đ Stepping out of a closet, clothes rumpled. (Lol Bo)
He had raked through his hair and slung the suit coat over his shoulder before stepping out. In the light of the hallway Maddox realized he hadnât entirely finished tucking in his shirt. He promptly did so as a swirl of yellow out of the corner of his eye caught his attention. âAh, Miss Bellamy.â He smiled, clearly in a better mood than usual. âFancy seeing you here.âÂ
Had he... ever seen Bo in a dress?? âAbsolutely gorgeous. Yellow is your color. You are definitely getting laid tonight.âÂ

If Maddox Keyes looked disheveled, Bo didnât notice. Her expression went from surprise to elation as she shouted over his more formal greeting. âMADDOX!â
All decorum was forgotten and she nearly tripped over her dress springing forward to fling her arms around his neck. Dresses longer than knee-length were the worst. âI missed you!â The former pirateâs compliments finally soaked in and Bo stepped back with a squint. âAw, shit. Thanks. Iâve never worn nothin this fancy before.â Bo was actually trying not to utter the word ainât while she was in France, which took all of her self control, so cusses were still on the menu.Â
âI like yourâŚâ Well, his suit wasnât exactly put together, was it? âPants.â Boâs expression grew serious and she leaned in close with her eyes locked to his. âIf you need rescued from that blue-eyed demon king, blink twice. Weâll leave right now.â And not have to give any speeches.
Bo served up the most enthusiastic greeting heâd had in a very long time. Maddox wasnât big on affection but it wouldâve been hard not to wrap his arms around the fellow pirate and hug her back. âIâve missed you too.â Another thing he did not often do, utter phrases like I miss you, but Maddox had missed Bo. Sometimes he even missed their time on the island. The things they would do to pass time which seemed to drag, but in retrospect registered as only a blip of short months.Â
Pants. He smiled. âI tried.â His grin grew wider. âIâm fond of the blue eyed demon king. Personally, I wish he was more of a terror at times. Sâpose Iâm a glutton for punishment. Actually⌠weâre getting married.â Maddox had not told anyone other than Trinity and Eden. He kept the news a special secret, a stolen jewel no one could take away.Â
The plan was to tell Afonso first, but Bo was already there. âIâll send you an invite to the wedding. With a plus one, yeah?â
Boâs jaw dropped when Maddox dropped the bomb about actually getting married. She slapped him on the arm. Not hard, but it was a wide and uncontrolled swing. âShut the fuck up!â she said with a gasp. First Noah, and now Maddox? Bo always thought Maddox Keyes would be single forever and die before he could get too old and wrinkled. She blinked several times while continuing to process this new reality.
âWell, goddamn, thatâs somethin else. You, gettin hitched to a king. Does that make you a prince or what? I gotta say, I love seein all your pretty pictures together. You seem happy.â Maybe it was possible to find happiness after the Tierney shitshow after all. Bo was glad for Maddox. And Noah. Was it her turn to get married? Bo wasnât sure marriage would make her happy, so probably not.
Bo grinned and shook her head a little when Maddox brought up bringing a plus one. âCarmen ditched me. Itâs a long story. But, uhh, Iâll bring Brian with me if I have to.â Bo fussed with her gown for a second because she had definitely stepped on it. Good thing she didnât plan on returning it to the rental service. She looked back up with a grin. âSo I heard thereâs a chocolate fountain but itâs been set up in a courtyard, and Iâm tryin to find it. Wanna come with?â
