Preston Wilhelm is on the run after having recently broken out of prison. With no way to get a job due to his criminal record, he took up a deal with some shady folks to sign up for the U.E.S., and get info on the Underpelago in exchange for some decent cash.

Jim Bob thinks there's a grander conspiracy going on in the Underpelago. He's not convinced that people across the archipelagoes could just- disappear into some convenient underground realm like that, and that either it's a coverup, or that someone's behind this.

Bess Osborne is trying to find Edgar after he went missing during the initial chaos. The other carnies, as much as they wanted to find Edgar, too, tried to convince her it was a horrible idea. But Bess wasn't going to give up on him just because of a little danger.

Slayton Monroe thinks that the Underpelago has some connection to the Moon Gateway. He found footage from one of Jane Mews' trips into the Underpelago that wasn't released to the public, and he couldn't help but think of the last time he had seen Salerno- also in an 'eldritch' location.

These four were put into a group together arbitrarily by the Underpelago Exploration Society, as safety in numbers is seemingly always a good thing.

Disconnected Depths is a Poptropica AU inspired by Depth Spelunking and The Backrooms.

One day, people across the Archipelagoes of Poptropica started going missing under mysterious circumstances. As the situation grew worse, organisations, individuals, and smaller parties from across Poptropica came together to look into it.

They formed the Association Of Missing Persons Rescues (A.O.M.P.R.).

One of the people that joined was Harold Mews- who, of course, wanted to help, even if he had just recently went broke from the cryptid hunting contest.

He ended up being the first to discover a strange, underground part of Poptropica under the Central Archipelago that seemed to stretch on forever.

He told his sister, Jane (the current C.E.O. of Mews Corp), about what he had found, against the advice of the A.O.M.P.R. Jane immediately went on to feature the story on the news, firmly believing the people deserved to know.

This sparked a lot of people wanting to go into these depths- which were called the Underpelago- for various reasons. The problem with this was that nobody knew what was down there. They had every reason to believe it was dangerous.

But soon enough, the A.O.M.P.R. formed the Underpelago Exploration Society (U.E.S.) to replace the A.O.M.P.R., and left it in the care of Harold due to his experience. (Except the finances, which was left to someone else.)

Many people managed to join the U.E.S. before they tightened up their membership requirements.

Four of those people are the protagonists of our story.
