This book claims it’s not about teaching you what to do but teaching you what kind of person you want to be. It is extremely popular and with good reason. Full of useful examples and great advice I would thoroughly recommend a read.
Getting Things Done
This is a very dry book about how to organise your life. It teaches you how to-do lists to the extreme and some people take it very seriously. If nothing else it will make you think about how you go about organising your work and how to be more efficient.
Talk Like TED
Presentations are a part of life, especially academic life. Also the people you admire the most are often those people who present their ideas really well. Don’t you want to be one of those people? This book sets out to tell you how to give fancy and engaging presentation and is a little bit slow getting to the main points. The author had previously written a book teaching you to speak like Steve Jobs.
The Happiness Project
You know what would be really pointless? Working this hard, getting the grades you wanted and still feeling miserable. It’s a possibility. Lots of smart people feel miserable. But there is lots of interesting things to be said on the subject. The author spends a year looking at lots of different ways to make her happy.
