Erleuchtung.

Omg, I'm scared... Putting myself out there... in the big, scary, virus infested, dehumanising, evil, destroyer of privacy, grammar and decency - the INTERNET...! The breeding ground of such infamous mythical creatures such as trolls, home to furries and fairies and prirates and - wait a second, that actually sounds kind of amazing!

Also, I have been lurking in the shadows with my grey cloak and hood for over a decade now, and just because I start whispering into the crowd now doesn't mean I will immediately be preyed upon by wolves and - you know, I think the metaphors are getting a little bit out of hand. So in all earnest, what am I even scared of? Scrutiny? Criticism? Not being noticed? None of those actually bother me very much, or so I hope. In fact not being noticed is what I am expecting. It gives me ample time to leisurely hone my skills, get over my social inhibitions and self-doubts until I invite others to play in my sandbox.

The only thing I am actually a little bit scared of is verbal abuse - which can happen to me in any social interaction, and learning to deal with it in written form is probably a lot easier than in person. Then there is the insecurity - knowing my humble contributions are being dwarfed by literally millions of absolutely breathtaking better pieces of Art is a formidable shadow to stand in. But then again... I've never created art to admire the end result, but for the process of creating, making friends happy and to expand my sandbox.
