❛There are some pretty good modern horrors, like Midsommar and hereditary i suggested to nigel are modern horror. There are hit or miss horror films, tho same with Old ones.❜
You have your own private collection? Aren't you a little freak. I do more than I watch, personally. Don't be too surprised if you ever find a leaked tape with my face and neck tat in it.
The set design with all the bones looked fucking awesome. The last half hour was a shit ton of screaming, so kudos to the actress for that. Gave me tinnitus to listen to after a while, though. I prefer films with more story or psychological shit, but overall, I liked its grittiness. No dramatics when the sledgehammer first came down. Just finality. A blow to the head really could cause a seizure like that, so they got that right.
"Campy" is fine if it's not overdone. I loved the first "Scream" movie, for example. I was going to wear a Scream mask this past Halloween, but I ended up going as Patrick Bateman instead, fun fact. I haven't watched "Halloween" either, but I'll do that when I get the chance.
Fuck me gently with a chainsaw, I've told you all my film preferences before my name. It's Nigel. Lenny, was it? Drop more titles in my inbox if you think of any @1nvictus.

❛…I'm- not– it’s not. I collect a bunch of different kinds of movies besides a few exceptions... so I do have some adult titles...❜
❛a fact about the movie the dinner sinner near the end–! It was filmed in a single marathon day. It had to be completed in one day as the actor who played the Grandpa, refused to endure the 10-hour process of getting his makeup applied a second time. He announced that he was not sitting through it again.❜
❛There are a few good modern movies that will kinda fuck with your brain.. like Hereditary or Midsommar.. Us is another good one.❜
Boy, you're already too far gone once you start calling it a "collection". Physical copies, too? That's a classic perv move. Not that I'm judging. You're just easy to tease.
Damn, that's honestly fair if it takes 10 hours. I'm not surprised there was a lot of crazy shit going on behind the scenes.
I've seen "Us" before on a whim and enjoyed that. Makes me a little wary of lookalikes... I just watched "Hereditary" and holy fuck, that was good. Unsettling. The violence was as inevitable as a slowly tightening noose of piano wire. The mother reminded me a bit of my own, to be honest. Those poor kids.
Thanks for the curated recommendations, Lenny. Will get to "Midsommar" next. Then maybe "Insidious" and "As Above, So Below" because I hear those are good, if you approve. How do you watch horror films? Lights off with the volume up? I assume you don't scare easily.

This is PURE OOC ramble so I'm adding a read more under so you can skip past this.
This is purely admin talking about their love and passion about Horror.
I absolutely love horror movies and have for years, but what’s crazy to me is how many homophobic bigots there are in the fan base. It’s interesting to me because horror films are deeply intertwined with queer culture. And yes, this is heavily aimed at a certain group of horror movie fanboys.
So many older horror movies have queer undertones, whether through the filmmakers themselves or the themes in the stories.
For a group of people who have long been seen as outsiders in the world and still are, horror is fascinating because it allows someone to connect with media that feels relatable. There’s something relatable about seeing characters who are ostracized as monsters, outsiders, or “others.”
Sleepaway Camp, Chucky, Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Jennifer’s Body, Psycho, Fear Street, arguably even the first Saw.
Hell, even Jekyll and Hyde is literally about hidden urges. Final girls survive by rejecting social expectations.
Horror is one of the few forms of media where “outsiders” and “monsters” thrive in the spotlight. Villains often represent repressed desire exploding out of control.
So it’s interesting to see homophobic fans in the fan base. Like… you’re watching stories that are literally about outsiders, social panic, and survival in a world that wants you gone in a form of media that exists outside the “norm,” yet you still hate people for not fitting what you see as normal because you don't like it, because you see it as werid.
Honestly, as a Lgbtq person horror feels deeply familiar on an emotional level. The fear of being watched. The fear of being found out. The tension between hiding and surviving. The experience of navigating a hostile environment. Especially if you're in certain places of the world.
