Basically after i lay out the flat colors, i make an additional layer over the sketch and proceed to roughly block out where i want the shadows to be with a mix of vibrant red/blue (i like the blue as i think it gives more depht to the shading but be careful cause it can also make some colors look muddy).

Then i lower the opacity and After that i start painting over the sketch to clean everything up while colorpicking the shadows i placed.

The brush i like to use (default PTS effect pen) tends to blend a lot with other colors and i like to avoid that so i constantly make a new layer for new brush strokes lol… but i only keep like 2 layers cause it’s easier to manage (i merge everything)
