Salt + electrolytes:

As you take salt pills, say a spell or blessing.

Incorporate salt into general health, wellness, and energy spells.

Draw sigils on your salt shakers.

“I drink a lot of electrolytes, and Pedialyte to help with orthostatic issues, and I will cast over my drink much the same as I do for tea, coffee, water, etc. So any spellwork for drinks could easily apply to one's electrolytes or water.” (x)

Tips and tricks:

Ask for specific strength to your blood vessels and brain.

Draw sigils on your medication bottles and mobility devices.

Carry around a resilience sigil or a sigil to keep your heart rate and blood pressure at a more average level.

Do little enchantments on your compression stockings and put them on a windowsill to charge with solar energy.

Again, this doesn't replace medical treatment, but it can certainly offer a lot of comfort, especially in the middle of a flare-up. For me, stress is a major trigger of my POTS, and I find that praying to my deities makes me calm down much faster, thereby allowing the flare-up to be a bit shorter.” (x)

Glamour magick is a spell that you cast on yourself to change how others perceive you. 

The key to this working is to manifest your intent. It's a placebo effect. If you believe it is real, it will become real (in a sense). 

Normally glamour magick is preformed while getting ready for the day, night, or an event (school, date, outing exc. exc.) Which means it blends into the mundane.

This is from my personal grimoire, thus my own opinions on glamours.

In traditional witchcraft, we often come across mentions of the enigmatic Witch Father. His Folklore is scattered, and there is little consensus to who He is. The mythology of Witch Father folklore is spread across centuries, hidden in tales of the Devil and in the transcripts from witch trials. He is a multifaceted being who rules over life, death, initiations, knowledge, and the untamed wilderness lurking at the edges of society.

The Witch Father is an archetypal Divine Masculine Spirit that illuminates life and is a lord of death. Witch Father is a catchall title for the myriad spirits witches have historically contracted with and have since been omitted by the witch trial transcripts across Europe. 

He is most commonly known as the Devil in today’s craft. As we know him, The Witch Father is an initiator and holds the keys to our disinhibition towards pleasure. He opens the way to occult knowledge and gives us the opportunity to explore (legal) pleasures without the need for guild or shame. Walking with the Witch Father allows us to dive into the hidden realms and learn the Occult Arts to change our lives. He also allows us to revel in primal human desires. 

As the Initiator into Witchcraft, the Witch Father takes on the mantle of the Light Betwixt the Horns. He comes into our lives and offers us the choice to go down this path and walk with Him. He grants us an understanding of magick, nature, and pleasure. He empowers us to uncover our Truth and the Truth of the World. As the initiator, some see the Witch Father as Lucifer. He is also the Serpent who revealed to Eve that the fruit from the Tree of Life will not cause her to die but will grant the wisdom of the universe.

The Witch Father allows space for us to free ourselves from the inhibitions placed on us by general society, and especially the church. He encourages us to rebel, sing, dance, and uncover wisdom. He leads the Witch’s Sabbath, which grants us a place to revel in the freedoms offered there. By leading us to this sacred experience, He fills his role as an emanation of the untamed wilderness, the primal subconscious of our most human desires. He gives us the Church of Nature. Taking the liturgical prayers of the Church and the Book of Psalms, mixing that with more ancient pagan animism, we are given access to a hidden power through His teachings.

Now, while I talk as if the Witch Father is a God, he is not. He is an ancient and powerful spirit who has led witches over the centuries and demands reverence. He is not all-powerful and is not a creator. He works his charms through magic and shapes the world. He is not a distant, impersonal being. He is immediate to us and is a mentor for us. 

Disinhibition

At the Witch’s Sabbat, our spirits fly away to commune with Our Devil, other witches and spirits in His retinue. It was a place to mix business and pleasure. At the Sabbat, witches would learn new spells, come together to work rituals, learn new forms of magick from the Witch Father, and of course partake in enjoyment. 

The Sabbath is a place of Initiation for new witches and also a place for learning new aspects of the craft. Once the business concludes, the Sabbat becomes a celebration. We may forget the staunch rules of mundane society and revel in our animalistic and beastial joys. There is singing, dancing, food and drink. We can indulge in these desires and these delicacies. All of which is orchestrated and gifted to us by the Witch Father. 

The Wild

There is a deep connection between the Witch Father and Nature. They are ‌synonymous with each other. He is an emanation of the land and its spirits. As Christianity became the dominant religion, and as society shifted further away from living in harmony with Nature, the figure of the folkloric Devil grew. He calls to us to return to the untamed lands and to forget the society that weighs us down. He offers liberation instead of our oppression. 

The Witch Father, as Nature, holds a duality over life and death. He is life itself and the bringer of light. But he is also the Lord of Death and of shadows. As the year turns, we see both aspects and the cyclical nature of them. Death giving way to new life and of life giving way to death. He is destruction and creation. Death and resurrection. 

Even His iconography and the existing descriptions that we have of the Devil show the immense connection He has to the Land. He is a shapeshifter comfortable in being a recognizable animal, a humanoid form, or even a hybrid. He reminds us of our baser instincts and that we are not above animals or the land just because we, as humans, have subjugated them for centuries. 

He is the Horned one, the light betwixt the horns, Terra Pater, Primus Magus. And he has revealed himself to us in so many other forms throughout the centuries. It’s hard to pigeonhole the Witch Father as any one being, or to even say “this is what he looks like.” He’s shown us he is comfortable changing his shape on a whim. He takes on the mantles of mentor, guide, and is a safe space for us to let our guard down and find enjoyment outside of our mundane lives. 

Old Scratch

Old Scratch is a more antiquated term for The Devil or Satan primarily found in the Southern United States and the South Midlands. This name has been memorialized in Faustian Folklore such as “The Devil and Tom Walker” and “The Devil and Daniel Webster” where our protagonist sells his soul to the devil for prosperity. 

This reinforces the theme that our Witch Father, the Folkloric Devil, offers us a chance to change our luck and our lives. Now, in these stories, the protagonist is taken away and dragged into the fires of hell, but in the living practice of Traditional Witchcraft, it doesn’t happen that way. We see these stories as what happens when trying to break deals with the Otherworld. Contracts and Pacts made with Spirits should be kept up with. It’s imperative. 

Black Shuck

In East Anglian folklore, Black Shuck is an omen of death. If you see him, it is said that you will die before the year is up, and if you meet his eye you’ll be dragged away. 

The first mention of the Black Shuck is in “The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle” in 1127 where He is affiliated with a Wild Hunt that was in Petersborough from Lent through Easter. Later on, in the 1500s, he is said to have broken into a church and killed two paritioners while kneeling in prayer. 

I was on a break from social media when I read this one, so this isn't a full review, but I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Appalachian folk magic. This is especially relevant to Southern Appalachian lore since Beyer lives in North Carolina.

I loved Beyer's first book, Wild Witchcraft, and with this one, I think she's officially become one of my favorite authors. This is a very thorough collection of folklore and practice for how short it is, and it's organized in a way that is easier for my ADHD brain to follow than some other authors.

I also have to gush about the illustrations. Both of Beyer's books are beautifully illustrated, but I think the art in this one is especially incredible. It's worth having a physical copy for the info alone, but the gorgeous art really makes this a book I want to display in my home.

Finally, I've found Beyer really helpful as an example of combining a pagan religious worldview with a Christian folk magic tradition. Her first book is very much pagan, with info on the God and Goddess and the Wheel of the Year. In this book, she talks about how Christianity has always been at the core of Appalachian folk magic and doesn't try to "paganize" the practice, while also leaving room for readers to bring their own beliefs to the table and explore what feels comfortable for them. This book did not feel preachy in the way some books on American folk magic do.

The doodle you make or the picrew you use, the poorly executed poetry or basic bare bones prayer will ALWAYS be better than AI generated offerings.

I am sick of having my feed flooded with practitioners, pagans and other polytheists using AI. Specifically deities like Brigid should never be offered AI in my opinion, it’s essentially a slap in the face.

AI generated spells aren’t shit, it’s what a computer assumes will work based off of what it can gather from internet trends and research. MAKE IT YOURSELF, ask a human for help anything but AI.

A certain % of spells will always fail. I tend to approach it systematically.

Ritual work:

Did you explicitly state that spirits may only partake of the offering if they agree to do this job for you?

Did you limit access to the offerings to only spirits who are capable of carrying out the required task?

Did you plan your ritual around spirit gateways, such as certain astrological timings, days of week, or at natural spiritual gateways? Or, did you engage in acts of witchcraft to create spirit doors? All of these things make it easier to correctly contact and "call through" spirits.

Did you provide a "due by" date for the work to be completed?

Did you accurately and plainly describe exactly what it is you wanted to have happen?

Spirit work:

Did you correctly evoke the spirit? I.e., are you relatively sure the spirit was actually properly called into the ritual?

Did you evoke a single spirit, or many? If you only evoked one spirit, what steps did you take to ensure it would agree to do the job for you?

If you only evoked one single spirit, what steps did you take to ensure that the spirit is capable of doing the task at hand?

Is the spirit, or categories of spirits, known in lore to be able to deliver the kind of results you want? Are they related to, or do they dwell within, the domain where you want your results to occur?

Is that spirit(s) known to help people such as yourself? I.e., if you don't have a personal relationship with the spirit, are they known to help strangers?

Sorcerous strategy:

Did you perform divination before the spell to find out if there are blockages or problems you should address beforehand?

Did you perform divination before the spell to find out if evoking that spirit for that task would be effective?

Be reasonable with yourself:

Have you done many spirit evocations, and they usually succeed? If so, this may be a fluke.

Is this a new spirit you're working with, while other spirits usually deliver results? If so, you may have not yet learned how to correctly evoke that spirit, or how to engage with them for mutually satisfactory results.

If you're brand new to trafficking with spirits in order to work magic, then you may have just not learned all of the requisite skills necessary, or how to harmoniously put them together.

Have you successfully cast many spells in the past? If so, compare your spirit working rituals to prior, successful spells. See what aspects may be missing.

Of the first and foremost, I give the following:

The original ritual sourced from the Grimoire of Arthur Gauntlet provides a prayer immediately after the preliminary that follows the tradition of coercion. I am not one for coercion and so have chosen to provide the next prayer which does not use any threatening language but bids the spirit to come.

The second is of a test of angels and the like, to which one asks the following: Do you confess to His Coming? to which, if the spirit is of God, is bound to say Jesus Christ is Lord or, from personal experience, some other rendition of the such.

The next is of the bonding, it is of good nature to establish the relationship but also to ask the spirit for a sign of its loyalty, this is simply an assurance between the magus and the spirit that the spirit will aid the magus and not act out of line. This is often done by the establishing of a pact whereby the magus signs and so to does the spirit by astral signature.

The last note is on that alterations. Some of us are not necessarily fully obliged to Abrahamic Doctrine but the Book of Oberon gives, for us that follow the ways of the Infernal Divine, an interesting note that Lucifer is considered the Father of all Devils and cannot be summoned directly but his name is of such power in the Infernal Realm that it carries with it the ability to summon and bind spirits. The Grimoire Verum provides Lord Lucifer alongside Mother Astaroth and Father Baalzebuth as superior spirits invoked prior to ritual. Therefore, one could invoke by the name of Lucifer, the Sacrament of the Black Flame (being the inner spark of Divinity which grants the magus the ability to do magic and also to gain attainment amongst the said LHP) and the like. One may also include simply the name IAO, which is often considered as a notarikon as I am the Alpha and the Omega. From understanding, one may consider this as an all encompassing force, everything from the Active, to the Inactive, Alpha et Omega.

Edit - upon further reading of the prayer, I have found that it is a bit harder to transcribe... so I will be writing it and make little corrections for future's sake

First, Say this Prayer

O' Lord God, Holy Father and Lord God the Almighty Which has created all things from nothing and haddest them in mind before they were made Which art everlasting to everlasting and under whose power Heaven and Earth, Hell and the Sea and all that is within them are subject and yield all reverence and obedience Vouchsafe for me to hear my prayer, thy unworthy servant (name) And confirm, O Lord, my God, that thou hast wrought me, hold forth thy right hand over me Help me for the sake of Jesus Christ and send me the grace and power to the spirit (name of spirit), in this crystal stone visible to my sight Let there be so much light only and only so sufficient light O' Lord for thou has said "Let there be light" and it was done, That I may then be able to perfectly see and behold said spirit (name of spirit), and that he may be obedient unto my by thy mighty power That he may show me the truth of all such questions I demand without all leasing, falsehood or deceit to the uttermost of his office Grant this, O Heavenly Father, for the sake of thy dear son, Iesum Christum.

Another Conjuration to Make a Spirit appear in a Crystal Stone, looking glass or such like

I do conjure thee (name of Spirit) by the Father + and the Son + and the Holy Spirit + That which is the beginning and ending, the first and the last, and by the latter day of Judgement that thou (name of spirit), may appear in this crystal stone (or any other instrument) gently and beautifully, in a fair form (it also includes a boy of twelve years of age.... what? Just say the above... I'm not looking to catch a case) without hurt or damage to our bodies or souls, and certainly to inform us, without any guile or craft, all that we may ask of thee to know, by the virtue of Him who shall come to the Judge the Living, the Dead and the World by Fire. Amen

So too do I conjure and exorcise thee, (Name of Spirit), by the sacrament of the Altar and the substance thereof by the wisdom of Christ by the Sea and of his virtues by the earth and by all things that are above the Earth and their virtues, by the Sun and the Moon, by Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury and their virtues, and by the Apostles, Martyrs, Confessors and by the Virgins and Widowed, and the chaste, and of all the saints of men and women, the Holy Innocents and by their virtues. Ares malewife

in Homer's Odyssey, Ares' home is placed in Thrace (source). it is necessary to remember that Thrace was considered a bit backwards due to differences in living styles and customs, and therefore were thought to be primitive when compared to Greece. this made the Greeks perceive Thrace as a wild and barbaric place, as described in Herodotus' History (source). In saying this, the placement of Ares' home in Thrace suggests that the "barbarity" of the Thracian people was a reflection of their divine ancestor Ares, and vice versa.

secondly, the fact that Ares actually takes part in BOTH sides of the Trojan War indicates that Ares really isn't there to deliver any so-called "justice" but to engage in the fight. he's there to drive the war. many of Ares' epithets paint Ares as a blood-thirsty guy-- "bane of mortals", "Ares, insatiate of war".

now, in spite of Ares being described so terrifying, he does often find himself in embarrassing predicaments-- getting stuck in a jar, or being stabbed by a mere mortal, etc. i think these are there not to prove the milder side of Ares, but to belittle Ares and support the Greek agenda in emphasising that even though war is necessary at times (hence Ares' place amongst the 12 Olympians), it is more favourable to be strategic and intelligent about it, not to simply fight for the sake of fighting (hence the placement of Athena, who embodies this, well-above Ares in the peoples' favourites poll).

IN SAYING ALL OF THAT, i don't think mere blood-lust is a good enough summation of Ares' character because in a fair few myths, he is shown to have quite a noble side too. he slays the guy who raped his daughter, Alkippe, and he is also the one who captures Sisyphus after Sisyphus dares to trap Thanatos. so, in addition to his enjoyment of war, he is also a courageous guy. he gets punished and humiliated, but always gets back up and stays true to himself.

For everyone with mental and physical stuff that they have to take medication for! I’m both mentally and chronically ill and take a LOT of meds each day. There’s so much negativity about magic and meds, so let’s find a way to incorporate both into your life! <3

Pill bottles:

Charge the bottles (while empty), the bowl you place your dose in, or your pill organizer in the sun or moon

Decorate them to look more witchy! Don’t cover up important labels. [X]

Draw sigils on the bottom to help minimize side effects and so you don’t forget a dose!

Use empty bottles for anything witchy (spell bottles, herb storage, etc.) [X]

Place crystals or herbs around/on the bottle

Use color correspondences - doodle on the lid or bottom

Meds:

Keep in cool pill boxes

Whisper an enchantment or blessing over them for desired effects (easy to swallow, less side effects, doing their job, etc.)

Think or say an affirmation with each one (I say so many affirmations a day!)

Take with (drinking safe) moon water or infused water.

Also use a cool cup, could be decorated, covered in sigils, using color correspondences, and more!

Coat your pills with honey before taking them to sweeten up your life (especially helpful for the gross tasting/fast dissolving meds)

IV treatments and injections (no needle mentions):

Listen to witchy music

Draw healing/soothing sigils

Keep crystals in your pocket or bag

Bring infused water with you (if using herbs, check for interactions)

Bring a spell bottle/sachet to your treatment for good vibes, quick healing, minimal pain, and the like.

Ah Myrtle, serving truth and looks. She’s not a supreme but we can learn a thing or two from this red headed witch.

If you want to serve the spirit of truth or maybe you just need to get the facts straight here’s a spell to enchant someone’s tongue to only tell the truth.

Word to the wise- it only works as long as they have a tongue to speak with.

Notes- I fill in a couple gaps and there is a symbol in the book Myrtle is using I don’t recognize, and I don’t use magic if I don’t know what it is.

You’ll need:

5 while candles

Deers tongue

Cup of water

Picture of target that must tell the truth

Light 5 white candles around the cup of water. Encircle the cup of water with deers tongue herb. **do not consume the herb, it’s not safe for consumption and should be in a circle outside the cup.** place the photo of the person on top of the cup.

Say:

Veritas, Honurum, Justitia, Sapientia, Scientia.

I conjure and command thee, dark lord to Vernacular, summon truth from lying tongues.

Fie upon the wicked who love to throw sand in our eyes. With force I command thee, let truth be spoken!

At twilight on a Wednesday, take up a piece of paper and write a mispelled version of your target’s name 9 times. For instance, if your target is named John Smith, it could be as simple as writing it Jon Smith. If your target’s name has no known spelling variants, simply misplace or misuse a letter.

Proceed by crossing each mispelled name with the proper spelling of that same name, and then fold the paper in half. Write your own name on the folded paper, before folding it once more, in such a way that your name is folded outward.

Next, massage Compelling Oil into a scarlet candle (not in glass,) keeping your mind focused on the truth you plan to extract, before sprinkling it with a handful of mixed crossroads dirt and dried primrose.

When you’ve finished with both the written charm and the candle-dressing, set the folded paper on a surface near your bed and place the dressed candle atop it. Light the candle, and recite:

“By the liminal powers of Crossroads and Twilight, I command you (insert name),

and I bind you with threads of Verity.

Engulfing your deceit and smothering your lies, I compel you (insert name):

That you might walk in the harsh light of truth!”

Allow the candle to burn down entirely, and take the remaining wax and paper to a Crossroads at Twilight. If possible, it’s ideal to return to the same crossroads from which you harvested the dirt used to dress the candle. Bury the remains of the ritual and pour libations over the place of burial.

Conclude by standing in the center of the crossroads and giving an offering of blood while you invoke, aloud, the Crossroads Entity most closely associated with your practice.

I was asked for the instructions to my stop gossip spell I posted earlier, so here they are!

Dress four red candles in a mixture of Commanding Oil and Shut Up Oil (preferably one that contains peppers of some kind). Place the candles in a diamond and place four hot peppers between them. Sprinkle onto the candles cayenne pepper, black pepper, red pepper flakes, slippery elm, calamus root, licorice root, and cloves. Light the candles and say:

Hold thy tongue, hold thy words, may all your slander start to burn. Your attacks against me all shall fail, bring truth and justice so I prevail!

This next part is kind of optional, but was an important part of the spell for me. Take a jawbone (I used a cat jaw) and bind it with twine. As you bind it say:
