look, in gintama all your expectations for characters are shattered. it introduces itself by saying hello here is our main character and he will cause more than half the problems that our gang will be forced to solve. that’s just the formula. but I can’t wrap my head around how bonkers katsura kotarou is.

he shows up looking mysterious talking about the shared past that he and gintoki have, then it’s revealed that he’s a terrorist. despite implying that katsura is capable with a sword, his main choice of weapon are bombs. he’s good at drag. he hates extraterrestrial creatures but he will defend his pet alien Elizabeth to the death. Elizabeth is kind of not an alien but in fact a person-sized alien in a duck costume. katsura looks honourable but is more than willing to sell people out for the bit. his character is phenomenal
