Mr. Edward Hyde is such a good horror monster and it’s a shame his deal is boiled down to Scary Crazy Shapeshifter. He commits the most disgusting over the top violent acts while all dressed up like a Victorian gentleman. He IS all the awful things the Victorian establishment does and yet pretends it doesn’t, made physical, still clad on class signifiers. A living testament to all the blood it takes to maintain the cogs of the Empire well-greased. He is all the things society sweeps under the rug but is ultimately responsible for- drug addiction comes to mind. He is what they label as Other, but actually is Them. But yes he is the Scary Crazy Shapeshifter because he needs to mark himself as Other while being Them. It’s not that any regular Victorian upper class twat could have become Hyde, but rather than Hyde already is THE regular Victorian upper class twat.

Exactly! Hyde is explicitly made of the desires and pulsions that Jekyll already had. The physical transformation plays into two common fears at the time and arguably still today - disfigurement, what if I'm not me any more? and scientific horror, what if they go too far ("against God" at the time)? but only to serve a question already asked by Plato: if you had the Ring of Gyges and could turn invisible at will, would you act justly because of your beliefs, or would you stop acting justly because there are no consequences for you? Jekyll "turns invisible" by crafting a persona that is not-him and thus can be, as you said, Other-ised while being born of Them. Hyde is who Jekyll would be without consequences. Hyde is what Jekyll would always blame Others for. Hyde is something that, ultimately, only exists within Jekyll and the Jekyll-like, because it needs the Others to express it - the Others cannot need that, because they're not Them.

Hi, I'm Ash (he/it) and I live with my girlfriend (trans woman, she/her) and our pets. My girlfriend does work through a temp agency at the moment and I do digital art as I am unable to work a "real job" due to disability. Our monthly bills hit around $1200usd/mo and we've have been struggling to meet this for YEARS. Our landlord has said he has kept rent low because we're poor but that this place could go over $1000/mo (which feels like a threat but lets not think about that right now)

I currently do commission work as well as running a Patreon where you can find desktop backgrounds (free to use within the terms listen on the album they're in)

as for the commission work, I do pet paintings. given a photo I will paint a digital portrait of your beloved pets (doesn't matter what animal) for about $60usd a piece. I am open to expanding what i do on commission but i do not think character commissions are in my arsenal simply due to skill issues on my end.

Anyway the art you buy from me will look something like this:

for a small fee I can do lettering and/or a simple border
