After countless calendar adjustments, the UST ChES (Chemical Engineering Society) finally had it's elections. While there are unexpected wins and loses and quite frankly, a lot of wasted abstain votes with a turn out of 68.13%, the members, most definitely, have spoken! Ladies and Gents (if you haven't pass by the bulletin board yet), may I present you, your officers for A.Y. 2014-2015!

The past two days have been committed to the making of my e-portfolio. And thats all thats substantial I probably really did. Slash all the other requirements, I took my time to finally chill on the free hours I earned for finishing late.
Surfing the net, I stumbled to UNICEF's Tap Project. It's designed to make people realise how lacking something important feels, or even just the absence of something much less vital like probably.. our phones.Â
All over the world, there are 2.5 billion people who have no access to a proper toiler. 768 million of which who doesn't even have safe and clean potable water to drink. 1,400 million children die everyday because of diseases related to the lack of clean water.
By disconnecting, the organisation promises to give a day of supply of water to an individual for every 10minutes of not using our smartphones. Imagine how many people you can help just by taking a day off!
To participate in the program, you must visit tap.unicefusa.org using your phone. After of which, the site will ask you to put your phone down and flash mind opening facts and trivias on your screen. If you've finally decided to use your phone again, make sure to tap "finish and see result." The screen will then display how much you've helped.Â
So set down your phones, and UNICEF will do the rest. Help someone today by basically, doing nothing! Now only UNICEF can make you feel good while slopping around haha! Â
Last week was probably the peak of our year; the 6days we waited, dreamed, and longed for.. for almost a year. But along with the awesmazing-nes of the trip, came a cough-cold epidemic, that seemingly got everyone.. including me.
Today marks my 6th day calling in sick, though I never got to really rest yet. This week was also undoubtedly packed: from a regular class-ed monday, to jog-night tueday, rebook-my-cancelled-flight wednesday, 5C-party thursday, and finally, the Paskuhan Friday. Of course, with the constant reminder that my college life is ending, by the sun of a gun Dhean, I couldât miss a moment.. even it may mean extending my stay with my slimy buddies a couple of days or so.
I woke up today feeling it all sink in. Last week was our Educational Trip. Last night was our last Paskuhan. And we leave UST in 3 months. (Thanks again Dhean) And I didnât even notice time pass by. I spent my whole life being good with just a computer and a cup of coffee, and I wish I could still do. But now I canât. And as cheesy as it may sound, the last 5years took a toll on me, and I'm once again attached. I'm like a tarsier now, desperately clinging to my branch while I still can. So if there's anything to do in the next 3mos, it is to never let a good time pass. I will most surely be spending more time in school now, our outside.. But as long as theres C-company, you can count me in.
Itâs that time of the year again, the only time I really get to update this blog. Iâll make this short, I know you anyone visiting this post probably just skips the intro anyway haha. So without holding you any longer, here it is.
MY 2013 WISHLIST
1. Small Plain Crew Neck Shirt (Pref. Mustard, but any color will do)
2. Yabu: House of Katsu GC
3. Bronuts GC
4. Halo Armband (for 5â Phones)
5. Dryfit towel/facetowel (8th layer?).
6. Dryfit Jersey/Singlet (P150 sa divi).
7. Training shorts.
8. I am Number Four by Lore
9. TMR top 10 Book 2 by Garcia, Quillamor, and Arias
10. Firito Lay Chips haha!
11. JL/Avenger Graphic Tee (or their icons)
12. Statement shirts
Everything listed should be in the P150-300 range. I hope this helps you somehow. Anything not in the list is welcome too, Iâd actually appreciate them more. There you go, happy holidays!
Thor: the Dark World revolves around the vendetta of the Malekith to Asgard, which pretty much wiped out 99.9% of Dark Elves in the very distant past. Jane Foster, after stumbling upon the Aether, finds herself in a very awesome adventure to save herself and the entire universe. Alongside Thor of course.
The movie is a mix of the same action-comedy-sci-fi mix up you see in most Marvel films. It is heavy in CGI, but the kind you appreciate more than loathe.
Fight scenes aren't as serious as what you'll find in other action movies though and you'll really find yourself cracking a chuckle here and there. It's quite long, as what you'd expect from the clash of two immortals.
Twist and turns are to be expected of course. And be warned, there are deaths. Some you won't expect and you'll really feel bad about. Don't waste those napkins though, for the characters happen to move on very fast. At least I found it fast.Â
Overall, in my truly honest opinion, I'd give it an 8/10 (what can I say I enjoyed it). It's the type of movie the whole family will enjoy, and the fanboys justifiably geek about. It even encourages Norse mythology references, which I found are very educational.
If you have no plans for the weekend yet, this is it. Give the last days of the break (or long weekend) light with some Asgardian lightning (see what I did there).
Do stay through the credits though (but you already know that).

Carrie is a story about a TK, Carrie White, whose been an outcast of some sort. Well its really easy to understand given that her Mom is probably born to make her life (and give her life) miserable, not to mention she's also a total psycho.
I'm going to the plot now so if you don't want spoilers, now is probably the right time to hit 'x' or home or I don't know.
So here it is in a nutshell: She was having shower after PE class, then coincidentally she got her first period or puberty. Now not knowing stuff about that because her Mom never really told her anything about adulthood, and probably they didn't have time to discuss it in class (w/c they really should) thought she's bleeding to death. Now like what anybody else would do, she asked for help, but probably asked the wrong crowd. And probably might involve touching white things with her blood soaked hands (nope, not even the killing scene yet). So what do you do to a girl who thinks she's bleeding to death but just really having pms? You pick on her! (Really guys really?).
One of the girls, Sue Snell, felt bad about it and talked her boyfriend, Tommy Ross, into taking Carrie White to prom to make up for it. After a few tries, Carrie finally said yes.
Now what seems to be Sue's best friend, Chris Hargensen, doesn't feel as bad, and when she got suspended and consequently, can't go to prom anymore, blames it all on Carrie. She then manoeuvres a trap which spills pig blood all over Carrie after she gets named Prom Queen, and they made sure she does. Of course criminally-masterfully planned with his pedophile boyfriend Billy Nolan.
On prom night, everything seems like another prom movie until Tommy and Carrie are awarded King and Queen. Though there were some technical glitches, Chris still managed to pull off the stunt. Which also may involve a really dense metal bucket (which contained the blood) falling on Tommy's head and eventually killing him. Now when everything sinks in to Carrie, all hell breaks loose.
Could we really blame the kids? Of course! Had they known she was TK, they wouldn't have done it. But they'd still do it to someone else. And nothings more fun than seeing the bullies burn (yeah one of them did!).
The following scenes involves being creeped out more by Carrie's mom, Margaret White, and battle to death between the two.
Though Tina Cohenchang of Glee handled being slushied in Prom better, her Tommy didn't die (and Carrie isn't as self-centered) so we'll give her that.
Overall, it's yeahhh a good movie, especially if you have some extra cash to burn. If I was a legitimate movie reviewer I'd probably give it 6/10. It's a good mix of terror, horror, creepy-ness for the faint of heart. But if you're a horror movie buff I'd guarantee you've seen lots better. Â
If the Stephen King classic doesn't give you a chill in your heartless soul, Carrie's played by Chloe Moretz. Now we're talking! (And Gabriella Wilde on the Side!)
Carrie is still showing in major cinemas! Watch it and give your Halloween a good scare!
EDIT: I should really learn how to scale my scoring. It's not EquiDes its real life haha! (Initial score is 7/10 but I wasn't being completely honest. Thanks for feedback!)
Coffee shops as study-out places is quickly becoming a trend now, a staple even. And as Pepper.ph already jutted down what you need to know in camping, I like to add a few tips and tricks I learned as a camper myself.
1. Bring a Jacket.
It can get real cold in there. And as you plan on staying for 5-6 hours or more, I highly advise you bring that cardigan at least. Unless you're with a hugger, thats the best you have.
2. Know when to come.
When finals is already the next week a lot of people suddenly have interest. And believe me when I say that they really do line up. When you're local coffee shop is next to school, be there on opening. An hour later will already be too late. You don't want to be that guy who goes in late ends up settling with McDo or Ministop. Be earlier than on time.
3. Plan Bs.
Of course not all the time you get to have that table. Or that seat. But in times when the coffee shop couldn't be fuller, you should really have a Plan B. To give you an idea, mine usually goes Starbucks-CBTL, then when both is out I go to Army Navy and I couldn't be happier. There's that occasional stares, but you do learn to wave them off. People should mind their business and when they don't, you let them know.
Psychotic-mass-murderer aside, the only let down I see is the lack of outlets. Now that comes really handy when you have a laptop or a battery hungry phone with you. In those situations, Yellow Cab makes a great substitute! Just too bad there's none near our place.
4. Bring Food.
Biscuits and Peanuts are a must in my book! Not only do they save you a lot of cash, they traditionally should make you smarter. You also don't have to feel sorry because everyone is doing it. As long is it don't smells, it's good to go!
That probably makes my list. Plus what's in Pepper's handbook. It's also good to note that they do come with very comfy washrooms with almost unlimited paper towels. Now you know you can when you feel that ";)".
Following the success of Twitterâs Vine on Android and iOS, Instagram released its latest version having the same features of the App. Like Vine, you can only post clips that were taken using Instagram. Thereâs no camera roll function like the one found in the photos menu. Clips have a max of 15s, and you can pause it in between. It also includes 3 filters exclusive for videos.
This is bad news for Twitter. I feel bad they didn't get to patent or do anything about the idea, if its even possible. Users will surely be switching ships sooner or later. Who wouldn't want an all in one app?

So this is what I wrote in the "who I really am" section of our course site in Particulate Technology.
Tyrion Lannister is the third child of Tywin and Joanna from the Game of Thrones series. Tyrion is a dwarf, and was mocked for it as the Imp. He wasn't as respected as his siblings, Cersei and Jaime, who turned out to be the Queen and a Knight later on. He was also accused to be responsible for his mother's death, because she died giving birth to him. Because of this, he was loathed by his family, and didn't get recognition for his accomplishments and performances. Despite of this, he is very loyal to his family, and would do everything to uphold it's honor. He continues to strive in life, equipping himself with wit and knowledge as his sword and shield in the realm.
The series isn't quite done yet, nor have I read the book, so I couldn't say much on how he carry outs in the end. But so far, he's been an inspiration to a lot of men suffering the same fate, literally or metaphorically, or both.
I'm an underdog. And I learned to enjoy being one, and most often than not, I root for my blood. Go Spurs!
For my plans, I intend to finish my BS program in time, and hopefully be certified the same year. I'm still thinking if I will take the NMAT or pursue my career in ChE after. I hope to excel in whatever path I take, and God help me, erase all doubts inside me, and block all the rays of it coming in. I wish to live a fulfilling life without regrets, and a life-long adventure for the mysteries and joys "living" has to offer.
Last thursday was a mess. Habagat strikes again and this time it deluged the whole UST area in just a couple of hours (est 2-3). I had to walk barefooted along Lacson and Espana until we reached our friend's house near Nagtahan. And man did my feet swell.
But anyway while surfing through social networks, looking for news, I stumbled upon this  ad. A lot of them actually. My IG was basically flooded too. With McSpciy promotions that is. Bloggers like David Guison of www.davidguison.com, and Richie Z. of www.thepickiesteater.net posted pics of the new sandwich and I couldn't help myself from drooling.
I'm a big fan of spicy. I usually add a generous serv of pepper on my pastas and pizzas, and Jalapenos are my top toppings for my delis and hoagies. That time I heard Nigella Lawson talk about hot sauce and ice cream, I tried one right away, but I must admit I should've looked for recipes. My paradoxical ice cream didn't turn out too good.Â
So you could imagine how it made me feel when I heard the news. This ones a must try. I've had McDo's Chicken Sandwich a dozen of times, and I remember tasting a hint of spiciness in it. It was actually too spicy for some of my friends. And I wonder how far the line of spicy McDo's going to push it.
My new craving is priced just right. Not below the budget cut of students like me of 50 Php, but not also as expensive as the Big Mac and the 1/4 lb-der. Get it? Haha. The sandwich alone ala carte is 80 Php and if ever you chose to get it in a meal, thats with regularly-small sized french fries and drink, it would cost you 35 Php more. Upgrading to medium would be another 20 Php.
So yes, at 80 Php, that would already get you a decent Japanese Bento somewhere in school, or 2 orders of Siomai Rice if thats your taste. But you haven't seen the size of this baby, and from what I'm seeing in pics and what my sister told me, its humungous. She barely survived half.
I know what you're thinking. I'm blogging about something I haven't tasted or even laid eyes on. And I should put 'bluff'Â in my tags right now. But with all things theres a reason (not really in all things).
You know me. I'm a sucker for freebies. I probably joined every promo and giveaway there is. And this one's no exception. Yes. This one. Ladies and Gents, may I present to you..
Yes, its Fathers Day tomorrow. And McDo's celebrating by giving away a McSpciy for the first 100 customers from 11AM-2PM in ALL STORES. Yes, IN ALL STORES. I would've dialed 86236 last thurs if it weren't for this!
So tomorrow if you have time, drop by your local McDo, and give this baby a try! I bet you could just order a McFloat and get one for free!
Its almost midnight, so before I sign off, a Happy Fathers Day to all the dads and dads to be! The world wouldn't be the same without you sirs! Drop by McDo and if you're lucky, let them spice your day a notch.
I'll update this post with my verdict of my free sandwich tomorrow. I hope its not saying too soon. Haha!
EDIT:
I did it. Went to McDo Quirino just in time! Fell in line, and the next thing I know I was holding the golden fillet. I still ordered the M. McSpicy Meal because my sister wants one too.
Taste-wise, it was good. But I'll be honest and blunt. I expected more hot-ness in the freaking sandwich! I'm really sorry it didn't stood up to its name. It was humungous though, as everybody said it was. But damn wasn't it hot! Sorry I couldn't get over it haha!
Regular McSpicy (L), and the free McSpicy (R). It wasn't as big, but as good!
But be the judge. The Sandwich is staying for good, and though I hoped it was a bit spicier, that is all we're getting. I'd still consider buying one next time though, its a good sandwich, it just not live by its hot hype. I hope one day McDo offers options on how hot their sandwiches and burgers be. This one, on a scale of 1 to 10, would probably just be a 2 to 3.5.
Yes, I read the book, and nope, I donât understand whats the fuss about.
Almost a month ago, Brown released the 4th book of the Robert Langdon series and I took every chance I could to go to the nearest bookstore and finally get my hands on his new baby.
Back to Inferno. Transhumanism & Overpopulation. I didnât really see the alarm in OP until Zoboist and Sinskey pointed it out. The population is exponentially increasing and if we donât do anything now, weâd reach a point where resources will fail to provide. And this is what the story revolves about. Zoboist being, a transhumanist, believed that humans are capable of doing much more, and with the current stats we wonât be able to make it to that point of our full potential. So how do we solve this problem? Annihilate 1/3 of the world. Thats how! Or at least thats what the best minds thought about. Earlier in the story, it is assumed that the mad scientist made a virus capable of doing so. First thought out to be water borne, then finally realizing its air borne. Zoboist, being such a tease that he is, gave out clues to where the virus is. And I forgot to mention he committed suicide on the first page.
So the story starts with Langdon waking up from a near-assassination experience having a bullet wound in the head. Accompanied with the lovely bald, Sienna Brooks, they set on the chase, following clues to clues, hoping to locate the virus in time. Which is supposed to go live wire the next day. Of course a Landon story wouldnât be whole without relation to history and symbology. Zoboist turned out to be hardcore Dante Alighieri fan and patterned his clues on Danteâs Inferno. Thus the title. So the twist and turns? Sienna Brooks turned out to be Zoboistâs lover. And. The virus turned out to be released a week earlier. And. It wasnât designed to kill. It was designed to make 1/3 of the Earthâs population infertile. Shocker. It ends like that. Without a vaccine. So things come to mind? Brown must be a transhumanist. Its not enough for him to propose this genius plan, but the characters didnât quite solve the problem yet. And. Dr. Elizabeth Sinskey, the director of WHO, considers it. Honestly, I found the book very entertaining and educational. Heck, I found all of his books entertaining and educational.
And if Iâd be a book reviewer someday Iâd give it a two thumbs up! (Im not sure thats how they rate books) If you havenât read it yet and you still feel like doing so even after me spoiling, be my guest. You wonât regret it.
And I left the Manila part out because its really not worth fussing about. The beloved city only gets a mention on more or less a page. If youâre in it for the gates of hell, donât bother. Youâll just find yourself running through the book and asking âthats it?â in the end. But yeah, a good read! đđ

The most anticipated bazaar of the year's back and within just over a week, its literally lying in the corner. Yes, thats right. Bloggers United 5's here and it's on June 1st 10AM-9PM at the SMX MOA convention center (theres another one in Aura). Please do visit my booth at.. JK. But at 100 Php this is a grab! I don't know about you but I'm definitely going. Thats 2 days before school so this is definitely the last-est stretch of my summer (as if I ever had one haha). See you there!
Last April 13 the Outbreak Manila team once again successfully let loose waves and waves of zombies on the streets of BGC as the young and the young at heart hopefuls of a zombie apocalypse gather for this one of a kind fun run. This is probably the closest to a zombie apocalypse we'll ever be -- but with the recent news in the States, I don't think we're that far off.
We didn't get to take a lot of pictures because we were too busy keeping ourselves alive, but there were some though who were kind enough to let us take a few snap shots and give us a head start before chasing us again.
And us finishing. I dressed up as a cheapo Oliver Queen and I did manage to scare a few  runners which was really fun!
Joining is worth Php 800Â and if you're ever fond of chasing and screaming you can also sign up as a zombie which is still worth Php 600. The package includes a tote bag, shirt, and lots of freebies. Finishing alive would get you a medal which none of us get. In our defense, fast runners are eaten up first.
We really can't wait for the next one and I highly highly highly recommend it. Though they don't offer variations in distances (they only have 5k) they have obstacles and uhm yeah zombies? to make up for it. Just don't be pikon, and aggressive and I'm sure you're going to have tons of laughing-screaming-jumping-crawling fun.
(I've seen a lot of people fall down, stumble, and got injured so bringing your own first aid kit won't hurt either. They have medics around the area though.)
