Bella's Capstone Project

Thank you, to those of you, who were cheering me on. I appreciate all the support. 

This project has been one of the most challenging experiences of my school journey. Through research and interviews, I feel like I've learned a lot about myself and the people I know/ have access to. I applied what I’ve learned and in doing so, discovered a clearer sense of our identity as communal beings. The support from my professors and peers, especially Sharla, played a crucial role in keeping me focused and motivated. To future students: manage your time wisely, ask for help when needed, and stay open to the unexpected lessons the process brings. My project is a message of reassurance for anyone feeling lost or disconnected.

I know I said that coordinating people's schedules might be the hardest thing, but now it feels like finding software to transcribe all my interviews for free seems to be the hardest part right now.

Over the last two weeks I had: some interview reschedules, a meeting with our professor, some Instagram planning/ strategizing and postings.

The next two weeks are the last two weeks. I have four meetings and interviews set up for this week and hopefully I can get the others nailed down for next week. I haven't been posting as consistently, so its time to set timers to do that at least three times a week.

I had an Ah-Ha moment this week the day I met with our professor. I was limiting myself with the population demographic of young adults. I also realized that connections didn't have to necessarily be only a social aspect, but could lead to networking and improving my professional life.

I feel like time is flying by in a blur. I'm glad we have check ins to keep me on track.

What has been happening over the past 2 weeks?

Over the past two weeks I have: posted to my Project IG page, I have finished some interviews, I have scheduled some, and I had a meeting today with our professor to sure up some of my weak spots.

What is coming up for the next 2 weeks?

Over the next two weeks I'm hoping to get on a better posting schedule for my project IG page. I have one interview scheduled for this weekend and three more in the works. I have opened up my restrictions to allow for a few more interviews to be done before the end of this semester.

Hiccups/Hurdles/AHA moments

Hiccups I encountered included human scheduling problems, technical recording issues, and file transfer/ transcribing issues.

Some hurdles I had to overcome included limited time, motivation, creativity, and not enough brain-power.

I had an AHA moment when I was thinking about my self imposed restrictions and I realized right before my meeting with our professor that I might be limiting myself and I got her approval to open up my restrictions on my interviewees.

Where are you on your timeline?

Over the past two weeks, I was able to do one interview and nail down two more. I made sure my Project's instagram page was open and posted twice.

Over the past two weeks I was able to do my first interview and set up times for the next two interviews. I also made sure my projects Instagram page was active and posted my first two post.

In the next two weeks I have a lot more interviews planned. Tomorrow, I have two planned. I'm hoping to get another, unplanned, one in also.

The hiccups I'm dealing with usually involve timing and scheduling. Its taking a lot longer to get people nailed down for interviews than I thought it would. It feels like time is not on my side and its crunch time.

The hurdles that I have to overcome include: my poor time-management, scheduling conflicts, compialing data into my drive (instead of letting them be in a million places), and keeping on top of everything. I think I try to get everything done from start to finish in one go, but it might be less overwhelming if I could accomplish a few small things every so often.

Something I realized, lately, is that I'm a terrible boss. I expect so much from myself and then if I get it accomplished I just move on, instead of appreciating the small wins. Its no wonder that I don't like working for myself; no appreciation.

I am behind schedule, but I'm hoping to use tomorrow to get ahead and give me a boost of confidence that I can and will execute this project on time and well.

The semester feels like it started yesterday, but its already week two. So far I have looked over a few past Capstone Projects. I think looking over more would be beneficial. I have decided that I want to use my art to create connections. In these next two weeks I'll still be honing down my ideas into deliverables. I am contemplating asking my Professor about the possibilities of an art show.
