wow that post sure was a hit (got two likes from my mutuals)
Hi, if you are a witchcraft, occult, or pagan blog (that is NOT run by a terf, nazi, or tradwife) please like or reblog and I will follow you! My dash is a little too quiet these days.
look, my main takeaway from the upcoming rant is that no, it is not a five-card spread.
it is five 1-card spreads for five different questions related by a single theme.
"I always have to draw clarifier cards, even on big spreads!"
because your seven card spread is asking seven different questions and you are only drawing one card for each question, and in order to gain any level of context or specificity you find yourself needing to expand your seven 1-card draws into seven 3-card draws
"tarot is so draining, even for small spreads!"
partially because you are not doing one reading.
you are doing three readings on three different questions related by a theme.
"I have a lot of trouble linking the cards"
because the spread was not designed to facilitate linking the cards. the order of the cards is at worst random, and the spread designer chose to put it in a shape reminiscent of a blooming flower and call it the Rose of Love spread, without regard to how information is supposed to flow in-between the cards
you have trouble linking the cards because you are trying to link cards between different questions. just because the spread says card #1 is "what is the future of my romantic love life" and card #2 is "what is my biggest self-love blockage" doesn't mean there is any information flow between these two things.
my old woman rant today is that a tarot spread is supposed to be like a machine or a computer program which you insert a question into, and it parses and organizes the information and sends it back to you in multiple parts.
a single tarot spread should be organized to read a type of question, such as future prediction, information gathering, or advice.
you should be able to input any relevant question into that same spread regardless of topic (love, work, friends, spirits, whatever).
a good tarot spread is one which provides the framework and context to understand the cards inside of it. the cards can be easily "linked" because the spread is designed for the cards to talk to each other and work as a team.
the famous "three card draw" is an example of an excellent tarot spread which is versatile to handle almost any question you throw at it, and spits back out (most commonly) a past/present/future interpretation,
but I can't stress this enough -
asking the tarot three questions and drawing one card for each question is not a three-card draw;
it is three one-card draws, even if the questions are related by a common theme.
Beautifully put 👏
in 2023 may you find many seeds, nuts, berries etc
glad that this one hit home with you all

if you find prayer difficult or unengaging, consider keeping a "destroy this book" style free writing journal.
You "pray" by writing, scribbling, drawing, practice automatic writing, sigil making, etc, and then dedicate the page to your desired entity by anointing it with oil and herbs, sealing it with wax, staining it with coffee or tea, pressing little scraps of things into the hot wax on top of your prayers, etc.
it's basically a practice of free intuition that feels very very good, better for me than sitting in a dark room with a candle and speaking in a formal tone.
As an added benefit, once you fill your book, if you feel like labeling the pages (I didn't, lol), you have within your possession a lumpy, bumpy, messy compendium of beings you can use to summon that absolutely no one else will know what to do with.
i hope you always have enough money to pay your rent on time, to buy your favorite groceries, and to invest in your art.
I receive that blessing & send it to everyone that follows me
And So It Is.
and so it is.
And so it is.
Bless.
By the power of three times three, let it be
Amen v’amen.
One of the things that really gets me when it comes to online witchcraft and magic spaces is how hard people push the narrative that beginner magic is dangerous. It really isn't. No demon is going to show up and suck out your soul because you accidentally summoned it. No deity is going to go out of their way to harm you. Most spirits can be dealt with using a basic banishing spell. It is extremely uncommon for witches to hex each other, but you wouldn't guess it from the fear mongering that goes around about it.
What IS important for beginner witches is learning mundane skills like discernment and critical thinking. Because when you're just getting started, the most dangerous thing you are going to encounter is other practitioners preying on newbies. Know how to spot grooming. Know how to spot cult-like behavior. Know how to read books critically. Know how to spot bullshit when you see it.
Have fun with beginner magic. Get messy. Make mistakes. Fuck around and find out. There's no need to be afraid of it. No one ever cultivated a craft or skill by being too afraid to DO.
WTF IS GOING ON? Tarot spread
Honey & Honeybee Magic
Magical Properties of Honey
Love & Kindness: The sweetness of honey is reflected in the sweetness of its magic. If you are looking to heal relationships and increase positivity, consider using honey.Â
Health:Â There is medical-grade honey for a reason, it promotes wound healing, especially for burns (Mayo Clinic). However, I am not advising you to use honey medically without first discussing it with your doctor. In the more magical sense, honey can also be used for spiritual healing.Â
Wealth & Bounty:Â Honeybees actually produce an excess of honey and when humans collect it, it improves the health of the hive. Use honey in your practice to welcome extra wealth.Â
Magical Associations of Bees
Cooperation & Community: Bees are one of the few truly eusocial insects. They care for their young and communicate with each other through dancing. Through the work of many, tiny bees can produce large hives and large amounts of honey.
Femininity: Female bees are the core of a hive. They care for the young, pollinate flowers, exchange information, and are the only bees that can sting. A queen bee is a female bee that has been fed royal jelly as a grub. Worker bees represent the importance of women in a society.Â
Renewal: Bees are hardly seen during the winter and their arrival in Spring represents new beginnings. They are a sign of good things to come.Â
The Sun:Â Not only do bees emerge in the brighter and longer days as Spring approaches, but they also navigate using the sun. Additionally, their golden honey is reminiscent of the sun. Honey or bee imagery would be helpful in spells related to the sun.Â
Magical Things to do with Honey
Leave jars of honey in the full moon to imbue them with magical energies
Mix honey into your tea to promote health and positivityÂ
Share honey with someone you want to develop a relationship with, romantic or platonic
Anoint a candle with honey in money spells
Place a jar or bottle of honey on your altar when you are hoping for a raise or bonusÂ
Bee Related Offerings
Mead
Milk mixed with honeyÂ
Beeswax candles or wax meltsÂ
Honegar
Honey cakes
Flowers
Other Thoughts
Buy local honey if possible! A lot of grocery stores or farmer’s markets sell them.Â
If you are interested in beekeeping, consider raising a species other than honeybees. There are many species of bees that are invaluable pollinators and we need to work to save them!
Warnings
Honey should not be given to babies under 1 year old (Mayo Clinic). Some people are allergic to bee pollen in honey, be cautious.Â

Harmony Jar Spell
Today is Litha, so I made a small (teeny tiny) jar spell to promote harmony and well-being in my life. Here’s what I did in case anyone wants to use it :)
Materials:
-a small container
-wisteria (for overcoming obstacles)
 -sunflower petals (for happiness)
-lavender (for harmony)
-sugar (for preserving love)
-lemongrass essential oil (for peace)
I simply combined my materials in my jar and left in the sun to charge and that’s it! Hope people find this useful and happy Litha to those of you who celebrate it :)
if you're a witchcraft/pagan blog, you need to block the following accounts immediately:
these blogs are known for being part of a neo-nazi, antisemetic hate group that sends spammy asks to nearly every witchcraft blog on this hellsite. these asks usually include a link to their website, which just boosts their seo and gives them more traffic. do not interact with them. do not answer their messages/asks, and do not engage. i highly encourage you block the following accounts:
gulbara
ostara-444

i also recommend turning off anonymous asks - they tend to prefer to send asks anonymously, and if you have that feature turned off on your blog, they'll be less likely to bother you.
i'll be adding to this list as i discover more!
I did a little ritual last night for the full moon, and I went to bed feeling so at peace. It was fantastic.
I did a past present future tarot spread for the full moon, and got 10 of Wands, 4 of Cups, and the Chariot, which felt a bit like Freya (I got a confirmation from my pendulum that it was her) telling me to accept her presence, and that I’ll do well working with her, or something to that regard. After I put the cards back in the deck and did a quick shuffle, I checked the bottom card of the deck as a thank you, and it was The Empress!
(I know those cards don’t necessarily have anything to do with her or That kind of message, but that’s how I interpreted it, and I’ve never been wrong in an interpretation for myself with my personal deck!)
Before I went to sleep I made sure to set out a little jar of water, my deck, and my pendulum on my windowsill to charge in the light of the full moon, and I also felt compelled to set out my largest rose quartz as well.
Then I closed my eyes, grounded myself, and began meditating, envisioning myself sitting on an empty beach with the gentle waves rising and falling in time with my breaths. I immediately envisioned a woman with blue eyes and blond hair approaching me. She was larger even than me, and I’m nearly 6 feet tall!!
She started talking to me, telling me things like how she cares about me, and some other things that are a little fuzzier in my memory. She was so warm, and I felt so safe. She felt like the most loving and supportive mother you can imagine.
If you had asked me a year or two ago how I felt about working with deities, I would have probably said I wasn’t interested. But now? I can hardly believe it myself but I’m rather excited to work with Freya!
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Freya.
I don’t work with any gods. For the most part I grew up in a catholic household, but I’ve been agnostic for ten or so years now. Things like candle magic, crystals, tarot, oils and herbs have never really bothered me. When I first started delving into magic a couple years ago, those things really clicked and gave me a “oh that makes sense” sort of feeling.
But the idea of working with any “pagan” gods (I hate words like pagan and secular, they sound like dirty words bc of my upbringing) was completely uninteresting and for the most part off the table for me.
I have a spirit familiar - a black cat who I call Magus - who has communicated with me in the past that he works with a god, but he could not tell me who. He said they would reveal themselves when I am ready. Recently, I started thinking about it a lot again, and asked a friend about some gods associated with cats. When she said Freya, idk I feel like something clicked.
I’ve been thinking about typing out this post for a couple of days now. Struggling with my feelings on the idea of working with old gods like her. Feeling like I might be crazy to think she’s even reaching out to me. But at the same time, whenever I think of her, I feel this overwhelming sense of calm, and comfort, and like I’m surrounded by love.
I want to know more about her. I want to know if she is the one reaching out to me. Has been looking after me my whole life, really, since Magus has been with me even when I was very young, before I knew that magic is Real.
TL;DR - how do I know if Freya is the god that is reaching out to me? How do I even know that she’s real, and that I’m not slowly dipping into insanity?

What is up with all the controversy on Witch hazel?
It’s too drying… Hurts the skin… Causes more skin issue… As always no two oils (in this case extracts) are made alike. True natural Witch hazel extract is Common witch hazel is produced by extraction, soaking dried parts of the plant in a water-alcohol solution which draws the medicinal components of the plant cells into the solution. This is why most witch hazel solutions have 14% alcohol content; but just 14% enough to cleanse and disinfect without drying. Again, all witch hazel extraction solutions are not created equal in that some manufacturers use a lower quality alcohol which is harsher on the skin and this is why some people refuse to use witch hazel. Unfortunately, the Witch hazel you purchase over the counter can contain up to 39% of alcohol, sometimes more. So how will you know what you’re getting? Read the label! You are looking for 14% alcohol content with no preservatives or added ingredients. What about Alcohol free Witch hazel? Alcohol free Witch Hazel is not really Witch Hazel, and as such provide little to no antiseptic qualities. Benefits! Spot and blemish control Soothe and heal diaper rash Soothe poison ivy and poison oak Soothe chicken pox blisters Varicose vein relief and Shrink bags under the eyes How to use dab a little on with a cotton ball for spot treating or fill a 2 oz spray bottle and spritz away! Nature’s Blessings to you all!
Protection Jar
You will need! ~Dried Rosemary ~Dried Basil ~a small bottle (like these) ~blessing salt (I use kosher salt that I’ve “blessed” with my quartz) ~Lavender oil
Mix the rosemary, basil, and blessing salt. Carefully put it in the jar (I like to use tweezers due to how small the jars are, but it takes a while and can get messy!)Â
Add a few drops of lavender oil to the jar.
Seal up the jar and shake it up a little so the oil mixes into the dry aspects well.
Place the jar somewhere to charge. I like to use my quartz pendulum to bless it (I hold the pendulum above what I’m blessing, and let it swing naturally until it settles), but if you have some other method of blessing or charging objects that works well for you, go for it!
Once the charm has a chance to charge, place it in your car. I keep mine in the center console, but the glove compartment or hanging from the rearview mirror are also good options! You can also put it in a secure pocket in a bag that you often carry.Â
I’ve now had two instances that have made me absolutely sure that my protection jar really, really works, at least for me. I know it’s a really basic thing that any beginner witch can do (making one of these was the first “big” thing I did when I first started practicing), but that’s one of the things that I think makes it important.
At the end of January this year, I was in a car crash. I was hit on the driver’s side, the doors crumpled so badly that they wouldn’t open at all. I had zero injuries, I was just shaken up. About a month ago (end of August), my partner was in a far, far worse crash. He was cut off, and sent into a ditch, where he was pinned to his car door by a metal pole. He could have died, but he walked away from the crash with a black eye, some cuts, and a partially collapsed lung that very quickly recovered.Â
I am convinced that the reason my partner survived that crash is because he had a protection jar that I made for him in his car. Why? Because one of his cuts scabbed over in a very distinct heart shape.
This spell jar works, guys. Like, really works.
