This lady is pretty convinced that reading an actual story to children younger than 2 years is impossible but baby D and I have enjoyed story books since she was a few weeks old lol.
This does explain why it is so hard to find cardboard books with stories in the library. I do prefer them because those books with just pictures or one word per page are sooo boring. I will say that I am sure that baby D does enjoy stories because she likes listening to my voice doing funny things. But maybe I should try the other books as well...
She does have an incredible attention span though. If there's one thing this child likes to do it's Observe

A little awkward that the e-mail with the link to the Dutch-language 'reading to your baby'-webinar from the public library is clearly an automatically translated English text
"Een korte herinnering dat deze gebeurtenis binnenkort beschikbaar is. Zie je daar!"
Elihu Vedder - Psyche and Cupid
I have been thinking a lot about something that was said in a podcast with (adult) donor children that I listened to two years ago: that leaving everything concerning the donor up to the child, while meant well, might not be the best. Because children and young adults are loyal to their families and choosing f.i. if you want/need the donor in your life feels like a big responsibility. It is why I choose to call baby D’s donor ‘donor dad’ to proclaim him family, and it is also why I am now considering keeping some baby artwork (especially the nursery Father’s Day artwork) aside so she can give it to the donor if she wants to later. And maybe even make a small photo album with a few pictures from every year of her life. So that it won’t ever feel wrong or difficult for her to want to know him eventually.

I am stunned every time I read about American cashiers not being allowed to sit down because that happened under first wave feminism in my country. Literally the most famous suffragette, who was the first official female university student and one of the first female doctors in the Netherlands, was also the woman to successfully champion for chairs for shopkeepers. In 1894.
