Magic mirror / Family calendar
Old monitor dismantled and placed in a photo frame. Addition of a mirror film and cutting of a black sheet for the background.
Raspbian installed on a RaspberryPi Zero W (placed in a 3D printed blue box).Â
Configuration :Â
- Â Â Â Download and install Raspbian (full : with Chromium)
-    Setup network, timezone, user/pwd, blockpopupâŚ
- Â Â Â Install Unclutter to be able to hide mouse cursor :
- Â Â Â Â Apt-get install unclutter
- Â Â Â Create your Dakboard (itâs free for a simple private usage)Â on https://dakboard.com/options/message
- Â Â Â Make sure that Chromium starts up full screen, the mouse is hidden :
- Â Â Â Â sudo nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart
- Â Â Â Â @xset s off
- Â Â Â Â @xset -dems
- Â Â Â Â @xset s noblank
- Â Â Â Â @chromium-browser --noerrdialogs --incognito âdisable-features=TranslateUI âkiosk https://dakboard.com/yourURL
- Â Â Â Â @unclutter -idle 0
- Â Â Â Set up a cronjob if you want to turn the Pi's screen on and off on a schedule. crontab -e that looks like this:
- Â Â Â Â # Turn monitor Off at 21:00/09:00pm during weekdays
- Â Â Â Â 0 21 * * 1-5 /usr/bin/vcgencmd display_power 0
- Â Â Â Â
- Â Â Â Â # Turn monitor On at 06:00/06:00pm during weekdays
- Â Â Â Â 0 6 * * 1-5 /usr/bin/vcgencmd display_power 1
- Â Â Â Â
- Â Â Â Â # Turn monitor Off at 22:00/10:00pm during the weekend
- Â Â Â Â 0 22 * * 6-7 /usr/bin/vcgencmd display_power 0
- Â Â Â Â
- Â Â Â Â # Turn monitor On at 08:00/08:00pm during the weekend
- Â Â Â Â 0 8 * * 6-7 /usr/bin/vcgencmd display_power 1
- Â Â Â Rotate your display to portrait mode :
- Sudo nano /boot/config.txt
- Â Add the following line to the bottom of the file :
- display_rotate=1
