does mouth the words along to basically every song, though, making her wonder if the reason she's so bad at school is because her brain is too full of random lyrics.
she finally arrives at sua's and knocks, bouncing on her feet even as the door opens. "ready for some stardew?" she asks her friend, grinning widely as she puts her headphones in her pocket.
into the DELTAVERSE - huang lucy ver!
-------skills showcased: dancing & choreography - insp
lucy is so incredibly nervous about this audition. however, she's had a lot of practice dealing with her own anxiety, and she knows what she's good at. she's definitely not the strongest singer to audition, and she's likely not even going to be the strongest dancer.
she does, however, have charm.
she designs her dance around that, around showcasing her energy, her charm, her excitement. she channels her nerves into that same excitement, letting herself smile and have fun with the choreography throughout her practice sessions.
she only gives herself a week of practice, though she does so daily, even if she can't make it to the dance studio every day. regardless of her schedule, she finds time to run through the motions of her choreography every day, be it in her bedroom, in the kitchen making breakfast, or even in the shower. she can't do the full dance like that, of course, but she can practice the smaller moves and can make sure she remembers the order of everything.
she even spends her commutes watching videos of her previous practices, committing the dance to memory and making note of places she can improve for the actual audition video.
she doesn't let herself think about her chances. she doesn't let herself consider how many talented people must be auditioning, or how few people will likely succeed. she can't think about the numbers, can't think about the likelihood of success -- all she can focus on is doing her absolute best to show off her charm and the talent she does have.
when the time comes to finally film the video, lucy does as many takes as she can without passing out, trying to have more fun each time than she did in the last take. she ends up using the second try, where she had the most fun with filming. the third, fourth, and fifth run-throughs all got progressively lower energy as she grew tired, and the first served as more of a warm-up anyway.
she films her introduction, splices it to the beginning of the video, and sends it off to studio delta. it's out of her hands, now -- she did all she could, showed the best she had. there's nothing else to do now except wait.
