G.I. Joe 11, cover date May 1983, saw the biggest expansion to the Joe roster since G.I. Joe 1. The issue introduced the Joes Airborne, Doc, Gung-Ho, Snowjob, and Wild Bill, as well as the Cobra weapon supplier Destro and the vehicles Falcon Glider, Viper Glider, and Polar Battle Bear Snowmobile. Wild Bill was sent to fly in some new "bullet-stoppers" (replacements), supplies, and pick up the wounded along one of the Alaskan pipelines. Rock n Roll didn't take a fancy to new Joe Gung-Ho at first, but Gung-Ho won him over with his bravery. Doc ended up getting an Uzi in the face when he tried to remove Snake-Eyes' mask to check for frostbite. The Joes and captured Cobras got infected by a toxin the Cobras were planting into the pipeline as a ploy to keep the Joes busy while Cobra was stealing Plutonium. Snake-Eyes, Snow Job, and Doc went to get the antidote from a group of Cobras. Meanwhile, Cobra Commander decided he needed his own field commander to handle the situation, so he brought in Destro (un-named in the issue and only shown in close-ups of body to not fully show him). To Cobra Commander's surprise, Baroness already knew him. When he questioned her about it, "Tut Tut, Commander... I thought you knew everything." Doc couldn't use weapons, but attacked Destro with snow balls and allowed himself to be beat up to strip Destro of the antidote. Doc did lie to a group of Cobras in order to barter some stolen plutonium from them. Snow Job didn't lie to Rock n Roll, but he definitely proved why he got his call sign. ("The Pipeline Ploy" G.I.
