The contrast between TMBTE and EIA is bringing me to tears the longer I marinate in it.
The battle of self worth and destiny finally being realized. Exchanging insecurity with confidence and allowing for evolution in the knowledge that you know what you want out of this experience.
Where Vessel once found himself cemented, stationary in his reality, across the line. Consciously or unconsciously separating himself from what could be. We now see him come into his own and completely disregard the line heโd previously had set before him.
โAre you gonna dance on the line with me?โ
An offering, a proposition for unity rather than what previously would feel like an ultimatum.
โIf this is real, then I am all up in a frenzy. Not like before when I was empty.โ
Part of the journey to emotional and spiritual healing is understanding and acknowledging the parts of you that were or continue to be self destructive. This specific talk of frenzy is a parallel to The Apparition, where Vessel references being in a state of suicidal frenzy. We see this idea of a frenzy evolve into more of an excitement or longing that is no longer drowned in sorrow, but the intrigue of the ineffable promise the future holds.
The image of the recipient of these songs has also changed as well. Whether you believe itโs Sleep, a part of Vessel, or something else, where there used to be this intense desperation, a feeling of a life line on the verge of snapping, thereโs now a deeper fondness, an understanding. Time and time again there are references of Vessel and this entity being reflections of one another, but now it feels like he himself either believes it or is finally feeling its effects.
Just running forwards, a life like wires as I see the past on an empty ceiling
I play along with the life signs anyway, but hope to God you don't know this feeling
Yet in reverse you are all my symmetry, aparallel I would lay my life on
So if your wings won't find you heaven, I will bring it down like an ancient bygone.
Even if I'm on my own when the silence is deafening, I could be stuck here alone when even my future is threatening
Something is lifting the bones, something is dancing in revelry
Wider than oceans below, taller than titans on box springs
Instead of this bond between them being an excruciating weight, past pain is now being soothed by the true symbiosis of their connection. No matter how alone Vessel feels, the sensation of that bond being present is his reminder that he hasnโt been forgotten, that something or someone is looking out for him and waiting silently.
Like clockwork beneath the permafrost, I might lose my mind
Back to back with oblivion and you might breathe that burning breeze through paradise in me
And the waters are warm where they used to run freezing. Where there used to be storms, my horizon is fleeting
With this new chapter of Vesselโs story, itโs inferred that all of this is to meet a specific goalโฆ his inevitable unity with this entity
Are you the guardian angel hacking into my brain cells? Stepping up from my future, uploading my true self
Did I get this far for nothing, or are you the reward? Guarding hounds in this hell house, opening new doors
Are you the method in my madness?
Are you the glory in my wrath?
Additionally I love the use of glory as a way to describe the entityโs influence, considering the end track of TMBTE was Euclid which translates to renowned or glorious in Greek (our boy loves his Greek mythos)
Apart from the lyrics you can genuinely see the shift in Vessel physically in this last tour. He seems much happier, his vocals more confident and Iโm truly grateful I was able to witness it in person.
