What if MK gets poisoned somehow and is bedridden while his friends and Red Son, his crush, take care of him. MK is flirty with Red Son the whole time, but when he gets better he doesn't remember it.
Man, I love a good sick fic 🥰 Having a character lose their faculties due to an illness while the person they care for has to look out for them is soooo good~
Usually with Spicynoodles you see Red Son being the target of a sick fic because he’s so much more reserved and less likely to admit his feelings for MK… but MK has some of those qualities too. He doesn’t like to burden others, and perhaps he gets it in his head that he’s not good enough for the Demon Bull Prince. So instead of confessing his feelings, he just keeps his distance and tries not to burden Red Son with these clearly unwanted feelings.
When he gets sick, it’s probably something to do with all his Monkie Kid business again. Like, he got poisoned or something by a demon he was fighting and has fallen ill… Normally Red Son would not be the one to take care of him in this situation, but Mei has insisted that she be the one to go hunt down the demon who poisoned him in order to find the antidote. And of course it’s late so Pigsy’s Noodles is already closed, so once he hauls the Noodle Boy back to his bed, it’s up to him to take care of him until Mei gets back with that antidote.
At first it’s fine. MK is just kinda whiny and miserable about how sick he feels and Red Son gets to complain about how annoying MK is when he’s all needy like this. Eventually, though, his whines fade away and he just kinda sadly lays there, still clearly as sick as before, but not being as vocal as he was. When Red questions this, MK just mumbles that he’s fine and Red can go home. He doesn’t need to be here if he doesn’t want to be. Red Son is a little stunned… he’s not used to seeing the Noodle Boy acting all meek like this. He questions it, stating that MK is clearly sick and unable to care for himself, so why would he think Red Son would just abandon him like this? To which MK responds that he doesn’t want to be a burden. If he asks for too much, then the people he cares about will leave him… Red Son of course points out that MK is the one trying to get him to leave, so his logic makes absolutely no sense! And in any case, this is hardly a burden at all. Red Son was willing to spend five hundred years trying to lift a mountain for someone he loves- certainly he’s fine dealing with a little vomit.
MK looks a little dazed for a second, clearly lightheaded from his illness and taking a long time to process Red Son’s words. When he does finally react, though, his face melts into a goofy smile and he giggles happily- the first time he’s seemed at all happy since this all started- and he just says “Aww really? I love you too, Red hun~”
Red Son is left reeling… he didn’t… he didn’t say that! He just meant- wait a second did the Noodle Boy just say he loves him?
The rest of the night MK is still sick but he’s now hanging off of Red Son, being all lovey and completely forgetting his original hesitance about upsetting Red Son. Meanwhile Red is a flustered mess. He doesn’t know what to do with himself or what to say, so he just keeps helping the sick Noodle Boy and tries desperately not to loose his cool.
Anyway, Mei comes back with the antidote and the next morning MK, much to Red Son’s chagrin, remembers none of it.
At first Red is upset, but after a little thought he realizes this is probably for the best. Now that he knows MK loves him, he doesn’t have to worry about being rejected and he can plan a proper courtnapping.
