I am generally not very good at painting backgrounds, so let's try something different this time.
Black-headed gull. Watercolor and ink.
The Beeeaters
Little Beeeaters (actual species name) huddling together on a branch.
This has been in my living room for a few months, it was one of the first paintings I was happy to display there.
Acrylics on paper.
The Barn Owl.
Gouache on paper.
Last set of pages from my Colombia sketchbook. Since Colombia has so many species of birds, I ended up sketching quite a few.

Red-headed barbets, male and female, hanging out on a branch.
Those birds are from Northern South America.
Gouache on paper, fresh off the easel.
Some more sketches from Colombia, this time from around Santa Marta, close to the Caribbean coast.
All drawn on location.
Little dunlin from the sketchbook.
I'm a bit busy at the moment, but there is always time to draw some birds.
Today I finished the sketchbook I took to Colombia last winter. Here are a few pages from Boyacá and Santander. Mostly drawn on location, I think the Barichara one is the only exception.
I'll post more pages later.
King vulture from my sketchbook.
A beautiful forest vulture from the Americas.

Collared aracaris sitting on a branch.
Acrylics on paper.
After every piece I do with acrylics, my first thought is always "never again", but somehow I come back to them every now and often.
A little Goldfinch I just painted in watercolors.
I am quite happy about the result. I finally feel like I am going somewhere with watercolors, even though I still make mistakes I can't fix.
I've been playing with oil pastels recently. I am really enjoying them, even though I only have a very limited selection of colors.
Toco Toucan. Acrylics on paper.
I probably put more effort into painting the bananas than the bird, but I'm still happy with the result.
Keel billed Toucan.
I kept this in my head for way too long. Had to grab my markers and make a small poster.

Spectacled owl, a bird I saw in Colombia, has now found a new spot to perch in my living room.
Acrylics on paper.
Whale shark in watercolor.
Annoyingly messed up the sea by putting too much water on it, but I had a lot of fun painting the dots on three shark's skin with gouache
