There weren’t many things one could do in Hell that hadn’t already been done before. Having seen that and been there far too many times to care about it again for a while, Inderian wanted something more exciting. Something more challenging.
Sure, she’d been urged to go to Earth, just to give others a break from the constant cravings in hopes of mellowing her out. But this was her vacation, and she was sticking to it.
“Who needs ‘em anyway,” she muttered as she walked along the streets of some ranky town. It was certainly noisy enough, and the smell of the food had her mouth watering. But that wasn’t what she was hunting for.
No, she was looking for something or someone she could feed on. Her need for energy was once again at an all-time high, which had her scanning and sniffing about like a dog finally off its leash.
34 Rides A Cowboy To Save A Horse was standing, as they often did, on a street corner, just people-watching. The humans of Portland did so many strange things in their day to day that the angel often felt unremarkable, which, itself, was rather remarkable. They could spend days watching them, eyes unblinking, many pupils roving and rolling to catch a glimpse of everything humanity had to offer.
Cute fashions, tattoos, conversations, strange devices, horns- Wait.
Suddenly all of her attention was focused on exactly one individual., all wings spread wide and eyes open to the fullest.
And a stark study in contrasts that individual was. Where Rides was tall, unnaturally so, this demon was short. Rides was white, she was red. Rides was dressed, technically speaking, in a long dress that hid everything but their shape, while this demon… Was wearing hands that looked like they were groping her at all times.
The angel did not move from their spot, but they did not doubt that the full, undivided attention of the divine would go unnoticed by this creature from hell.
They’d felt the divine aura before they felt the gaze, every hair on the back of their neck raising as goosebumps prickled their skin. Instincts told them to run; after all, it was never a good ending for creatures of Hell when they came across beings from the upper room. Yet, the challenge of just what could happen had them turning on their heels to lock eyes with the being.
Though…now that they were, they weren’t exactly sure which ones they were supposed to be focusing on. Their eyes darted from this one to the next along the angelic being’s face, while making their way across the street, hands crossed over their chest, and trying to seem bigger than they were.
“Aren’t ya supposed to be some kind of ball of light or whisp in the wind when ya come down here?” It wasn’t really a question; okay, maybe it was in its own way just as much as it was meant to be mocking. They weren’t exactly aware of what angels did or how they traveled, but they did want to know why it was here.
They gave themselves a silent pat on the back for their voice staying normal and their legs not shaking the closer they got. Though the goosebumps that began to spread along their skin, they could’ve done without.
ARE YOU NOT SUPPOSED TO BE TRAPPED IN A MAGIC CIRCLE IN A DESPERATE VIRGIN'S BASEMENT?
The voice of the angel was not audible, in the sense that no air was vibrated to create it. The words sprang, fully formed into the demon's mind with all the intensity of standing inside of the greatest church bell one could imagine. This was the only way they'd ever spoken to anyone, and everyone around them who was new in town stumbled as they spoke.
They were quite proud of their clapback, cooking impossibly wide hips to one side and folding their arms beneath their prodigious chest, tipping their head back just enough to give the impression of looking down their nonexistant nose. They didn't talk to demons often, but they were pretty sure it was supposed to be contentious he default.
