♢          As a finger was jabbed in his direction, Brasidas simply arched an eyebrow and kept his cool stature. He quietly reached his own hand up, wrapping his fingers tightly around Thaletas’ wrist and pushing his finger slightly to the right so that it wasn’t pointed at his face. Only then did his expression turn sour.

❝Is that a threat, Thaletas?❞ His voice lowered a bit – almost DANGEROUSLY. He kept his gaze firmly on the Spartan before him, not allowing himself to sway or, for a few seconds, breathe.

   The general’s gaze was just as firm despite the tight grip they had on his wrist; one needed more than a good show to scare a Spartan soldier like him. So, in order to show that he was not just all barks and no bite, he took a step closer; eyes narrowing daringly at the taller one. His voice was not low, no. It was fruity and confident. 

He parted his lips, as if he wished to speak; there was no arguing when military ranking were spoken of. They were to be respected, of course, and Brasidas was not about to change that. A deep inhale and he took a step back, seemingly RESIGNED.

♢          It was difficult to keep his own gaze as firm as he wanted, especially with the unease edging at him. Brasidas blinked slowly and took a brief glance around.  ❝The best we can provide you will be one of the tents the military uses.❞

❝It will do the job. Come, I will show you where we can find a spare one to set up.❞ Brasidas stepped to the side, bringing a firm hand down on Alkibiades’ shoulder to guide him.

❝Lysandros.❞ He tested the name once more on his tongue, not looking at him as he walked.  ❝Tell me some about yourself. You are from Thebes, have you got  job or family to return to there?❞ He forced a closed smile onto his lips, doing what he could to seem more pleasant than he felt. 

“That’s all I can really ask for. It’s better than being exposed to the elements, I think,” he replies, jumping slightly when Brasidas’ hand comes down onto his shoulder. Well…so far so good, he supposes, but…how long can he possibly keep this up?

Don’t worry about that now. Take it one day at a time.
