Sadly Iām at a point were Iām honestly never surprised or shocked when I see SA allegations against a male football player.
The football world has been allowing misogynistic actions by male footballers to go unpunished since forever.
Theyāve created a space for men to abuse, use and mistreat women without ever facing consequences for their harmful actions. While also earning loads of money, building platforms and gaining followers.
Over the years weāve seen male footballers outed as serial cheaters, women beaters and r*pists. However, we rarely see these men be held accountable for their actions by the law, society and/or the football community.
Instead we continue to see them awarded and praised. Instead weāre told that theyāre ālegendsā, āthe best in the worldā, āhistoricalā, āidolsā etc.
It is not an exaggeration to say that as a woman I do not feel welcomed, safe or wanted in the football community.
My only wish is to see the survivors of these horrible actions by male footballers and all abusers receive justice and closure.
