Known for her "machine gun" style, she was considered one of the fastest female tap dancers in Hollywood history, with some accounts even suggesting she could execute over a dozen steps in a single second.
Because studio floors were often waxed, making them too slick, she sometimes used special tap shoes with rubber treads to achieve this speed.
